Eh, finally an owner.
How would you rate on the fuel consumption of the 2.5 model?  hmm.gif (In Km/L figure)
*
Kangar-kl 6 hours non stop rm75. Last time being berhemah it's only rm60.
Kl-grik-kb 12 hours rm85.

Calc yourself for Km/L. I use ron95 rm1.9/L.

Haha, of course. Why should I pay for a new car with the same engine and gearbox from previous generation when I can get it cheaper with previous generation?  tongue.gif
*
Get 2.5v then.

Eh bro, where is the actual full tank mileage in city driving la? How many times asking and yet no reply? Why?
*
Frankly speaking, I have not done the test. My Camry comes with 3 digital and 1 mechanical fuel efficiency gauges, and I have posted 2 of them here.

p/s: If you cannot trust the gauges, how can you trust some computer device to save your life.

Plus nobody drives at a constant 170kmph on a highway over that distance.  biggrin.gif

I did not say that.

Added on August 27, 2012, 4:27 pmI travelled more than 1600km this Raya. Town, village and highway.

No more complaint from my kids and wifey.

But im a bit surprised that Kepala Pening's 2.5L Camry is only getting 580km+ range on a full tank.

*
I have never said that 2.5L Camry get only 580+ km range on a full tank.

BTW, the fuel tank's volume is 7L.

I need to check back the manual (if I got time) regarding the meaning of the term "cruising range".

Toyota have always tuned their cars towards good fuel efficiency rather than power.
*
Most user will praised a balance of good fuel efficiency and power like what Camry 2.5 had offered.

That range counter is never accurate and if I'm not mistaken, the car will light up once the tank has used up about 60 to 63L of fuel, meaning, there will always be petrol in the tank unless you really drive it dry. Even my car's range counter is not accurate, always show about 700km but end up I usually have to fill up at 600km or so with only 4L of fuel left in the tank tongue.gif

I think it's just the counter programming. If you ask me, I think the range difference between our cars is at most what? 5 to 10%? That's a realistic figure if driving style and road conditions are equal.
*
In 2.5V Camry, it will never light up, unless I choose to display it. Need to check the manual what this figure shows.

Never light up? You sure or not? When fuel tank nearly empty, if it don't light up then how to know if you nearing empty tank or not?
*
I never experienced nearly empty tank. But, the picture I posted has nothing to do with that light.

Added on August 28, 2012, 2:46 pmDriving on timur-barat highway (mountain), I have found that Camry 2.5V is a bit slower during start-up for a few seconds, and hence A 2.0L last gen Civic left me stucked behind slower cars.

So the figure shown of 9.9km/l is for 100% city driving?
*
Nope, it's from my last Raya 1600++km trip for a mix of everything, but, high speed on highway.

I think safe to assume 70% highway and 30% city with that kind of mileage.
*
The 1600++ km details:
1. Kangar -> KL (highway)
2. some city driving
3. KL -> KK (High speed in highway) -> Jeli (Mountain) -> KB (city - with lots of traffics)
4. some city driving
5. KB -> Jeli (city) -> Gerik (Mountain) -> SP -> Kangar (very high speed in highway)

Even if you talk about aftermarket mods, what else is there to do in the 2.5V?

Soundproofing? Dynamat? 3M? Wurth?
Tinting? 3M, Vkool, Llumar, Huper Optik - choose your poison
Body kit? Dunno if there's even anything good out right now
Audio System?

ACIS system - ?
Dual VVTI engine - ?
High tensile steel GOA body construction - ?
*
Soundproofing? Some of my passenger ask me if the car is running using battery.
Tinting? Already included with the premium quality tint.
Body kit? Is it necessary?
Audio System? Silence is golden.

IMHO, you need to own this car in order to appreciate it.

In my opinion, you need to own other D segment cars like the Optima, Passat, Sonata and Teana to know what ure missing out on.  biggrin.gif

I have test drive a Teana recently, and my stands does not change.

Well i wouldnt say a majority of them are idiots but i would say that a fair amount of them purchased the Camry based on brand perception and limited knowledge about other D segment makes out there which are on par or almost on par with the Camry as compared to the past. Plus many of them would have placed too much of emphasis on resale value while still assuming that Toyota's after sales service is still oceans apart from other manufacturers.
*
I am not a fan of Toyota.
I don't buy Camry because it is a Toyota.
I know nothing about resale value.

What I know is that it has large space, easier to maintain because of the service center availability, and it is the cheapest 2.5L engine that I can afford.

Yes for you the availability of service centres was an important criteria. Valid reason.

Btw, you did mention this before and ure saying it again which makes me curious but why is the 2.5L engine so important to u? Many of the 2.0L have more than sufficient power and are able to maintain high speeds effortlessly. Plus its not like you drive at super high speeds >200kmph often so why the focus on the 2.5L engine? hmm.gif
*
What is wrong if I put service centers as a criteria. I don't want to travel 500km in order to re-lube only.

I have mentioned from the very beginning that I need a larger space.

A larger engine will give better fuel efficiency.

A larger engine can last longer in high speed.
For example, I manage to drive 500km non stop while fasting last month.

larger engine <> high performance engine.

@kepalapening:
Agreed, it's not small. But personally I'd pick a station wagon over the saloon version any time of the day. More practical, better looking, ...
*
If I am not mistaken, the cheapest wagon is V50. But, it's nearly 200k.
BTW, previously, I am also considering a few SUV like Escape/Everest and Fortuner.
But, friends and families are against me.
Hence, I ended up with Camry --- large space and may look luxury according to most ordinary people, to make wifey smile.

You may have driven 1000km non stop. But, I have to drive 1600++ km several times a year, and each time with heavy traffic jam, and also need to carry kids. Moreover, only one third of the journey is highway, and the rest include villages and mountains.

I noticed that this festival season, no more complaints from my kids. No more nausea. Just sleep along the way. So, I can drive without disturbance from them.

Huge engine + soft suspension + huge space = less tired.

Hence, I can say that this car is good enough at least for me and my family. Of course perhaps the continental is better (I have mentioned earlier in this thread that I admire a Volvo and Audi) --- my brother is driving a 407, parents and also in law using merc, but since I am far away from KL, my stands is I would not waste my time just to have my car re-lube. Furthermore, for 180k, I only get a small entry level continental car.

The same goes for interior space as everybody knows the Camry isnt the car with the biggest interior space in the D segment category. The Teana, Accord & Mondeo all have more interior space while the Optima has about the same space as your Camry. But where space is concerned, the Camry is still acceptable.

*
Teana: The steering is too soft like other Nissan.
Accord: Like sitting in an aeroplane cockpit. Too many buttons. I am a kind of conventional man.

Huge engine: A 6L Bentley is not meant for performance.
