Hello everyone..I will enroll in this sept into master's degree programme in UNMC. I am looking for accommodation in TTS which is near to Uni. Does anyone have any information on renting a room in TTS?
*
There are two methods to rent a room in TTS, first category being the ones managed by the Accommodation Office under the Pioneer Century company. You can obtain the form from Nottingham's website.

I think the houses in Edu Square are taken back from Pioneer Century right?

Anyway,

The second method would be private houses, this one are privately arranged between students and landlords, usually done verbally with some form of agreement or whatever.

For method one I suggest you take the form and fax to them, it's faster. And call them up from time to time just to check on the progress. It's early August already. smile.gif

that's ok.. I'll wash my clothes at the lakeside =P

Hey do you guys often go out of campus for meals?
*
I dont think anyone would actually want to eat in the campus if they have a choice. Campus food are just too [insert own word here]. There is even one stall which has windows resembling a dispensary LOL. tongue.gif

But the Arab Food corner is quite nice tho.

Hi! I'm paying a visit to Nottingham Uni soon. I know that I can get a free shuttle bus at Kajang KTM. but is it limited only to the uni's stuff and students? If not, how do I know if that's the bus?

How much does it cost to take taxi from the KTM station to the uni? and where should I get the taxi?

Thank you!
*
You will see the "University of Nottingham" sticker on the side of the bus, it picks students up on the place which is exactly on the of opposite the stall that sells corn/jagung. It the typical Bas Sekolah, just with the Nottingham sticker on the sides. (Srsly I dunno why they dont paint the whole bus white with the logo on the side or whole bus blue with the logo as white. unsure.gif )

It's abit fugly, considering the fact that Nottingham should have the resource to use better buses.

Usually the driver wont check whether you are a student or not, I've been there four times without student ID biggrin.gif (I'm starting only on the coming September)

Taxi from Kajang KTM to Campus in taxi will cost RM35 (single journey) You will see lotsa uncles (Chinese, Malay and Indians all One Malaysia LOL) outside the KTM station.

Going for Open Day eyh?

Hi guys,I'm quite interested in the area of accounting but UNMC seems to only be offering the BA (Hons) Finance, Accounting & Management. Is there anyone here who could provide more insight regarding the BA (Hons) Finance, Accounting & Management? It seems to me like a degree that is similar to a jack of all trades, master in none.I mean, for one the duration for the degree is only 3 years, and then the modules seem to be only scratching the surface of each field.

Any one taking the course knows what exactly "Accredited by ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, and CPA Australia." means?(since they do not provide the specific number of exemptions of papers/areas for each of these professional exams/bodies)

And frankly, "Please note that the programme structure is subject to change, and the list of available modules may be modified from time to time." is a tad bit disturbing to me.If a degree is already established, shouldn't its roots and core modules be anchored firmly?(ie not that easily being subjected to changes) Would appreciate insight from anyone taking the course.Thanks.
*
Try asking Cottoncandyclouds about this, she's in that course right now.

As for your "Accredited by ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, and CPA Australia" I suppose it means the whole degree is accredited by them?

"Please note that the programme structure is subject to change, and the list of available modules may be modified from time to time" Why not calling up Nottingham/respective faculty and ask about it.

We are not officials from Nottingham anyway, if there's anything that relates with the structure and academic, it is still the best if you call up and ask (or even better, travel down and visit during open day) smile.gif

hi, thanks for your prompt response!
Is the place to get on bus right outside of the ktm station? or haf to cross a bridge or something? do you mean beside the place of selling corn or opposite the place of selling corn (which requires crossing sth?) Sorry I need detailed description coz this is my first time thr. I'm going thr to meet a professor smile.gif

how long does the bus journey usually take? n wat's the frequency of the bus?

Thank again!
*
There is a road you need to cross, the stall that sells corn is on the side BEFORE you cross the road. You need to wait for the bus on the OPPOSITE SIDE.

Bus schedule can be obtained here.

http://www.nottingham.edu.my/AboutUs/Dates...Shuttlebus.aspx

You're in extreme luck today, I happened to be still keeping a few of the photos that I took when I was bored while waiting for the bus to come.

[edit] This is the spot where I sat at the place that sells corn. The opposite place is where you should be waiting for the bus.

@tanjinjack

lol yeah got ur tag. but anyways I don't think 'humbly 101 acres' is something to shout about as local universities have much larger land area?

*
I agree with that as well. We need something that won't bother that kid in Monash thread and something that can stands out as Nottingham.

