Do we have to pay to retake any exams?
And how are the top 10% of students for the Dean's Excellence Scholarship are chosen? Is it just by comparing the average scores of the modules for each of the 3 semesters(foundation). And what is usual threshold mark for this scholarship, for foundation in engineering.

during my time, you'll need to pay RM50 regardless of how many subjects you are going to retake.

It's about 30:70 I believe, 30 being internationals. We have about 4000 students. You are seeing probably a lot less students because we are having our exams at the moment. People either hide in some places to study or are scratching their heads and cursing their lecturers for the tough questions in exam halls.

it is symptomatic of race polarisation and awareness that is the hallmark of msia political landscape and policies, that the first opinion of an educational establishment is the racial make-up of the students....

It is a very diverse uni and I would say mostly are Chinese.

The distribution COULD be:

35% Chinese ( It's either their parents are rich or they themselves is smart enough to get scholarship to pay the expensive fees )
20% Indian ( No comment )
15% Malay ( Most of them are MARA r*b***h and under scholarship, live like a king )
30% Others ( Foreigner, exchange students from UK is popular with local chinese girl, exchange students from China is popular with local chinese guy, got one bunch of Korean students popular within the school but they bear no resemblance to Kpop singer AND the kicker, NIKKA with their great fragrance smell who always lust for local girls, malay girl also cant escape ) and etc.

JUDGE for yourself when you are here if you can get in.

There are two badminton courts.

You may direct your questions over here,

I believe there are 8 indoor badminton courts. (2 in the badminton hall, 6 in the multipurpose hall, they are next to each other.)

One reason you see less locals when lecture is commencing is because most locals stay off-campus, while international students get to stay on-campus.

When you get to attend one of those fun fair events in the campus, you'll get to see who's the boss. brows.gif

But then again, locals make less of a splash in the campus generally coz we're more subtle in the way we bring ourselves. Foreign students are 'louder'.

If you want to see local students, go to SA Building first floor. Foreign students mostly hang around at the Arab stall area in SA ground floor.

I was worried about a possible overwhelming African population before I joined UNMC, then I realise, there're more Indians and Middle Easterns.

You don't need to be an Islam to have an account in Bank Islam. Proof is me here, an account holder of Bank Islam with full body intact.

oh, so are you getting loan from ptptn? is there any bank beside bank islam? i didnt see Maybank inside where i thought maybank approves most of the colleges or universities... if bank islam the only choice, i think i will need to convince my mom, she hates islam(she's kind of older generation way of thinking)

Yes it does, any combination as long as you can pay the fee in the UK, and as long as you meet a fairly low academic requirement.

Nope, I am under a government scholarship, but I believe they work pretty much the same way - application is still a big big pain. You don't get to choose, they decide for you. It's usually either Bank Islam, CIMB (the crab bank) or Bank Simpanan Nasional for most (probably all) institutions in Malaysia, each appointed by PTPTN for whatever reasons they see fit. Feel thankful that Bank Islam runs a branch here since last year so that things are a lot easier.

It's not hard to tell your mum - either get a Bank Islam account, or no PTPTN. Her choice.

Im a student in IT. I have a diploma in Computer Studies. Most of my subjects are theories and programmings. But I realize I am more interested in hardware then software. Is it possible for me to continue Degree in Engineering? I have credits in physics and chemistry in SPM. Got a b+ in Maths.
