Err, link/info please?

The A77 fully supports UHS-1 speed, which in return, offers roughly 50% faster speed compared to HD cards..

Difference can be felt when using the normal 30mb/s and 45mb/s or 90mb/s one.
*
Sorry, I was pulling stuff out of my ass. I meant to say only the NEX-5, since it does not support UHS-1.

seems like no one talking about SEL50mm f1.8 ,
and i just realised it has OSS, but with the price of usd300 quite a bit expensive sad.gif
*
It's a fantastic lens so far from previews. All the samples I've seen are great. Finally some fast, stabilized glass for NEX users.

I'm considering to get it, but most probably will not. I'm very happy with PDAF right now smile.gif

what is overlapping and 4 stops? Lol.. dont laff at me lah..

so should i get rid of 75-300? since EA1 doesnt even have AF..  sad.gif

EA2 support AF on 75-300? what is SSM? meaning good or not?

Added on November 18, 2011, 7:48 pm
You are right. No AF. Does EA2 support AF for SAL75-300?
*
Overlapping focal lengths = where the focal lengths of both lenses are the same (in this case, 75-200).

Exposure stops take a while to explain, and I'm afraid I'm not very good at it. Typically, F1.4 to F2 ~ 1 stop, F2 to F2.8 ~ 1 stop, 2.8 to 4 ~ 1 stop, and so on, for aperture. When I mean 4 stops, it means the lens can stabilize up till 4 stops. For example, if you shoot at 50mm focal length, you would need to shoot at 1/50 shutter speed or faster to get a non-blurry photo. With 4 stops of OS, you can theoretically shoot at 1/5 shutter speed and still get a sharp photo.

Best to search online on exposure terms. Lots of resources out there.

The EA2 will support the SAL75300 and AF. You will need to go to a shop with a demo unit of the EA2, and find out yourself if it is worth keeping.

EDIT:

For some reason I got confused, and thought you were referring to the SAL70300G, whereas you were actually talking about the SAL75300. Apologies. Man, I am so out of it today >.< Keep reading things wrongly. Sorry. In this case, you will get much better image quality with the SEL18200. Find a demo unit, bring a memory card, and feel it for yourself.

Yesterday had printed 259 pictures in 4R size, at 40 cents each. re-lived an old experience of slotting pictures into an album. The shop used Fuji paper, delivered within an hour and i'm satisfied with the results la. Different kind of satisfaction to see your own shots in print.

Slightly softer pics than what you can see on the screen but still acceptably sharp n no jaggies, no noise. gave them in roughly the resolutions of 1920x1280.  Wide angle shots will have white bars at the top and bottom. Well.. u can always write something there smile.gif

Nowdays at 40 cents, they will only provide the stack of photos, no more individual photo albums and they don't slot in the pics for you.

Anyway, just sharing another fun part of photo taking. hapi 2011.2011
*
I went out and got a CISS system for my desktop printer, along with about 600pcs of 4r photo paper. Quality is definitely not as good as the shops, but still decent. It's fun to have your pics printed out. I have it all pasted on a wall, though smile.gif

Is there anyway I can trigger external flash setup in my NEX3 ?
*
Only way to trigger external flashes is by optical slave. The problem is, the pre-flash on the camera flash. Most flashes cannot bypass the pre-flash and will trigger, causing wrong exposure. Some models of flashes in S2 mode can bypass the pre-flash: the YongNuo YN-460 is one of it.

ngcmn: The optical slave triggers do come in Sony's flash shoe but I don't know if there is one that is intelligent enough to skip the pre-flash.

This will work with NEX pre-flash:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-PROGRAMMABLE-R...=item5636f6d186

It has a learning mode to identify the pre-flash, and skip it.

For more details on this discussion, there's a long thread about it on DPreview:

Just to give you all with the LA-EA2 a heads up:

A user at DPReview has tested it with the Sigma OS lenses, and it works!