Have been thinking of "A Queen's Award Campus" or sth similar

And @Vit, enjoy your trip to Nottingham. biggrin.gif

I'm thinking of maybe we should put more photos in the -reserved- post in first page.

And about the tagline I thought of "A proud collaboration in Crops for the future" since it's Nottingham latest involvement in the research department - something uniquely belongs to us, something the kid in Monash can't argue with.

"Leading university in creating tagline"?
Hahahahhaa..
"V4, always 1 version ahead of V3."

All these will make us look childish though - more like we really answer to them already.
*
I actually like the "V4, always 1 version ahead of V3". The tagline could mean OUR V3, not their V3. It carries a double meaning. They can take it into their definition tho. tongue.gif

ME LIKE IT! rclxms.gif

I am thinking to put all these housing information to our 2nd post, and maybe change the tagline to say "off-campus rental in 2nd post" in some ways to tell others there are rooms to rent.
What wait, where's my commission!!

Anymore off-campus rental to show up? I know there are some, lazy to dig back.
*
Nope, I browsed thru Properties in Lowyat dy, try checking your OWA it's given out every Friday. I dont have access to that coz I havent even registered yet LOL.

[edit] Oops, sorry, my bad. There are quite a few more.

is anyone else taking foundation in science september intake? I have also applied for accommodation on-campus a month ago and didn't get a reply yet.. sad.gif
i also want to know how far is the off-campus accommodation from the university?
*
Guys,

pick up the phone and call them up already.

Pick up the phone, punch the number, quote your application number, ask. In fact doing it twice a week won't be too much I think, it gives them pressure (if they can feel it) and speeds up application processing (hopefully) biggrin.gif

Don't resort to emailing, I tried a few times and the fastest time they give me a reply (which I still think is some customized generated respond coz it's awfully short) is 4 days.

Don't just sit there and wait, taking the initiative is part of being a Uni student. There will be a lot of applications since September is the main intake for all programmes. Surely you do not want to risk yours and get placed in some 4th or 5th choice right? smile.gif

And Sara, off campus accommodation is about 2-3km away from the campus.

Here's a detailed layout of the whole TTS area.

Hey tjj I suggest we pin the map (and your reply just now) in the accommodation post in first page.. If not it'll be hard (and lazy for us) referring back once the thread continue to expand.

Just received the email regarding Registration Day for September intake!! biggrin.gif

I suggest we change the tagline to "Welcoming all students for September 2011 (Accommodation ads on 2nd Post)" for this/next month.

Hi, I just received my A-level results and they are: A (Math), B (Physic), B (Econ).

Do I fulfill the minimum requirement for the mechanical degree course?

And also, am I too late to apply for it?
*
MissIceRina we have posted the link of it on the first page of the thread, or alternatively you can just google it up. It's on the website. Why asking things that are already obviously there eh? biggrin.gif

http://www.nottingham.edu.my/Engineering/C.../Admission.aspx

There, direct link. As for the "am I too late for it". I dont think you are late coz it's just two days after the results are released right? But try submitting your application as soon as possible.

QUOTE(Sara1122 @ Aug 13 2011, 06:09 AM)
I have already tried calling them and it's always a bad connection. I'm an international student and I will be arriving to Malaysia on the 13th of september. I have already received my registration information too.

Are there free transportation from the off campus accommodation to the university? or will I need a car?

Sorry for asking too much, it'll be my first time in Malaysia ever doh.gif though I'm really excited! rclxm9.gif
*
There will be shuttle bus every hour or so, bringing students from off campus (TTS area) to the Uni.

You're an international student? WELCOME TO MALAYSIA IN ADVANCE! biggrin.gif And sry for being tactless earlier, I thought you were those Malaysian students who are reluctant to call Accommodation and choose to post here instead. tongue.gif

And trust me, I am just as excited as you are, even tho I'm a Malaysian student. biggrin.gif

what are the chances of going to the notts uk via twinning for the 2nd year?..are there very limited places?
*
What do you mean by "going to the notts uk via twinning for the 2nd year"?

Right now we have two types of transfer.

- The Inter Campus exchange programme, spending one semester or one academic year in the the UK / China campus.

http://www.nottingham.edu.my/International...oing/UK/UK.aspx

http://www.nottingham.edu.my/International...hina/Index.aspx

-Full transfer, meaning you leave UNMC and complete the rest of your studies in overseas campus.

If you are talking about Inter Campus exchange programme,

Whatever the case might be, do seek advice from your school as well as UNMC International Office, they are the ones who really knows all the procedure and all that. smile.gif
