If you want Hendrix's funk sound.... then you HAVE to get the JH-1 Hendrix wah, with a splash of a Fuzz-face. There's really no subsitute for that.

The wah you tried is probably the cheapest in the range., which is what I'm using also, the GCB-95.

But if you want a Jimi wah with even more Oomph.... you absolutely MUST get the ZW-45, Zakk Wylde Signature Wah

I don't think I can get that Wah yet, at least not until Xmas.....My phone is acting weird and will have to get a new one first.

Or I could ask for a Zakk Wylde pedal board set for Xmas..... YUM!

Bentley's has alot of the Dunlop Wah's there.
But don't expect them to let you test all of them.
Unless you plomp down a credit card first....No service man.

Weeping Demon is definately more towards the metal crowd..... DEFINATELY not as suitable for a funk musician. I'm not saying that you absolutely CAN'T use the Weeping Demon for funk, but you're better off getting a Dunlop Wah compared because of it's unique tones.

Of course!!!! The only difference between the regular Dunlop Wah pedals and his pedals? Slash uses a Custom Cunlop Wah Rack system. Basically, he has a central unit in his rack, and that unit distributes the signal to the controllers all over the stage.

But remember, get a wah which suits your musical playing. If you're playing funk, don't bother with a weeping demon, or for that matter, a Wylde Wah. But if you're playing alot of metal or hard rock music, then those will suit you fine.

GCB-95 I think retails for about 350 bucks. Not sure about the Vox one though.

Right now, I can't decide between a Rotovibe or the Wylde Wah. Obviously, I already have a wah, but the Wylde Wah has a much wider range (AND with Fasel inside!), but the rotovibe will only be used sparringly, although it's something that I might play alot with it....

Guys? What are your picks??

Yeah, but the Rotovibe also adds to the arsenal.

But amazingly, I found the Dimebag a little Too overpowering. Remember, I still want to play alot of Hendrix and funk style music too. And the Wylde Wah is unique because it comes with a little tuner so you can adjust how much "Pressure" you can add to the pedal.

Sometimes I just leave it on at a certain level, just for the sound. That one, I will need a very hard pressure. But for Funk where you "Rock the cradle", you need a very loose wah. So that's why a Wylde Wah is very useful also.

Get a dedicated Wah pedal man. The Zoom 707II doesn't have that full Wah sound that we all know and love. Even the GFX-5 wah isn't all that good.

Get the GCB-90. It's relatively cheap and is VERY versatile.

To me, it does the basic effects well.... I get to play around with lots of different effects with lots of great combinations. Also, with the expression pedal, you get to play around alot more, like the flange, tremolo, volume and pitch effects alot more. I can faithfully replicate alot of Tom Morello's stuff in his new Audioslave days. Like A Stone can be faithfully replicated.

I also like to play with the different distortion effects that you can get and the amp modelling is pretty decent. In fact, I'm actually using the tube amp modelling which is connected to my ZW-44.... and it does a good job of replicating Zakk's tone.

Have you thought of the Boss ME-50???
It doesn't come with amp modelling, but it has all the cool effects that Boss is famous for. Because it is a dedicated effect module, you don't have to worry about the amp settings and all that.

Has anyone tried the Vox V-847 Wah???

I'm really tempted to try it out, since it's close to the same specs that Jimi used to use.

For all the famous songs that you remember from Jimi, he was probably using the Vox.

Didn't know that until I read the article. I thought it was Jim Dunlop that made his first wah..... AND he found out the unique sound of the Wah from................

Eric Clapton when he was in Cream.

I like the tittle Tuner peg that comes with the ZW-45. The one to adjust how hard or soft the pedal is.... I'm always picky on those kind of things.....
And besides...... it's Zakk's Wah!!!

YES YES AND YES!
The Zakk Wylde Wah is actually modelled after the original Jimi Hendrix Wah, which itself was GREAT for funk AND it has Fasel Inside.

The Wylde Wah was really built for metal with that touch of that classic Dunlop Wah sound. If you're after Slash's tone, I think this is the closest thing you'll get besides a rack system.

But honestly, if you want a Wah for funk, then get the original Jimi Hendrix wah.... If you want something with alot of Gain, get the Dime Wah... If you want a metal wah with a rich deep end, get the Zakk Wylde one.

Simple as that.
