No one can respond to me on my enquiries regarding Youtube fullscreen view at earlier post?
*
From what i can tell it is pretty much landscape only on full screen, to watch it in portrait mode, you cant go full screen. An alternative is to download the video then watch it with a 3rd party player like moboplayer which should support portrait mode (if i recalled correctly).

Bro,

You probably get the wrong message.

I was talking about the full screen landscape mode whereby this not only apply to Youtube but others player as well. When we are in landscape mode, the screen will remained even we turned our device in another way round.
*
Oh, sorry i misunderstood there..if what you mean is that some players dont rotate the screen when you're watching a full screen video, then yes, some apps appear to lock you in that rotation mode. apps like moboplayer for instance, say you are in landscape mode and are viewing a video, then you flip the tablet 180 degrees, it will be shown upside down and not the right side up. This is due to application design for some reason. If you take the Gallery app for instance, and you view a video there, you can rotate it just fine in any direction and the video will appear in the right side up...so to conclude, its just the way the app is designed, nothing much you can do about it.

i'm mistaken, for moboplayer you can set the option actually - you have to enable the "screen rotation" option in the mobo player's preferences page then it will behave like the gallery app..for others, its just a limitation, even games cannot be played on the upside down 180 degree flip side.

QUOTE(un_id @ Jul 24 2011, 05:07 PM)
guys, im going to collect my TF soon, any advice on what to check or anything?

about the warranty, is there any different between Asus Malaysia with other countries, or Asus just offer international warranty?

is there any screen bleed issue like ipad? do i have to check it?
*
yes here's a simple list of stuff to check:

1) Light bleed, most visible in highest brightness setting, middle bottom area where the charging port is for the tablet. Most people have light bleed in this area and i'm getting used to it. If other areas of the tablet has light bleed, request for another one and refuse to take it. If its just at the middle bottom area, then i guess its up to you whether to take, but most likely almost every other unit have this light bleed issue.
2) If you're buying the dock, test it out, make sure you can dock the transformer and the dock together. The latch should move from left all the way to the right, cannot be inbetween whatsoever. Some pressure is needed to push/press the tablet towards the dock, this is normal. If after you put pressure and the latch still doesnt go all the way to the right side, request a new dock, refuse to take the unit they offer.
3) Test out the keyboard dock keys, press all of them in polaris office, make sure all the keys register properly. Also test out the touchpad make sure it is ok when moving the mouse cursor on the screen and also the left and right clicks register. Left click is to launch an app or perform an operation such as button clicks like in windows and right click functions as a back button / back key in Android (not like in windows where the context menu usually appears).
4) Bring along these items if you have to test the connectivity options -> USB external mouse (for dock), USB pendrive, SD Card, MicroSD card. Use them to test out the various ports on the tablet and the dock. Tablet only have microsd and mini hdmi port, so you can bring a microsd card to test if you're buying the dock only. Mini HDMI you can only test at home unless you can test it somewhere that has a tv and you also need a mini hdmi -> hdmi output cable.
5) Test the speakers, try to see if you can listen carefully whether the left and right side speakers are balanced and not louder for one of them compared to the other (i.e: left louder than right or vice versa). Several forummers here have this issue (but I don't). So test that out. Also bring an earphone if you have, to test out the earphone jack too.

That's pretty much all I can remember on the top off my head. Regarding the warranty as i know asus malaysia is giving international warranty. Good luck smile.gif

Omg I just bought from Evernew just now o.o I combed through posts but didn't see this till now! What's wrong with that company? Waa.
*
dont worry, they're not likely to go bankrupt or anything, just poor customer service..especially the one in midvalley, in other places not so sure if they're ok or not. most of us bought it at midvalley during the initial launch and got poor treatment from their staff.

I went to the one at Lowyat. Not bad, I suppose, if you discount the fact that he didn't have all the info I asked for (is ok, we're all human haha) and he...didn't know what payment method I could use other than hard cash? That part was funny. Lol. Thanks for clarifying, I thought it was something more serious like bogus products or something. Whew.

