'08 Corolla. I called my bank and confirmed the outstanding amount is about 12k with 6 months left to pay.

My trade in price ranges between 76 ~ 82k. So confirmed minimal trade in value after settlement also got 70k.

Why do you ask?

sad.gif your 1 is new facelift? mine 2006 only 52k blink.gif

QUOTE(gary_ckwai @ Jun 22 2012, 08:28 PM)
can new camry owners share the FC and how many KM the car can go on full tank?
*
here is your answer

FYI: perlis to kl about 400km / 60 = 0.15cent per KM

QUOTE(kadajawi @ Jun 22 2012, 09:22 PM)
But those new cars are probably good resale value ones, which means Toyota etc. And what is a new car there is really not new at all. I'd take my 2002 Citroen over a new same segment Altis any day.

By not caring about the resale value I can get a car that I will like in the first place. Granted I have to drive it longer, but since I like it I do not mind.

Also if you are rich enough to throw away 60k or so within 3 years, then why not top up a bit and get something really good? That you won't want to sell?

Example: You can go for a Galaxy S3 or something like that, and keep it for 3 years. Or you can buy a cheapo Android every year. Galaxy Mini or so. You will have a great phone, for all the 3 years, even when it is old the screen is great and the performance should be ok, or you will have a new but slow device all the time, with a bad screen etc. Even in 3 years the latest cheap Android will be rubbish. But you will have spent the same amount as the one who got the right device in the first place.

What is the point of new if new is crap? I'd rather have something that is old and good.

Renault is also sharing engines with Proton, if you drive a Kangoo it should be possible to drop in either the Savvy engine or the Waja 1.8X engine (which makes it go fast biggrin.gif Handling wise it can easily do 170+, just the darn engine can't do it).

If your car is in good condition, what's the point in selling it? Unless the car you want is a big improvement. For a Passat or Mondeo, yes, I can see that. Camry... not so much.

very true. actually depend individual needs.

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Jun 23 2012, 03:23 AM)
Its 500km from KL to Perlis generally la not 400.
*
ops sorry. then is

RM 60 / 500km = RM 0.12/km drool.gif

When talking about fuel consumption always use L/100km or km/L. Never use currency as you cant make comparisons based on that. Plus the driving speed on the highway is also important. I think he was driving from 90kmph above.

The K5's fuel consumption at 110kmph is about 8-9L/100km which adds up to only RM40-45 for a 500km journey. But considering driving conditions, its probably about RM 50-55 in reality.
*
yes he did mention 90-140km/h.

"The K5's fuel consumption at 110kmph is about 8-9L/100km which adds up to only RM40-45 for a 500km journey"
its probably about RM 50-55 in reality.

RM 55 / 500km = 0.11 per km? sure or not

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jun 23 2012, 04:45 AM)
15.8 km/liter. For Camry? i don't believe that is possible.
*
Don't blame me please. I just calculate according to data forummers given sad.gif

Sorry at 9L/100km, i would consume 45L or RM 85 which works out to be RM0.17 per km in 100% highway driving at 110kmph.

In my first full tank (79L), i got about 730km. That was in 50-50 highway driving at 140kmph and town driving. This works out to be about 11L/100km.

The only thing i cant seem to understand till now is how i still manage to fill 79L of fuel in a tank thats supposedly only 70L according to the manual. I know it will be usually slightly more, but 9L more??  shocking.gif
*
should be 0.17 nod.gif more logical. anyway, just curious the FC only brows.gif

9 liter out of 70 liter tank. should be the m3 measurement taken only size of the tank. exclusive the bottle of the tank maybe. I guess only

QUOTE(zweimmk @ Jun 23 2012, 12:58 PM)
Anyway, I went to look at both Camry and the Passat again. Took another test drive with the Passat. Wife still prefers the comfort of the Camry but is totally fine with the Passat.

The dealer is going to take a look at my car tomorrow, get the value and then I'll put my booking for the Passat if the price is right.

1% cash back or 3 free servicing. CBU unit also got 11k discount but 2011 Passat model
*
11k discount @ price 171k? coz CBU 183k if not mistaken.
Any diff CBU with CKD? Thanks you again

QUOTE(kepalapening @ Jun 24 2012, 04:46 PM)
Maybe because 2.5 uses different engine and six speed gear box.
Drive on highway within eco range from kl to perlis RM60.

I try my best to drive within the eco range. No more than 140km/h.
In other words, I try not to let the eco green light from disappearing.

P/s: Perhaps your city is different from mine.
*
I need to back up your statement.

FC is very subjective due to place, drive driving habit. Therefore we just need to set average FC.