Here's a video of the OS lens in action:

I'll be picking up a 18-250 in the future smile.gif

guys i'm actually in a dilemma.. there are quite a number of NEX cameras..
what are the significant differences? any online sources/reviews i can read?

i don't want to see from sony website. i prefer actual user reviews.

thanks..
*
1) Are you new to interchangeable lens cameras?
2) Do you need to capture full HD video?
3) Do you want a very compact camera?
4) Are you intending to purchase more than one lens?
5) What do you intend to photograph most? Portraits, street, landscape, sports?

It'll be great if you can provide us with more of your background, so that we can give you a more accurate recommendation.

1. Yup
2. If given the opportunity, yes.
3. Doesn't really matter.. but compact body but dslr quality photo, yes.  nod.gif
4. Yes, it also depends on the purpose... But most probably, yeah,..
5. not really sports.. more to portraits, streets, and landscape..

I see the NEX series all have the same image sensors.. just some has lower megapixel.. not much difference?
but why the price differ so much?

thanks for your help.
*
Body wise you actually only have two choices: NEX-C3, or NEX-5N, with the 5N being the higher end one. Main differences are 1) Full HD video 2) Magnesium alloy body & Hand grip 3) Electronic ViewFinder compatibility.

The older versions of the NEX are the NEX-3 and NEX-5, which are no longer in production I believe. (citation needed). I will not talk about those here, as the C3 and 5N is a huge jump from those two, although most jargon will apply to the old models as well.

Since you're coming from the P&S camp, Point No.3 doesn't really matter for you, as I am sure you are used to using a LCD to frame your shots. The LA-EA2 enables compatibility with Sony Alpha A-Mount DSLR lenses, also a moot point. There are minor differences in the UI, but not too much to mention. So it just comes down to whether you want Full HD video, or the body shape, which will require demo unit testing.

Getting a comfortable body is a very important part to using a camera IMO. Some people like the flat, slightly longer feel of the C3, while some can't live without the hand-grip and magnesium body. Really, go to a Sony Style or Sony Centre and test out both bodies.

The differences between model / package types are the lenses, or "Kits", included in the package.
NEX-C3D / NEX-5ND : Comes with SEL16F28 and SEL1855 lenses
NEX-C3K / NEX-5NK : Comes with SEL1855 lens

The SEL16F28 is a wide-angle 16mm, panacake lens, while the SEL1855 is a multipurpose zoom lens, covering 18mm ~ 55mm. Both lenses have their own uses. If you want a smaller package, go for the SEL16F28. If you want more flexibility, SEL1855 then. But really, I recommended you to get the D package and grab both lenses.

In my opinion, the price difference of the C3 and 5N is small (300~350), and I can't seem to justify why anyone would get the C3 instead of the 5N. The 5N is just so much better.

I have not idea, might be they get the cheaper price for Nex5, worth to purchase for it with 1 year retail warranty? I just worry after 1 year

I am confusing which one should i go for? NEx 5 or Nex 5N, as for http://www.superbuy.my/shop/p-81309-sony-n...18-55-lens.aspx , they offering 1 year warranty by sony centre and with Nex 5N (18-55mm) for price RM 2199.

Btw, any1 can advise, any forum can teach me how to identify for the 14mm and 18-55mm lens? what is the main difference for that two lens?

Will it better if go for twice lens with Nex-5 for RM2090 with 1 year retail warranty instead of Nex 5N with 18-55mm for price RM 2199 which come under sony centre 1yr warranty? rclxub.gif
*
Retail warranty sounds suspiciously like AP unit... best that you clarify with them first. I'd rather get original Sony warranty... much safer if anything fails.

Identifying the SEL16 and SEL1855 is easy.. the SEL16 is a pancake lens, very thin and small, while the SEL1855 is a zoom lens about three times the length of the SEL16. Move back a page and you can see my explanation on the differences.

