I once sent a reply mail to him after he kept on changing instruction about our lab report. The reply mail is purposely "reply to all", all same batch read it, and it's mostly made up of wordings used by him.
What I find him lacking is the respect towards students. He thinks that students shall never disobey him. That's what I see in him.

There's another time when he asked me out to read out tutorial question (in an attempt to put me into shame?). So, what I did is some extreme twisting of mic, and speak so so so so closely to the mic. His face darkened at once and rushed over to bend my mic away. Wahahaha, I happy what!

You're gonna cry once you find seniors selling those books at a much cheaper price.  tongue.gif

I Amazon-ed the reading list I got and found the word I hate MOST - genetics.

And are you allowed to post up the papers without the Exam Office's commission?
*
The things is right.. I think Seniors would only buy what the department recommended. And undeniably, internet has much more wider choice drool.gif

Amazon would usually be my last resort for books, their shipping fee could be quite high sometimes.

It's past year.. freely available.

Better still, use up your library borrow quota and grab 8 of them back every 3 weeks. You still get to change the books shall you hate one.

Even my steam table is also a photostated copy. I have yet to purchasae an engineering book in my life.

i just read the on-campus rules and regulations. LOL @ the no girls being allowed on guys floor (vice versa) rule and will be punished if caught biggrin.gif

also no smoking/drinking allowed in your own room? (good thing im not a smoker) biggrin.gif

im just curious, how strict are they on these rules? what if they find a girl in a guys room who are smoking? what's the punishment?
*
They are as strict as our nation's law enforcers!!!

(honestly, I don't know.. but I doubt they'll enforce it on us, unless there are substantial monetary reward (charging you for that printer you brought in).. we're university students for god sake

thnxx for that!!! i'll contact them as soon as i can ....... btw do u know whether minors are allowed to undertake part time employment through the university??? i have taken the BEng/MEng in mechanical engineering this sep but i just turned 17 and was wondering if i could start working over there since the extra $cash$ would be of great help........i am an international student by the way
*
Just like what TJJ said.. given that the location of Nottingham, I doubt there will be many jobs available. Moreover, if you're looking for part time job outside the university, you'll be facing a huge transport problem. First you live in campus hall. Second, although the bus service may not able to accommodate your working hours. Thirdly, there aren't many jobs in Semenyih either... it's really a small humble town

I think the scholarship is re-assessed every academic year. So you need to get into the top 10% by the end of your 1st year to qualify. Please take the effort to email the staffs here, ask them about the scholarship opportunities for an Indian like you. Also, follow up any local scholarship yourself. Such initiative could return you with a good scholarship package, definitely worth it.
*
Funnily though.. they were like 15 people in Economics class last year.. so top 10%.. I presume 2 person? Hahahas why did they discontinue the annual High Achiever Scholarships (now it's only first year and the minimal requirement has increased).. D=< they are really reluctant to give out money, aren't they? Blood suckersss

cant meet the entry requirements so decided to utilize back door? well just want to see is there any possibilities like that can try on...because everyone knows the only good ipts will be monash and nottingham...the rest...haih
*
Did you know.. the minimum requirement here for Pharmacy is the same as the minimum requirement for Pharmacy there in the UK Nott? (AAB) =) Sorry to say, but there's no back door for you. Nottingham doesn't take it from the back rolleyes.gif

[addon] Hey anyone in Nottingham heard of the "Fire Extinguisher" case during the blackout a month or two ago?

I don't have to throw stink bomb to be famous, I'm already famous. cool2.gif

Anyhoo.. tell me when you've moved in.. might find you when I go Nott to get my room key.

When I opened an HSBC account here in Bahrain (where I'm from) they told me if I use an HSBC ATM in malaysia they will charge me let's say around 10RM
And if I use other ATMs they will charge around 20RM
*
Here's my suggestion.

Come to Malaysia, withdraw a small amount of money from HSBC when you're at KLIA (at least for a week).. then ask the admission office for Letter to Open Bank Account.. open a Maybank account (it's pretty convenience with MBB).. then have your money in HSBC transferred to you Maybank account. Viola!

p/s it works best if your parents give you one lump sum of money for a year or more.

Hey guys,

I know its very late, can anyone tell me when is the application deadline?
the website says 28 august but i just want to double confirm  icon_question.gif

and also whether is the reception/office open tomorrow (saturday)?
i already send my scanned application forms and supporting documents via email but i'm not sure whether they received it or will they respond in time. So, i'm planning to go nottingham tomorrow to submit again by hand.

i'm not trying to ask for spoon feeding. i tried to called them twice but no one answer  icon_question.gif
*
Call again. I just spoke to a person in the office.

p/s Office is still open on next Monday.. half day.

Just a head-up.. the University is having a massive internal-reconstructions.. as for the Admin office.. ALL [U] admin departments have been moved to a Hall. Your application might have been lost in the moving process.

Printers and hairdryers are available in all rooms?
How about fridges?
*
As per your reply, no they are not "available".. they're now "allowed" to bring in without additional electricity charges.

ONE (1) Fridge is provided in the common... if you need to bring a mini-fridge, you're allowed at an additional monthly charge.
