QUOTE(blacktrix @ Oct 15 2005, 12:06 PM) Has anyone tried the Vox V-847 Wah??? I'm really tempted to try it out, since it's close to the same specs that Jimi used to use. For all the famous songs that you remember from Jimi, he was probably using the Vox. Didn't know that until I read the article. I thought it was Jim Dunlop that made his first wah..... AND he found out the unique sound of the Wah from................ Eric Clapton when he was in Cream. Hi, I have the Cream 4CD box set, and it quotes that Eric was inspired to play wah when he listened to hendrix's "burning of the midnight lamp" in Smash Hits, circa 66-67... Eric's first song with wah is "song of brave ulysses", from "disreali gears". anyway, "white room" is a rip-off of "song of brave ulysses", but longer and cooler solo...

QUOTE(blacktrix @ Feb 18 2006, 04:03 PM) I thought it was the other way round....... I thought Hendrix was inspired to play Wah when he heard Cream??? Hmm, even though Hendrix idolised Clapton, I think it was Hendrix who inspired him to use to wah. Clapton didn't have a wah until the later days of Cream.

Hmm.. well according to the booklet, clapton was inspired by hendrix...
and according to the gear guide in fender.com, hendrix used a VOX wah..
anyway, whoever copied whoever, i think "burning of the midnight lamp" rocks! does it mean the same thing as "burning the midnight oil"?
cheers!
p/s thinking of buying behringer hellbabe. Main reason : Broke-ness. want the wah-ing in hendrix and cream. Up to the job?

yeah.. quick. make the thread and pin it up.. so i won't get into trouble like i did.
haha.. cos i didn't spot this thread and posted a new post. pin this up and make it a Q&A or a review-type thread. you know, where they review pedals.