Hey shukrie,

That's a fantastic shot smile.gif The LA-EA2 costs RM1199 from Sony. I bought mine from Zaloon for only RM980. Of course, it was packaged together with the 5N body and DT35/1.8.

sorry but i don't fancy sooc photo,
if its all about presenting your photo sooc will not boast the value of it  smile.gif
*
I think it does not boast the value of the picture, but what it does boasts is the quality of the well-made SEL1855 kit lens, coupled with the in-camera lens corrections on the 5N. A lot of people getting the NEX are moving up from a P&S, and they are expecting good SOOC quality without fiddling with or are daunted by RAW file processing.

That's one way to look at it. Personally, I would think getting the body will extend the life of my camera a bit more.

Thanks axii, I still bit confusing on the effect in between SEL 16 and SEL1855, anyway, i might go for SEL1855 instead of can zoom shooting  biggrin.gif  As i found that http://www.superbuy.my/shop/p-81309-sony-n...18-55-lens.aspx selling SEL1855 with 1 year sony warranty at RM2199  rclxms.gif  save RM400 for 2nd battery  icon_rolleyes.gif

Added on November 30, 2011, 5:06 pmbtw, how to identify the camera is ori or AP?
*
I'll go into a bit more detail regarding the two lenses.

SEL16F28
-----------
-Wide Angle 16mm
-F2.8 Aperture (Better for Low Light)
-Small and Portable
-For shooting landscapes, architecture, groups of people
-For shooting in close and cramped places
-Able to use VCL-ECU1 Ultra Wide Angle Adapter (12mm)
-Able to use VCL-ECF1 Fish Eye Adapter (Fish Eye Effect)

SEL1855
----------
-18mm to 55mm Zoom Lens
-F3.5-F5.6 Aperture (F3.5 at 18mm, gradually increasing as you zoom out to F5.6 at 55mm)
-Larger, not pocketable
-Multipurpose use, from close-ups to wide angles to medium distance shots
-More distortions at Wide and Tele ends (most Zoom lens suffer from this)

On identifying Ori and AP, I suppose looking for the Sony Malaysia sticker and scratch label is enough? I'm not too sure on this, maybe other members can enlighten us on this.

I wouldn't buy a camera body or lens online. These kind of things need testing on the spot.

For those trying this:

You can actually make it easier if you have a tripod with a pan / tilt head.

1) Mount the camera backwards on the tripod.
2) Tilt the camera to the side.
3) Swing the whole setup upside down, legs pointing upwards, one hand gripping the end of the legs.
4) Other hand holding camera and shutter, swing from left to right.

This will ensure that your tangent line is exact, because the center of the curve is the end of the legs. Adjust length of legs for taste smile.gif

I'll buy if it is around 50 to 60% of the sel18200 retail price. In other words if it is priced around other current Tamron 18200 prices as per Shashinki, then i think it's worth it.

---------
That aside, tomorrow  to visit pudu plaza, see if i can find a YongNuo and test it out.
*
If 50~60%, I'll definitely snap one up as well. But I'll be realistically and think it will cost around 1.8~1.9k. List price is 69,800 YEN.

Regarding the Yong Nuos, here's a good read detailing situations where it will not trigger:

I tested the YN-560 in Pudu Plaza with NEX-5. It reliably fired every time we tested using S1 mode, 5 out of 5 times, fill flash settings. It doesn't fire using S2. However, we believe it kept firing on the preflash. The problem is the sync and timing which i believe requires much more time to fine tune and test. THey are selling another add on kit to actually sync the flash properly but no stock at that time la.

Found out also that YongNuo is cheap because it is a 1 piece construction meaning that if the bulb blows, there is no way to just disassemble the head and replace the bulb. It has to be sent back to China for warranty. Thus, I am now thinking about Nissin  hmm.gif , higher price but more peace of mind.
Pisen. I have used it for more than 5 months without any problems. The battery life is similar to Ori.
Here's my putrajaya shot.
*
No idea about the YN-560, but most of what I read on DPReview is about the YN-460 / 460II. Those using the YN-560 used it on top of an optical flash trigger (Sonia or Seagull SYK-5).
