Had back and bi's. By the time I was hitting bi's , my forearm was so feeling so pump, I can't feel shit in my biceps. Disrupted the rest of the workout. I kept stretching and massaging it, nothing bloody worked. Cortisol levels definitely went up. Stressed. Argh

Added on August 9, 2011, 8:43 pmIs there anyway I can stop something like this fro happening again? I mean, if I was feeling it in the bi's, it's terrific. But it's all in the damn forearm. I was doing one arm preacher curls, and that's when it started
*
Use straps when hitting back I suppose? Spares your forearms

Popped 2 discs 5 years ago deadlifting 505lbs. I did it twice, succeeded, my ego told me do it a third time and double pop! Then not too long ago, popped the same thing again, now recovering. Not fun. Now I deadlift light around 375-425 x 8-10 reps. I'm not going heavy anymore. Screw singles and triples.
Got so many experienced members here. Not just me.
Thanks but like I said, if i could do it, anybody else can. But then... I gotta thank my ex. LOL! Her breaking up with me gave me extra motivation!
But seriously I believe this phrase, you're born frail and weak, you die the same way, how you look like in between is entirely up to you.
Lol, btw, latest progress pics on abs up. But I seriously advice you guys, don't eat like me. I'm not mind f***ing people on purpose, I just keep getting cut without dieting. I posted the meals for fun.

You put a whole new definition to the word 'light'. Seriously. How the f*** is 4 plates per side light?

to those familiar with Prof X from the tnation forums. the videos of him in a training lab with Christian Thibaudeau for the indigo 3g project. Another huge mofo, and even more impressive considering hes a natural..

hi guys, just started lifting few weeks ago
one question here, to restart or not between reps of deadlift/barbell row. i know that it's better to restart between reps
the trainer at my gym, came up to me saying i was doing it wrong. that the deadlift/barbell row should be done without restarting, tried to explain to him the reason but he started telling all his cert and qualifications..
*
wait, BB row? you mean you're dropping the weights on the floor for BB rows for every rep?

are you briefly touching the floor for DL or restarting at every rep, ie, doing singles continuously? probably a video would be nice so we are at the same page here.

Hello all, kinda need some input on what I'm doing right now.
Have been doing weight training for about 10 months now, and only seriously getting into it for the past 2 months.

I am 180cm at 73kg.  I am mostly lean but have this lower belly fat which I want to get rid of.  My waist size is 33 1/2 inch.
I'm choosing the cutting route at this time as I want to get my waist down and abs showing before I clean bulk up.

I train 3 times a week and doing cardio 3 times a week post work out.

My diet is:

Breakfast :  33gms oats + 1 scoop whey
Work out
Post work out:  1 scoop whey + creatinine + BCAA
Lunch : 50gms brown rice + 150gms chicky breast + 1tsp olive oil
Snack (3pm) : 50gms brown rice + 150gms chicky breast + 1tsp olive oil
Dinner (6pm) : 150gms chicky breast + veges or papayas
Snack (9pm):  150gms salmon
Prebed: 1 scoop whey

That's roughly about 1900cals.
Carbs 120gms, protein 220grams, fats 30-35gms (rough estimates)
Am I doing this right?
And if it's right, what the's time frame like in seeing visible results?  Cause...damn, this hypocalorie diet is making me cranky!
*
tbh i would rather bulk and then cut. bulking involves eating more than your maintenance calories for you to grow. to clean bulk would mean you have to count your calories to about a few hundred more than your maintenance, which i think is no easy feat. its more expensive to go thru a clean bulk too..

as for time frame, kinda depends on other different factors, genes, recovery time and workout routines? major factors there..

how do you encourage someone to start weightlifting? lately my mother is pretty worried over my younger bro who spends all his time in front of the pc. hes on semester break and has loads of time in his hands.. want to encourage the fella to have a healthier lifestyle and since he doesnt really play sports i suppose weightlifting is the easiest thing for him to learn and continue doing when he goes back to school in a months time.

thing is, he doesnt seem interested, not even when he has a bench and a couple of db's in the house (where he spends ALL of his time). I have taught him the basic moves, bookmarked my fave sites to get articles and advise and still no luck..

yeah, i more or less just advised him that his current lifestyle is not healthy and its really up to him to have the determination to change. tried forcing him by working out with him too but hes just not into it i guess.

i think i made an impression when i asked him to move a flowerpot that needs to be moved and he couldnt budge it, waited until he gave up and moved it myself tongue.gif . lets see how it goes...

