hey guys, i'm thinking of getting a baitcasting reel and rod. budget around rm500 for both. mostly used in freshwater pond with the occasional jetty/beach fishing. any recommendation?

what's the pros and cons of a round profile compared to a low profile? i did some reading and alot of sites recommends abu garcia ambassadeur c3. how much would that typically cost?

a friend recommended major craft go.emotion rod + shimano curado 51e.. busted my budget like 100%..

thx for the suggestion. might take the 2 set route instead...

another friend of mine donated a set of rod+reel to me today. A lemax red sword and a shimano sahara 750fb

i noticed that the lemax red sword's guide tip is broken, so i think i need to get it replaced. i've searched through youtube and there are few video that teaches you how to do it, so now, all i need to do is get a new tip to replace it.



as for the shimano sahara, it spins well, but most probably gonna send it for a service anyhow.

checking the specs of both rods and reels, it seems that it's a bit mismatched. I got a super light reel matched with a 'heavier' rod.

decisions..decisions... why can't the fund be unlimited......

a spinning reel that can fit 200m and above of 20lbs braided line.. hmm... as braided is thinner than mono, should i be looking at the 4000 series or the the 5000 series or spinning reels? what reel from daiwa/shimano would you recommend?

I got my rod tip guide replaced for rm8 at tacklebox@ss15 this afternoon.



Budget should be around rm200 or so. I don't think I have the opportunity to fish by boat yet. Even if I did, it won't be anywhere deep.

went to bkt cerakah air kuning dam yesterday.

we started from 8.30am to 11.30am and the whole group only caught 1 fish and i caught myself a reel.. haha.. lemax rod with shimano fx2500

For your budget, u can get Abu Garcia pro max for around RM230 in kepong tackle + braided line.

Sorry, what I meant to say is that with RM300, you can get a Pro max 2 for RM230 and have enough leftover to get braided line as well.

Pro max 1 in ss4 shop going for RM190.

The shop in ss4 has tufline n ygk strings. Ygk is about RM79 for their midrange braid. Forgot the price for tufline.

went to subang lake last sunday, no catch at all for the combined 5 hours we were there... might drop by again later.
