You won't stand a chance. I done it before using 5 lbs braided with 3g micro spoon and line snapped on hookup. That's not even at the spot where all the big mommas hang out.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!..

Noobie here, might join u guys but still need to check whether i m free on 2nd June. I will confirm my attendance later.

I am currently using a 2-4kg rod but my cheap ass reel is about to spoil, i hope my fishing rod can handle the fishes in Jurassic Park. Is anyone here kind enough to lend me one of ur spare reel, promise will take good care of it ?  biggrin.gif

Since bro Rory said he gonna bring some sponsors for us to test some reels, i think i would use this opportunity to expose to more reels before i go buy a new 1.

I am currently using spinning reel, would love to learn bait casting.
*
The only problem with BC setup i find is that it's freaking difficult to almost impossible to cast micro lure as far compared to a spinning setup. The spool just wouldnt get going...

I read u guys mentioning places at Pudu and also Kepong. but afraid that if I go alone, might kena "potong".
Any bros can bring me and of course give some advise at what to buy?  notworthy.gif

One thing I hate about rapala is that the swimming depth of the lure is not printed on the box...

I've gotten my power pro 5lbs at Ocean Sea if not mistaken i think 35 bucks, can't really remember but that price is only for the red colored ones while the green ones are sold at normal price. Not sure why but i suppose they are clearing stock.

Not sure about the XT but for that kinda price and that kinda specs, i'm a happy man but i'm kinda interested at the shimano amenista as well. 1 set inclusive or rod less than 900 over less than 1k can get....tangan itchy lol but luckily wallet koyak else gonna tapao back home de

Got the same string and poundage from the same place as you. RM30.

Bro Inv,
Brake setting as in baitcast reel?

1. Magnetic Brake
2. Centrifugal Brake
3. Hybrid Magnetic + Centrifugal Brake

Each reel has it's own characteristic and it will definitely vary from one reel setting to another one.

I'll give some example
1. Magnetic Brake
- Abu Garcia Revo STX 2010 = Set to 3
- Team Daiwa Luna 203 = Set to 5
- Team Daiwa TDX = Set to 1

2. Centrifugal Brake
- Shimano Curado 200G6 = 2 pins
- Abu Garcia Revo MGX = 2 pins(supposed to have 4 and not adjustable, i remove 2 pin permanently)
- Banax Armis = 1.5 clicks
- Okuma Halogen = 6 pins

3. Hybrid Brakes
- Abu Garcia Revo STX 2011 = 2pins and magnetic set to 4

be it whatever the setting would be, i hardly adjust the brakes to suit the lure. smile.gif Naturally we will feather the spool during the cast anyway
*
Yes. Baitcast reels. I have problem casting far using micro lures on my major craft go.emotion 6'3 8-14 lbs rod with curado51e.

My brake setting is at 3. Will try 2 and give it a go.

I'm using ygk braid, 16lbs. Lure weight around 3.5g tormentor 5cm.

I couldn't get the distance coz it seems tht the lure lost momentum during mid flight. If I try to flick it harder/faster, then guarantee got beehoon and still don't get the distance that I want.
