I think in your case, you definitely would have been better off just buying an Estima or Alphard. Both equally comfortable and spacious. Especially if its a full spec Alphard/Vellfire! Power doors, captain seats, DVD entertainment, reverse camera etc all built in. Maybe the Ford S-max also would have been a fine choice but perhaps no Ford service center in your area.

Nothing better than having a mobile living room on the go biggrin.gif

But, we have enough of MPV.
BTW, Estima and Alphard for 180K, second hand only ma.

Yeah, these are small intangible factors (outside of the usual specs and accessories) which can influence a person's decision. But this is a very subjective area and up to each person's preference.
*
Because towards the end, it is you and your car.

Yeah those are spacious and luxurious. Only downside is the fuel consumption... I guess u can't have everything smile.gif

Any idea of the fuel consumption for the Alphard/Vellfire?

As for the S-Max, spaciousness not in the same category as Alphard. In particular the last row is too cramped for my taste.
*
And not suitable for daily use.

I think FC can't be that great since the car is so heavy!

So, bigger engine is needed right.

Comfort yes. The Camry's seats are more comfortable compared to the Optima. Same goes for the suspension. And yes i think the Camry is marginally more spacious inside but not by alot. I still think the Teana and Accord are the biggest inside among these few makes.

But how did u test interior legroom?
*
Every passenger can do "sila panggung" in Camry except for the driver of course---unless the auto cruise is activated.

The new Merc B class is said to have huge leg room at the rear I believe, the Skoda Superb also offers S class like space at the back.
*
Why did a Merc would usually has a big "bonggol" in rear middle, whereby toyota manage to reduce it to almost flat?

premium cars like merc, bmw, lexus is running on rear wheel drive. rear wheel drive is a better driving dynamic compare to front wheel. like sports car lambor, ferrari, porche also rear wheel drive(RWD).
thus RWD need a rear wheel shaft to make the rear wheel running as the engine at front. so u can imagine. merely a rear wheel shaft can easily cost RM30-50k. this is why car below 200k do not come with this.

medium class like japanese car all is front wheel drive(FWD). even volkswagen and audi also mostly FWD unless is high spec that come with all wheel drive(AWD)
*
Perhaps that's why the tech like ESP and TC are more needed in those cars because RWD is harder to control --- very easy to skid.

I still found quite funny as the kepalapening claimed that the Nissan Teana steering is too soft, then if he/she found the Nissan Teana steering too soft, I think the Camry is even worse, I found the Teana steering is tuned to quite balance, not too light and not too heavy, for sure not as responsive as the Ford Mondeo or Accord, but compare to Camry, I think the Teana is much better, now really make me kepalapening!  rclxub.gif

Even my Nissan Latio Sport 1.8 also has a light steering.

My wife says OK. But, I said no. It is a matter of self preferences.

BTW, it is not me who drive the Latio everyday.

Camry 2.5V review

http://paultan.org/2012/10/15/driven-toyot...t-drive-report/

Added on October 15, 2012, 3:48 amWeird. In this thread when a Camry involved in an accident, people would say "see. I have told you so. ..."

But, when a Korean car involved in an accident like in the video posted ealier, people would say "nothing that we can do if the car is driven at this speed."

Some forumers even pray for the death of a Toyota owner.

Now clocked at 10K++ km.

BTW, last Saturday I saw a new shiny K5 (AJA xxxx) stopped in the middle of the road (east-west highway), after a sharp corner, on top of the mountain with hazard light switched on. Breakdown maybe? whistling.gif

Luckily, even though my XV50 was not equipped with whatever special gadget that, that K5 have, it was able to dodged that K5. sweat.gif

I can already tell from your post that you are a very hard to please fella. Granted, nobody wants to wait for 3 days but if it's their SOP then what else can you say? What they probably should have done is to offer a courtesy car ( I know they don't always do that), that would have been the right thing to do to keep the customer happy.

In your case, you should just stick to Honda, Toyota or Nissan. As far as I'm concerned, these 3 companies are the only companies in Malaysia at the time of this writing that has the biggest service coverage and support across the nation. Forget about the others in your case, I would recommend selling off the Polo TSI in exchange for an Altis/Sylphy/Civic or similiar car. It's suitable for your character who cannot tolerate any fault a car develop or when problem occurs, it must be rectified in 2 days or less.
+1

My verdict still stands, you don't want to deal with potential problems and easy fuss free ownership, just go with Honda, Toyota or Nissan.  You want to buy Peugeot or Ford or VW then be prepared to deal with whatever problems which may arise. After all, these brands haven't been that active in our market until a few years back so you'd need to adjust your expectations in line with their current capabilities.

+1 again.

XV50 = comfort + space + ease of taking care of.

Yes and lose out on value for money, specs, power, transmission, handling, safety and design?  doh.gif

Go read the KPMG Global Automotive Survey report 2012. By 2016 VW is expected to increase its current market share by 73% while Hyundai Kia comes in 2nd with 63%. Toyota is at a distant 32%. In short, although Toyota still reigns at No 1, its market share is being slowly eroded by other upcoming car manufacturers and for good reason too.

Who cares?
Being an owner doesn't make me a fanboy.
Like I said, who cares.

Btw, how's your elbow pad doing?

Fanboys wont bother about engine and other mechanical advantages. Fanboys talk mostly about mods and rarely do they argue with maturity. So please go check the meaning of being a fanboy before commenting ya. If ure not bothered then why bother posting +1 remarks everywhere? U post +1 when ppl talk about 1 or 2 plus points but when your your Camry's negative points are highlighted u immediately claim ure not bothered?  biggrin.gif

My pads are fine. SO u actually took the trouble to search around for problems with the Optima? WHy? Running out of bullets to fight? Common..im sure ure more mature than that rite? And with all your research u could only come up with that 1 tiny issue which affected just him i guess?

doh.gif

The more u try and defend yourself the more u get stuck in the muck.
*
+1 since he had admitted that if you don't want a headache buy ...
I said who cares when you started to talk economy reports.

P/s:I remember my naza ria hazard light switch is hidden behind the steering wheel. Bad design.

Actually that's what I thought too. For anyone whose got 180k to splurge on a car, hasn't bought a car yet and it has to be a Toyota, then why not an Alphard instead?

Comfort 5*
Safety 5*
Space 5*
Convenience equipment 5*

Seats 5 to 7 comfortably I believe
*
1. It's not a car.
2. With 180k can get new Alphard?

People when they get older, their efficiency reduced. And much faster with car.
I personally would reject a recond car.

I never care much about brands. I even bought one korean car in the past and regreted. What important is what is the best that I can get with that amount of money that suits all my requirements and needs. Also need to consider the environment where the car is going to be used.

Do I need to sit inside a van to know that it is not a car?
