Hmmm... louder? Or issit bolder? Not sure if they have these terms. My ES7 is already clear which I love. Whichever that can boost my built-in SC on the lappy.

u might need to take a look at Ibasso D6 or D12 which is around 1k but then i strongly recommend u to try Dacport which is very good dac with class A amp...

However, Dacport's price is 1.5k..
*
Bro, if I go for this Dacport, issit enough for my lappy? I can fork out that extra 500 if I dont need to add any amp to it.

Haha damn! Poisoned already.

Can recommend other brands and models at the price range lower than Dacport? Maybe not as good as Dacport but close lah.

I will go and audition these DACs before buying.

Ahh just notice got post about this dacport at first page. Gonna research first! tongue.gif

im a lil bit confused..
what does it mean by integrated Class A amp?
meaning DACport is DAC + AMP?
it doesn't need to pair with other amp?

It just means it does not just function as a standalone DAC, it has a amplifier rated class A, so you don't need to slap on an additional amplifier. biggrin.gif (I'll leave the technical bits and parts for someone else to explain tongue.gif)

Oh? Tested the Jade series bro?

Ok guys, I got 3 amp tested tonight, E3, E5 (bass boost on) and E11 (high gain, EQ 2). Volume I put almost at same level.

Genre: Easy Listening
Song: Allan Taylor - 01 - Colour to the Moon.flac
E3: Less bass, boost more on mid and high...  not really pleasant to my ears.
E5: More bass, a little boost on mid and high... fine for me.
E11: Better bass, mid and high... can feel bass separated from others.

Genre: Rock
Song: Metallica - For Whom the Bell Tolls.flac
E3: Bass, mid and high boosted together. Mid is really clear.
E5: Bass boost is good, a little boost on mid and less on high.
E11: Bass Boost is punchy, mid and high balance.

Genre: Pop
Song: 09. The Lady In My Life - Michael Jackson.flac
E3: Bass boosted, but more on mid. Mid make low and high not so clear.
E5: Bass boost is good, a more on mid and less on high. But better than E3
E11: Bass Boost is good, mid and high balance.

Genre: Classical
Song: 01 - Mozart- Violin Concerto no. 4 in D major, KV 218 - Allegro.flac
E3, E5 and E11: Balance in all. I can listen in pleasure with any of the amp. I can feel, I was in live show.

Genre: Wes Coast
Song: 07 - Dr. Dre - What's The Difference.flac
E3: Bass boost not so good, sound like broken speaker, mid is low. high a bit shallow.
E5: same like E3.
E11: Bass Boost a little better, mid and high same as E3 and E5.

Genre: Test sound
Song: 11 - Ultrasone production - Feuerwerk 2002 (soundclip - excerpt, Ultrasone production).flac - It's Firework sound.
E3: All firework was fired next to me. Not so real, can't determine the distance.
E5: Some firework was fired next to me.
E11: I can hear the distance between firework. Feel like the firework burned outside my house now. Some are fired behind me.

Wow this is a very detail review there..haha... thumbup.gif

Apart from the DACport...
the only DAC that comes close would be the D6 Fer de lance...
And maybe the D12...never heard it before...

but if u listening off a computer....
Nothing beats the DACport! brows.gif

The DACport is neutral...no coloration to the sound...so u can even feed it to your favourite amp!

I have build 2, it is not hard to do it. You can visit their web site and have a look. All sort of modules are available for you to choose: I/V conversion, SPDIF selector, Volume control, power.....
I suggest you to read the integration document, it covered all and very clear and straight forward.

WOW!! 630 USD compare to dacport which is 399 USD shakehead.gif . (i cant afford it biggrin.gif )

biggrin.gif . yes. its good to start from bottom. but its not always the best way rite. upgrading cost more that getting it from the start. But in the end, it depends smile.gif .

Any1 can also try a 2ndhand dac. atleast ur loss is not that much brows.gif .

icon_rolleyes.gif .

Yup. Getting a headphone 1st is always a better way. Cos u got a dac rite. & d best way is wait for jaben bundle. For sure its d best bang for buck. But sometime it dosnt come with the phone that u want. So its depend on luck. icon_rolleyes.gif .

im also looking for 1. & this come in 1st place

http://www.moon-audio.com/cardas-clear-ser...-cable-372.html

or maybe this is good enough

http://www.audioconnect.com/html/kimber_usb_cable.html

icon_rolleyes.gif

no 1 bring HDP in?

had u ever tried dacport before? how do u compare vs HDP? (symphonica-ed setup)

http://www.head-fi.org/products/centrance-...one-amp/reviews

both got +ve & -ve.. no 1 wins rclxm9.gif

dacport got less headroom, less input but portable & no hiss prob.
hdp got hiss prob with iem, need power supply but more input & headroom.

LMAO! DACPort poisoning again. Keep it slow la guys. Give newbies like us the chance to understand and familiarized with DAC first. LOL.

I mean, go straight to the best like DAC Port no fun what. Then you stop and nothing much to do already. At the end we get bored, sell the DAC Port and change to new hobby. Hehe.

Thats why I start with DIY-type one. Because seriously, I dunno anything about DAC before about a week ago. LOL.

And some more I'm waiting for my first headamp also. So I'm taking it very slowly. Hehehe.

As for now, I have completed my "audiophile starter kit". rclxm9.gif LOL.

Waiting for my DIY-type DAC and amp to arrive at my doorstep. cool.gif

Great reviews there nordingh! thumbup.gif Should put at the first post. biggrin.gif