Aircon service is every 60K or 90K if im not mistaken. But yes major servicing will cost you >RM 1,000 and once they start adding on small items e.g brake pads, belting, etc your bill will start to climb. But thats the case with most cars anyway including Kia. Thats why i dont bother looking at these maintenance cost charts. It just shows you the basic or minimum price u gotta pay.
*
true, my altis 2005 service @ 40k = 800+ shocking.gif

That time service was poor in ipoh. you need to wait whole day somemore. Now is better since they double the service bay

What would happen if you really needed to rotate your car to avoid an obstacle ahead?
Just curious.
*
ESC / VSC basicaly lower your tyre spinning only. it will not brake 100% therefore it might able to steer under your control. instead without ESC/VSC at high speed, when you lost control your wheel still spinning and cause unwanted accident.

Sorry, That my understanding only. If mistake, please do correct me. thanks you

actually u are off target there...
they are the same actually.... it is the naming convention that cause confusion...
because ESP and TC and whatsover are just naming convention...
at the backend, they works just the same...

depending on manufacturer, they are named differently or packaged differently...
smile.gif
*
TC actually include in every VSC / ESP cause 1 of the component for it.

else TC can be only in car without VSC / ESP

ESC incorporates yaw rate control into the anti-lock braking system (ABS). Yaw is a rotation around the vertical axis; i.e. spinning left or right. Anti-lock brakes enable ESC to brake individual wheels. Many ESC systems also incorporate a traction control system (TCS or ASR), which senses drive-wheel slip under acceleration and individually brakes the slipping wheel or wheels and/or reduces excess engine power until control is regained. However, ESC achieves a different purpose than ABS or Traction Control.[20]

I wonder which japanese or euro brand of the highest spec D-Segment car nowadays did not come with active safety VSC feature? I could only think of all new camry... Anymore highest spec D-seg so suck, mind to share??
*
hmm.gif

engineering flaw?

As I see on Toyota website, Camry said offer Traction control but not VSC.
Guess they thought TC is good enough? I can't answer you cause I'm not Toyota Camry Chief Engineer.

Guess might be next Batch Camry might offer due to alot feedback.

No you are wrong, not because of the absent of 4 seasons and the death rate is low, the fatality rate is still super high because of our Malaysian driver is super brilliant due to their driving mentality, thinking my car has esp, vsc, vdc... So my car won't lose control no matter how, so even the road is super wet, they still think his car is super safe, so in the end, accident occur, this is one of the real example, my colleague who is driving his BMW 5 series year 2011, involved in an accident near Bukit Tinggiat Karak highway. Now he won't believe any ESP or vsc, his words are drive safely, when the road is wet, your 4 wheels are floating above the water.

similar with technology. like develop countries always get experience on hand with lastest tech. while most of 3rd world country actually using up the old tech such for the part exist. This is business afterall. Unless you buy from oversea and import it yourself. CKD is the behind of all this.

check BMW F30 320d instead. 1st import batch inclusive Navi. CKD is without navi.
Merc C200 similar.
You all can fight all you want for the Camry. Did you review others cars?
Accord equip with Navi in oversea. here? none
VW passat oversea for park assist
K5 oversea got navi and also most of the engine were 2.0 GDI turbo.

summary,
you all feel ripe off? yes.
180k lack of 1 safety features but hell is still 180k car you can afford. Which oversea conversion = 60k which you can buy S class with income 1/3 of oversea brows.gif should be proud of yourself.

PS: for those will say Navi no important. try to check oversea demand of navi car. Is like regular must have features same like safety. If your car don't have navi, then they will said your car was in the 90's

just my 2cent. please don't hate me. I sense alot endless arguement here.

Yes i made alot of enemies among the Korean fan boys on Paultan.  biggrin.gif

And yes it took alot of online research/analysis, 9 test drives and careful evaluation of all aspects to push myself to jump ship. But no regrets so far.  rclxms.gif

not to bash. you sound experienced in toyota or kia. but you that the link above as reference to compare.
I really laugh so hard on this.

let me get the highlight

Kia K5
2.4 = 4 pots
D segment car
non-luxury car

BMW 328
3.0 = 6 pot
C segment car
Luxury car

PS: should compare like VW passat TSI

somemore some idiot compare like no other. highlight for K5 good to buy?
- good miles
- spacious - no doubt since is a D SEGMENT !!!

FC huh? well did he compare with BMW F30 320d? obviously he never heard it before whistling.gif

I admit K5 is a good bargain to buy for D-segment but you can't expect it will overtake entire D-segment car. This is pathetic.

I respect you as a car enthusiast,
Love it or love it blindly. I leave it to you.

QUOTE(stix @ Jul 3 2012, 12:35 PM)
maybe you should try sitting in a 320 or A4 and get a feel of the ambience. K5 is all pretty and that but, definitely not up to conti standard in terms of quality and drive. of course, you have to pay nearly twice the amount if we are actually comparing.
*
here is 1 of conti speaker. smile.gif
btw, same spec is not twice but triple brows.gif