Not sure how your routine goes. But I either always superset through different exercises and only rest 45 ~ 75 sec between sets (if I do one body part for tat day) or superset through different exercises for different parts with no rest (rest time for tat part is used to workout another part). Then end up everything with a 15~ 20 mins cardio. My energy is not a problem, but concentration is, especially when the mood is not right. Everyone would have problem with lower belly. But anatomically, consistently working on lower part of body helps that part. Still trying though.

Good idea, but don't hurt his self-esteem. LOLx.

Remembered when I worked as part time catering waiter, worked just like hard labour, have to carry "tong gas". One of the girls try to carry it, and my friend (a guy) was try to help and so he ask me to carry it together with him.End up, I just lift it up and carry on my shoulder. The girl asked "Is it that light?" I ter-said "yeah." And my friend was somehow embarassed and showing me  mad.gif whole day long. LOLx.

I'm mostly using diet to bring out the lower abs. With single digit bf %, it'll pop. Hopefully.

Mikey,

I had the same problem with my brother. But it really is up to them to make that decision and motivate themselves, otherwise they'll slack right off first opportunity they get and go back to squatting....in front of the PC all day.
*
yeah, i should really bring him to gym one weekend too. when you see that many equipment and weights dedicated just for weightlifting i kinda thinks its a physiological boost too.

Introduce him to the guys at the gym.
Being one of the brotherhood is a stronger pull than the equipment IMHO. Have them throw in encouragement for him to come too, you know that feeling where you hate letting people down and you gotta go?  brows.gif

yeah good idea as well. got a few guys in mind as we speak. thanks man.. if THOSE guys can encourage me just by going thru their routine imagine what would it do for him

Seriously bad day for me. One of those days where everything seems to go wrong and the things you're trying to avoid hits you in the face.

Blur enough to cut my knuckles, don't know how so was bleeding through the sets a bit.

On the deadlift at 275, which is relatively heavy for me, started well enough. A couple of sets of 225, then up to 275.
First pull to get that deadweight moving upwards, felt that dreaded small pop/snap in the middle of my lower back.

"Oh f***"

Lowered the bar immediately. Thankfully it wasn't a sharp pain indicating a slipped disc, suspect more of a muscle issue. But it was seriously sore throughout, took some focus to finish the rest of the workout. At times could barely pick up the DBs off the floor. What pisses me off is it wasn't even a PR attempt.  mad.gif

Gotta KIV some exercises like the squats until further notice. Grrr.

be thankful it wasnt any worse man. get well soon!

@@" insane amount of food you can eat, think of the poor african and third world country children who died of malnutrition daily, if you portion sufficient to supply for a small family of 3 means in africa country you can feed a large number of children! Body builder like you guys sure have big big appetite. Can you 'whack' one whole chicken?
*
we're -still- a third world country. think of the first world countries like US and the obesity problem they have there. compare how THEY eat to the people suffering famine atm. that paints a way bigger picture doesnt it.

at least we are eating for a reason. do you think its easy to wolf down huge portions of food and LIKING it? i was practically force feeding myself when i was bulking, blegh..

We're developing country 'considerably'

US have higher rate of obesity mainly contributed by Fast Food Chain. Because one Whopping Burger from Hungry Jacks cost less than healthy food from market and Coke is cheaper than mineral water. They don't eat proper meal is additional factor contributing to obesity. Simply because the fast food in US is heavily subsidized by the US Government. And do you know how your tasty juicy burger or tantalizing chicken from KFC or Nando's come from?

There is a documentary movie called Meet your Meat and Food Inc. If you are free, take some time to watch the whole video.

That's part of the reason why I am a Lacto-ovo vegetarian.
*
definitely the wrong place to start converting people to vegetarians, lol.

frankly i dont care how the americans how the americans are obese, i just know that they are. fast food is probably one of the factors/

I am letting you know only. Additional knowledge also ok right.

My comments are clean and clear. No intention or what so ever of indicating of converting you guys into vegetarian. It is not ethical to do so. You are receiving and interpreting my message in a different manner.