Enjoy your tablets people =) I'm charging mine now, will use it tonight hehehe.
*
nolar if until bogus products sure kena sure liao lor...with the rudeness of their staff it also means if you want to get exchanges wont be that easy as other shops

new TF user checking in.. whoottt!!  rclxms.gif  tongue.gif  biggrin.gif

first impression, i fall in love  with it from the first touch. wub.gif

was in a very quick deal with seller just now, coz i was so tempted to try it out, until i forgot to check things suggested by bro CyberKewl. doh.gif

but, everything are working fine, luckily. laugh.gif

but the TF is quite "too" heavy with its dock, lol

1 thing i wanna ask. regarding typing with the dock.. i tried typing using dock on Polaris, its smooth and responsive. but now im typing this comment using my TF on dock, its kinda laggy.. means, thre is a split time after i hit the button then the letter come out.. is this normal? is it due to the internet or the web browser??

anyway, im not regret to spend my RM1650 for this. (well dun ask me how come i got this cheaper than RRP) lol
*
its due to the browser, there's a known lag issue on stock browser. you can try other browsers such as opera mobile or firefox mobile, the lag is not there..hopefully this will be fixed in the upcoming 3.2 update.

thanks bro..

btw, im going to reset my TF.. is there any better way o do this to remove any data, or just doing it from setting?
*
if not mistaken to get rid of data that's the only way, the other way is to use the hardware power and volume up button but that only does a hard reset and doesnt remove any settings as far as i know.

QUOTE(wxph @ Jul 24 2011, 09:06 PM)
I have some questions.

1. Where can I buy the Asus EEE Pad Transformer currently? Do they sell them in Low Yat? If not, where I can get one?

2. The Asus EEE Pad Transformer 2 is rumoured to come out in late October/November, with the Tegra 3 and Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Should I hold on from buying the Asus EEE Pad currently? (It's not exactly a need for me at this time, but I sure would love to own one though tongue.gif)

3. This is a technical question, but I'm curious, so I'll ask: the next implementation of the Asus EEE will be quad-core, right? But will Android's Honeycomb apps natively be able to use the increased processing power (e.g. which will translate into immediate performance gains for some games and apps, like when the iPad 2 was released with its dual-core chip) , or must we wait for software to be rewritten to take advantage of all that added power before we can see performance gains?
*
1) Yes. Most major retail IT stores should have them restocked i think..(it was out of stock previously)

2) If you dont mind waiting then better wait.

3) The quad core will translate to faster and smoother UI and multitasking overall while apps will definitely needed to be rewritten to take advantage of the quad core CPU i believe, much like normal PCs. Dont think that it would behave differently from PCs (where softwares need to be properly programmed to take full advantage of the quad core CPU).

nice...
dun worry... like the bros have replied earlier... its more to do with the attitude of the ppl in the shop. where possible, i do try to boycott shops with bad attitude staffs. after all, its not like i cannot get it anywhere else. personally, i have done that for eating places where the boss sucks big time.
ya, these are good options. i dun like FF coz the current version dun allow us to change agent string (sth that allows servers to detect whether we're surfing from mobile, desktop, etc so the webpages becomes customised). speaking of this... its surprising that tablets get lumped as mobiles too... since 10" tablets = small form notebooks/ netbooks.

on dolphin hd... the lag is occasional. sometimes i get it, sometimes i dun. hoping this gets fixed as i kinda like dolphin HD browser. i have yet to try opera though... cyberkewl... how diff is opera from dolphin?

Added on July 25, 2011, 8:53 am
currently... 3g version is still not out yet.

Added on July 25, 2011, 8:55 am
have to agree with this... i played some 1080p trailers (abt 300-500mb) on TF and SGS2 (Samsung Galaxy S2). sgs2 din seem to break sweat playing the video. i was using moboplayer on both devices.
*
for me i dont know why, my dolphin hd seems as laggy as the stock browser. my understanding is that dolphin is using the stock browser engine, so it should be as laggy, not sure why you get the lag sometimes..i get it all the time...for opera, i totally do not have a single lag, but i dont like to use opera because the shortcuts are nowhere as good as the stock ones. for once, the stock browser is just so much more superior to me in terms of shortcut keys and the ease of use. even dolphin browser hd cant beat this one IMHO. its different on my nexus one tho, dolphin browser hd is my main browser smile.gif

i hope u guys wont mind if i ask wats the difference between rooted and unrooted TF? Shud it be rooted?
*
it should not be rooted when you purchase the TF or any android device for that matter unless you bought it second hand and the previous owner rooted it already. With rooted you have full access to the android filesystem meaning you can tweak, modify, change, delete, edit the files in the internal filesystem all you want. much like the difference between having administrator and a normal user in windows environment. of course, when you root, you void your warranty and if you dont know what you're doing, you could "brick" your android device..meaning turning it into a useless brick..google on this for more info.

if i remember correctly, no need to uninstall. the hacked version (that allows voice) just need you to have root so you can modify (delete/ replace) some files...

speaking of opera... it just reminded me... i think opera works like some sort of proxy, correct? webpages go thru their server and it gets compressed... or does that apply only to the mini version of the browser?
*
not sure about that but i dont really like opera. i only use it to download APK files from filesharing sites where the stock browser cant seem to handle it properly at the moment
