The passat 1.8 goNna b a failure in malaysia market at this price tag. Most would go for golf gti. At least I could mod it to stage 1 for more omphhh.

VW Passat is more target to midsize market and for people looking for more versatility....Should compare this way, Vw passat 1.8 (RM185k) vs Toyota Camry (RM174k+) and Honda Accord 2.4 (RM168k+)
with the price, spec and performances wise, ppl are start thinking of vw passat. In additonal to that, vw gives 5 walong tea (warranty )...which side will you choose ? West or East ?

If you think of performances should go for GTI or R..

Passat 1.8 is Toyota Camry 2.4 and Accord 2.4 class? I thought Passat is more like vs Civic and Altis, Because if i were choose between Passat CKD and Camry 2.4 or Accord 2.4 i will go for Camry.

Please dont compare Passat with the GTI. Both cars are designed for different markets! If you want to compare, the 508 is its nearest competition. Yes, my friend has decided on the 508 due to its space, better specs and a nicer looking car. He said the Passat is just too plain looking! Of course, the Passat is faster and comes with DSG7speed and 5 year warranty. Different offering for different requirements. But one thing for sure, these 2 brands are going to affect the market share of the japanese brands in Malaysia!

Dont forget the Ford Mondeo 2.0L Ecoboost. But over the 3, i still prefer the 508. The Passat 1.8L, was a real disappointment in the design. The interior and rear was really old fashioned. But the front was cool.

I am not sure anyone can add another 2 at the back as in got the hole. How good have to leave it to other who really test it.

The reason that I vote for GTI is the ability to mod it and its unbeatable 2nd hand value price.
I don't see that Passat 1.8 can match it. The 7 Speed DSG limits down the flexibility of modding it for extra omphh.
I would avoid 508 as well.
