Hi,
I'm going to be taking the P1 and P2 papers this semester.. I've been following the ACCA lowyat thread and am interested in enrolling to Mr Phillip Woo's class in Taylors considering all the great comments on him.. However, I would like a reconfirmation that he is a great lecturer.. some commented he gives out scrappy notes.. and since I'm not even sure what is expected or needed in P1, I hope you would be able to advice me.. (Really need good advise since Taylor's fees is really high).. Ps: I read about Sheila John's too.. Would anyone know if she teaches elsewhere other than Elitejaya? Suggested lecturer's list for P1 (from a friend): Philip Woo Sheila John Marcus Ong.. Is Marcus Ong comparable with Philip Woo? This post has been edited by MichellePYP: Jan 4 2012, 09:01 PM |

QUOTE(usagi05 @ Jan 3 2012, 05:40 PM) u should go each respective colleges and ask bout it. sunway is closing application soon if u dun hurry, kdu is on 7th jan. others is around the corner too... u finished your degree or spm or cat? different range of fees according to your latest qualification. You must remember that Sunway College is Platinium Status . There are some lecturer as mentioned by some people about some above but these lecturers make students pass . There are a handful of sunway college students take classes at other colleges as well ( Here Sunway gets the name when they pass) LEMBU PUNYA SUSU SAPI PUNYA NAMA . But some lecturer mentioned above are outstanding . I must say it could be because of Ms Menon sunway can survive the P levels (sorry if i did not mention oithers altough) some destroy the name but students just feel that the facilities there are the best .Added on January 3, 2012, 5:48 pmany1 can comment whether sunway's lecturer good or not? here's the list: P1: Mr. Goh Hong Lim Ms. Kiran Seth P2. Chandrika Menon (I know she is famous) P3. Mr. Dinesh Ramadas (I want to know P3's the most) Ms. Wong Siew Choo P4/P5: Mr. Michael Ezhangoa P6: Ms. Kok Fong Hun Ms. Rozi Fazleen P7: Mr. Goh Hong Lim So these are yet to be verified whether sunway gets to maintain their good result because of their students attending their lecturers class or other lecturers class . I know my pals go to extra classes near by Sunway at KSA , KDU , Inti and Taylors. And they also say there are good too. You will not regret .(now you know why Taylors charge you high) But let me tell you something else P1 is a subject you can self read . Lecturers are just a guide . I guess anyone can deliver P1 well . But any way pls see the recommendations list in the 1st page of the thread .I'm going to be taking the P1 and P2 papers this semester.. Added on January 5, 2012, 12:07 am QUOTE(YH90 @ Jan 3 2012, 10:02 PM) Ms Kiran has just started teaching P1 not long ago IINM. I was not under her, but I heard alot of complaints about Kiran. thanks for the great info! Mr Goh is good, might be a little boring in his classes, but his notes are well prepared. Menon is the best for P2 I believe. Dinesh's class might be a little boring as well, but his notes are more than enough to pass the paper, just treat it like your bible. Ms Wong IMO has some attitude problems. I was not under her for P3, but for CAT T5. Her notes are mostly copy paste from many other publishers and most of the time you have to fill in the blanks for your notes. Mr. Micheal for me is a no-no. He reads out loud sentence by sentence in his notes, even the ones where we could have just read it at home (CG etc.). He crack jokes all the time, some are funny, some are quite lame. The problem is his jokes takes up around 30% of class duration. He does the Q&A way too fast, expecting us to keep up with him. In the end, I have no idea what I wrote as I have to just keep on writing down his answers and his handwriting is one of the worst I've seen. You should try out other tuition providers at KL. QUOTE(YH90 @ Jan 3 2012, 10:02 PM) You can only claim exemptions for F4 and F5? Or the earlier papers? Since you are a finance degree student, why not take up CFA or ICAEW CFq? Taking up ACCA with such little exemptions might not be worth it, especially when you will have around 3-4 years of experience, completing ACCA or not might not be so relevant to the employers anymore since your working experience might be more important for them. later take P2 with P7.
you should take P1 + P3 now. although there is only little relevance between 2 of them. P2 is totally irrelevant with P1 and P3 |

I would say who cares about combination this kind of thing?
if u noe well u will do well just take p1 and p2 together it will be okay moreover you're just enter into P level just take the easier one (p1) with p2 p3 need alot of critical thinking and writing skills which you should probably develop from P1 and P2 here's why: P1 syllabus half of them can be said just memorising and another half is understanding (starting from risk - ethics) P2 have 35% calculation and 65% writing P3 have at least 90% writing marks, if not near 100%, are you prepared to do this on ur 1st attempt on P papers? and I'm sure if u plan to take P5 next time, P3 will be best to take with P5 cause they are inter-related p/s: dun too obsessed with easier to pass if do this and that decision, you should go step by step resource (knowledge) based vs position (outsiders' evaluation based resource based is always better cause u depend on urself and no excuse to blame others if you followed their wrong advises on ur situation p2 + p3 might be just a value trap combination Added on January 5, 2012, 5:43 pmand 1 more thing, P1 will provide you the foundation u need on ethics or risks which will be asked in p2 p3 and subsequent papers if u missed P1, the marks will be gone or reduced greatly due to wrong concept This post has been edited by tzxsean: Jan 5 2012, 05:49 PM |
