My ride is 2011 Mk6 Golf GTI SE. Small modding so far:
1. R tail lights
2. Shut of the seat belt chime (I know not advisable....)
3. Activate staging as active
4. Comfort line change adjust from 3 blinks to 5 blinks
5. Activate rain closing for windows and sunroof

I stay close to Kajang but working in KL. Ya one of these days I may join the TT if time permit..

This not a mod but just a code tweaking. This one for the sweeping of the tacho and rpm needle before u start the engine... Goggle GTI staging..

It's not jerk. When it's in S mode, it would engage lower gear and pull to towards red line more before changing. Your foot need have a good technique to control pedal. DSG is more like manual, lifting your foot abruptly from the pedal would give you the sudden 'jerk'.

Once you get used to it, driving a GTI is like taming a wolf to behave like a 'sheep'. That's my personal experience.

Spent the whole morning viewing the Peugeot 508 1.6L and Passat 1.8TSI. I must say that except for a slightly better engine and transmission, the Passat loses out to the 508 in terms of specs and design. The leather seats in the 508 also feel much better.

I really expected the Passat 1.8 to be better designed after being used to seeing so many of the Passat CC on the road. At about RM192 (OTR), the Passat 1.8 is about RM23K more expensive than the 508.

The passat 1.8 goNna b a failure in malaysia market at this price tag. Most would go for golf gti. At least I could mod it to stage 1 for more omphhh.

Please dont compare Passat with the GTI. Both cars are designed for different markets! If you want to compare, the 508 is its nearest competition. Yes, my friend has decided on the 508 due to its space, better specs and a nicer looking car. He said the Passat is just too plain looking! Of course, the Passat is faster and comes with DSG7speed and 5 year warranty. Different offering for different requirements. But one thing for sure, these 2 brands are going to affect the market share of the japanese brands in Malaysia!

Hi Jiun,

Still remember me? I got the R lights and LED from you.
The reason that I vote for GTI is the ability to mod it and its unbeatable 2nd hand value price. thumbup.gif
I don't see that Passat 1.8 can match it. The 7 Speed DSG limits down the flexibility of modding it for extra omphh.
I would avoid 508 as well. sweat.gif

Don't really understand Jetta/Golf with 1.4cc generating 160PS, why this Passat with 1.8cc also churn out 160PS??

*
Going stage 1 might churn out extra HP , but the 7 speed DSG can take only max 250Nm.
How far has stage 1 audi 1.8 engine gone?
http://www.revotechnik.com/index.php?mod=audi

For Passat (B7), APR upgrade is only available for 2.0TFSI engine:
http://www.goapr.com/products/ecu_upgrade_20tsi_trans.html

I would see that this 1.8 engine and 7 speed DSG are at middle of no where. Remapping the ECU wont help much.
