I pass p2 and p6, fail p3.

I think some ask about p6 stuff.
I solely rely on my lecturer's notes. I didnt use Choong Kwai Fatt's textbook. My lecturer told me that there is no suitable textbook for p6.
Plus, p6 subject is always subject to changes. I'm afraid my notes is not up-to-date. I still intend to keep it.
Btw, i only manage to pass p6 on the second attempt...with 62 marks.

How to study p3?
Last time, i actually gave up on p3 over a month before exam.

And what other optional paper should i take apart from p6?
how's p5? is it more or less like p3?

*
there is no 'one way' to study P3 that can guarantee you a Pass. the important thing bout studying P3 is you must understand how business works, you then need to apply those models you have studied into the case studies such as 5 Forces, Value Chain Analysis etc. if you don't really know how it works, then you have to start bullshitting as if you know, try to get some marks there. After i took my P3 paper, i was not confident that i can pass because my sitting did not ask bout Value Chain/5 Forces, SWOT etc, almost all were scenarios where i have to start writing stories. As long as you write something which is relevant then should have some marks.

the new p5 examiner is very theoretical, now there is more theories in the paper compare with last time. It's more bout evaluation and application of models (quite similar to P3), P5 is like the upgraded version of P3. The last sitting i took P5, i actually did not know how to answer on the application of Performance Pyramid into the scenario & how to set KPI but i did not care much, i just keep on writing.

i also expected myself to fail after taking p3 and p5 but surprisingly i passed both with 60 and 66. As long as you are good in theory and writing, both should be ok

Took p4 and p6, passed both.

I would definitely recommend P4 if you can understand the key concepts and you don't like to memorise stuff. There are only a few key concepts to remember and you need to be able to link them well and use all of them. In addition to that, you need to have good business sense (being good at talking cock), and you're set for P4 !

The thing about the P6 examiner is that she's a bit weird. The questions from last sitting were quite general imo. For the whole paper , there wasn't much calculations, probably about 80% was writing. You need to grasp the theories behind taxation quite well. After seeing the questions, i thought the answers would be complicated, but they were simpler than i thought.

hi dear,
who are your p6 lec ya?
i took Low Chin Ann class but failed, his class more on copy answers and focus on calculation. he is good actually, but failed result so that i need help from others...

i think want to take 2nd term class from other lec, mayb can absorb another technique.

Paper Details: F8 INT Aud. & Ass.
Result: Pass
Mark: 63
Paper Details: P2 INT Corp. Rep.
Result: Pass
Mark: 71
Paper Details: P3 Bus. Ana.
Result: Pass
Mark: 82

Never thought I would have done that good for P3, I thought I would have only passed marginally - or worst, failed!
And F8 was a real hard paper for me, though everyone was saying it's easy. The only 60+ in my ACCA exams so far.

hi there. P1 is all about reading. theres a whole lot of stuff to memorize but memorizing isnt good enough unless you know how to anticipate the pattern of questions. So do a lot of past years and exam revision kit. That will guide you on how to arrange your answers accordingly. And time management is totally important.

as for p2, i failed myself 1st seating. they key failure was over emphasis on calculations and i poorly scored 35 marks only cry.gif in fact nowadays, theoretical questions on standards IAS and IFRSs are bearing lot more marks than just calculation. Last seating i remembered theres only 30 marks for calculation and the rest for standards assuming u strike out the optional calculation question. also, P2 love to test new stuff. like when IFRS 9 came out, theres a whole 25 marks for that. they also like to test on issues with current accounting treatments, like weaknesses and such. i rectified my mistakes and got 58 this time. nothing much but its still something i can be proud of.

Hi everyone. I just got my p1 failed.
Just wanted some opinions in choosing between (p1, p2, and p3) or (p1, p6, and p7)

* i had passed my F6 and F8 and i think i do have the knowledge from both papers. And since im graduated from degree which with no ideas at all in those F papers except F6 and F8. So i think choosing P6 and P7 give lil bit advantage for me at least.

So, which sounds better for P1 to be squeezing into. (enrolled P2 and P3 this semester)

Thanks

I wouldn't say the same for P6. F6 level tax with P6 level tax are worlds apart. Ask your lecturer. or maybe sifu here can explain? from what i heard, p6 is crazy rclxub.gif

Time wise, if you do P1 with option p6 p7 is better. First, there is the gap. at least you will have the weekend and a few days until wednesday to prepare for P1. p123 is back to back and is such mental pain.

and then, theres the syllabus. There are internal control topic in P1 which could come in handy for P7. I think theres more to it than just internal controls.

I think it is better to concentrate on finishing off p1,p2 and p3 first. The optional papers leave it for next round.p6 and p7 got different focus from f6 and f8 so advantage wise is minimal.

oh, i seriously did not touch p3 syllabus at all for over a month. both papers p2 and p6 are quite heavy. i dont want to take any risk. hehe

My lecturer is Ms Kok from Sunway. You may attend her workshop. She covers majority of the syllabus during those period.

I heard Low Chin Ann is good too. Maybe you could ask your lecturer and discuss the problem.

Actually I do not have any confidence to pass the paper. I just wish to get 50 marks only.
