QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ Aug 15 2011, 03:08 PM) LOL it's not that bad la. It's one big bathroom with 4 partitions + 3 basins. Of the 4 partitions, 2 is for big business, one for heated shower, last one for unheated shower. Your problem would be clogged up basins due to foreign materials by irresponsible neighbours. OH I gave wrong info lol 4 showers haha. Eww imagine you're brushing your teeth or washing face and have backflow due to clogged up basin....

QUOTE(arsenal717 @ Aug 15 2011, 06:39 PM) hey guys I just read the front page. thanks for being so helpful thus far. I have couple questions. I've never gotten mail by UNMC so far with all my offers being emailed to me. However I called UNMC last week to check the status of my application and they informed me I had an unconditional and I would get it by next week. Am I supposed to get this by MAIL or EMAIL? Also same thing goes for the on campus accommodation. Will I get the offer by email or mail? Secondly I'm curious to know if UNMC has a football team? or perhaps even intramural sports where you join teams and play for fun? Added on August 15, 2011, 6:47 pmOHH PS I almost forgot. How's the internet connection in the on campus rooms? I heard it blocks P2P which is a bummer. how many mbps for dl? cable or wifi? Also any USB broadband internet you guys would recommend if the on campus internet is shite? Cable. And you're not talking about Mbps, it's only 512 kbps if I'm not mistaken, or slower. Yes yes you'll have lotsa sports, once you get in, probably about Sept you'll see the announcements The unconditional letter will come through registered post. As for the accommodation I've got no idea.

I always thought you guys were younger Yeah there was this Streamyx wifi when you just couldn't bear with the slow uni wifi. It's called Streamyx Zone, you've gotta have your own account, but during then some of us knew about this demo account Free high speed uncensored usage muaha.

QUOTE(tanjinjack @ Aug 15 2011, 07:19 PM) When was the last time we push through a page within just a few hours? LOL.. As for the facebook group, if it's what Alexander suggests where we do the SAME thing as we do now, chances are the lowyat thread will eventually become not that important. People surf facebook more than lowyat. Then some day we will be more inactive on this thread. I don't know how the traffic comes to this thread. For me, it's me lurking in lowyat.net and find this thread some day. Others come from Google? How likely is our facebook page being spotted via Google Search even if it's active? It's more for.. keeping in touch, image posting, drinking sessions, tea sessions, etc lol. Can't see any real benefits with it... No one's gonna take charge of managing the list of accommodation available...........at least not for long!

QUOTE(alexander.ch_1992 @ Aug 15 2011, 07:38 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Yes, I'm in a dilemma on determining the "direction" of the page. I really do not wish to come to a scene where, once the FB Page get launched, the LYN thread gets abandoned. v4 that's the end. NOOOO.
Or it might turn out this way, the FB page will be what we are doing like first page of v4, then this thread become a chatting site for us students, random gossips like that-hot-chick-in-[name of school]. LOL.
As for the accommodation part every Friday there will be a renewed list given out in OWA. I dont mind maintaining that part as soon as I register and have access to OWA. And we could offer a tradezone or some sort, OWA only enlist them when the things being selled (like books) are ORIGINAL, no photocopied version allowed.
And I realised this thread exist when I googled University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus if I'm not wrong, it was in 3rd-4th page.
And btw, is a fb page googlable? I know friends in fb can be googled. But not sure about pages, or maybe it can be modified in the page settings? I think the moderators won't agree with you, this is Education Essentials man Pages in fb can be googled, but make sure to get the writeup and the terms (keywords) right the first time.

QUOTE(arsenal717 @ Aug 15 2011, 07:43 PM) thanks entryman and SGSuser for info. wow the internet on campus is really piss poor... one last question. do you guys use usb internet or know anyone who has used it? which of them are well covered and efficient to use in semenyih. maxis broadband? celcom broadband? or digi bb? Where the hell do you come from dude lol. Internet in Malaysia.. the most common you get in households are usually 1Mbps...and 512 kbps of course. Only this year I see more marketing on faster packages for households. I believe maxis works best there, right guys? edit: oh then get yes4g. But take note it's really not for much p2p lol, will cost you a fortune. This post has been edited by entryman: Aug 15 2011, 07:47 PM

Dang... Broga this expensive one? Might consider still staying at my home for the moment. Lol that's for people who want to live in luxury. Or probably share among friends. Maybe the rooms can fit at least 2 pax. Why don't you find someplace in TTS? It's much nearer than Broga.

QUOTE(arsenal717 @ Aug 15 2011, 08:12 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « hehe. I live in Shah Alam currently with unifi 20mbps. I download many files (shows, music, etc) daily which I probably continue to do in uni and make the big downloads when I go back to parent's home But yeah I'm aware of the common slow internet in Malaysia especially in Semenyih which is middle of no where. thanks guys. I will do some research on Yes4g and others before getting it. Digi also has a sweet deal compared to others with a decent coverage area in Semenyih. PS: I hope there are some social events that UNMC students have with drinks involved. (good stress reliever) I remember when I asked one of UNMC officers about social events and she said "we have bowling." loool Where you from dude. We can always get some duty-free liquor from Semenyih town and drink ourselves silly This post has been edited by entryman: Aug 15 2011, 08:16 PM

QUOTE(manthew @ Aug 15 2011, 08:55 PM) Speaking of halals... aren't you suppose to be refraining yourself from liqueur? I'm presuming vast majority of turkish are muslims >.< For those Muslims who drink, it's a matter of personal choice and their connection to God. Drinking, enjoying life, but still being a god fearing and responsible caring person. This I respect!

QUOTE(alexander.ch_1992 @ Aug 15 2011, 09:12 PM) O really? We'll see how it goes then coz I'll only be there around 12th, might be going back before returning again during Registration. And btw I tried Broga Pan Mee and Restoran 52 (why isnt this place suggested as one of the good place to eat eh? ) You gotta try the tomyam noodles, turn left immediately after you pass by Restoran 52, it's a house on the left. I like to add "qing tang" (plain soup) into the tomyam so it's not that sour/spicy, nice blend This post has been edited by entryman: Aug 15 2011, 09:15 PM

QUOTE(arsenal717 @ Aug 15 2011, 09:28 PM) Well I don't believe in religion. Consider myself Agnostic for now. But just because of this, it doesn't mean I'm not a responsible caring person who is civilized and aware of moral values. My parents have given me the free pass to experiment and see if I want to be associated with religion. This is how the new generation of people are turning up to be in middle east nowadays despite of the Islamic laws especially with the likes of Iranians, Turkish, Lebanese, etc. Not everyone but majority of this young generation I'd say. Are you Muslim or what? Not a Muslim. Consider me similar to yourself, but more indulged into the beliefs of Buddhism/Taoism/Hinduism. So do you eat pork? Or do you have something at the back of your mind reminding you that it's probably not such a good thing to do, though you know that it's allright. I had a non-practicing Muslim friend who was just like that haha.

Four visits with no student card. Spent few nights each time, with the longest one being one week. What do you think? If you're talking about the bus requiring a card, I've got no idea since I've never boarded one..... But never in my uni life did I ever present my student card to any guards..
