thanks for the prompt reply...by the way...may i ask regards the software(android fw update) support from asus is it reliable compare to samsung? i mean last time samsung update is much slower than htc....and i believe now samsung have pick up a lot.... just worry that android update takes like forever from asus...fyi i will not root my android device
*
so far ASUS has been pretty quick at releasing their updates. they've recently released a minor upgrade to 3.1 and 3.2 update is due out soon too, so no worries.

i see...where do you get your tf101? anywhere do you know i could test demo unit?
*
we got them from evernew midvalley, but please do NOT go there and buy from them, they have a bad reputation of poor customer service and bad manners staff. For demo unit i'm not sure, perhaps you could try there but dont buy from them..

cyberkewl - did you noticed the increase in free ram? well, up to last nite it decreased by bit, 177used - 380-free  sweat.gif

maybe the increase earlier was just a refresh after installing the update

one more thing, does the sound became louder after the update (but not balanced, it still have the shy lefty) or is it just me experiencing placebo effect  laugh.gif

I've just timed mine from the moment i press the power button till i see the honeycomb home screen - takes less than 2 minutes, 1 minute 50 seconds to be exact. then another 20-30 seconds before i can properly swipe the homescreen without lag.

I've a lot of apps installed so i guess this is a normal bootup time tongue.gif

hmm, the pyramid evernew staffs are quite helpful, they straight away call the service centre to ask about stock availability and tell me fastest by one week, instead of "dunno, cannot guarantee".. they say got spare part available for the speakers, just hope mine aint caused by motherboard issue...
and i also ask them my keyboard dock one part of the housing actually sticks out, so can claim warranty a not, they say just send along and see.. no harm there, since the KBD wont be of much use without the tablet itself too, haha
*
yeah, the ones most of us facing are evernew midvalley, i guess other branches have different staff, therefore different attitude.

IMHO, 10 inchers are just too big to replace a smartphone ... not practical at all
*
yeah i wouldnt advice anyone to use the tablet to replace a smartphone..better get a cheap android phone then tether the connection when you need 3g on your tablet. then can use phone and tablet + wifi/3g also smile.gif

again, my personal opinion is that while we can quantify the lcd brightness, colour and what not, someone's perfect red might be another person's imperfect red. wink.gif

I'm quite surprise with the TF's playback capabilities.. It is way weaker than my n8.... Some videos cant be played by TF can easily played on my n8... I think they need to optimize the TF more.. I think the TF's hardware is way powerful than my n8...
*
did you try moboplayer or rockplayer? natively the stock player cannot play certain file formats but using a 3rd party software like moboplayer or rockplayer which uses software decoding can solve the issue. trust me, even ipad cant even play as many format as the transformer can..

Added on July 24, 2011, 1:03 amapparently it wasnt 3.2. got an update though but still 3.1. pfftt. anyone knows what the new update does?
*
minor updates and performance fixed. you should at least notice your homescreen swiping is smoother now than previously. also if you have the keyboard dock and not using the default asus on screen keyboard, there is a dialog that usually pops up to warn you to switch to the default asus keyboard bla bla bla..there's now a checkbox to stop the annoying popup from showing..forever..those are the more obvious changes..nothing that much really

Hi all here.. Im getting a TF very soon, so i hv a few noob questions..

1 of my most concern, the productivity of TF.. since it comes with full docking keyboard, thus is there any full feature office document apps available? Means, can we do/create/edit documents in full feature similar as the MIcrosoft Office, or close to it?

Do TF owners here satisfied with Tf so far? Any personal opinion? Well at least its rare to see a 2nd hand Tf being sold in garage sale section, means all owner choose to keep them long enough. smile.gif

There is no USB port on the tablet itself, right? Only at the dock?

Battery life? Fair? Good? Or should be better? I mean, without dock.

Hope u all mind to share.. Thanks! smile.gif

Hi there. Yes there's polaris office which allows you to edit/create office documents but it cannot save to the newer docx, pptx format for instance..most 3rd party office applications cannot do this either. Also the formatting may be different, again this is similar to other 3rd party office apps - nothing you can do about it.

In terms of whether we are satisfied with the TF, I can say that pretty much most of us are satisfied, including myself. Its worth buying if you buy it with the dock. There's no USB port on the tablet - you are correct on this, only on the dock. IF you want just the tablet and want a usb port on it, you can look for Acer Iconia Tab A500 but mind you the screen for that tablet is a TFT while TF is an IPS panel like iPad 1 and iPad 2.

Battery life is pretty good, with the dock you can achieve about 16 hrs approximately. Without the dock I think about 7-8 hours probably? Depending on your usage of course.

Thanks..smile.gif

But i really hope to have a full feature office document app on a tablet, so i can ditch my laptop..

Btw, the price rm1799 is for the 16gb right? Is thre 32gb one?
*
no tablet can offer you full feature office document app at the moment, there will be some features that cannot work or alignment running out. that's the way it is. unless microsoft themselves offer to develop apps for the platform then no issues.
