this sony ah, they duno market their product wan.

who the hell want use telezoom on punny camera ?

who the hell want to spend ~3k on a lens for "casual camera" ?

Heck, if they make pancakes will boost their sales and popularity even more !

One reason I did not pickup Micro 4/3 because the crop factor. But hey they got few nice pancake too !

You think their pancakes are flawless...? They have heavy distortions which are heavily fixed via software in camera..

The results don't lie...if NEX is not popular...Sony would not have bothered to release a NEX 7...

And MANY have pre-ordered the NEX 7 without even looking at a proper preview....previous owners have also splashed cash on M mount lenses which are certainly not cheap... i can't understand your definition of a 'casual camera' though...so what makes a camera 'serious'...?

really feel like buying the new nex-5n,but this "clicking" noise issue seems like such a big deal since I am thinking of utilising it as a video camera as well. But still image picture quality seems excellent.

who the hell want use telezoom on punny camera ? you really dont know that 18200 sells like hot cakes in taiwan? my last trip to taiwan, i lost count of 18200 over 10 users

who the hell want to spend ~3k on a lens for "casual camera" ?  LEICA user spend even more... and they say m9 is casual camera...

Heck, if they make pancakes will boost their sales and popularity even more ! not really, olympus sold less pancake lens then total NEX sold itself. its not the lens size that matters to most people, its the quality the camera itself deliver. even maybe Alpha DSLR/T user jump to NEX system, because lossless of comparative quality... not because they have smaller lens.

One reason I did not pickup Micro 4/3 because the crop factor. But hey they got few nice pancake too !

Well they should have no qualms about making more pancakes now that there is in-camera lens correction.

show me some HEAVY distortion samples to me. I'm using my 16mm pretty satisfied.
at last way better than many of the uwa out there, better than my nikon 16-35D that i got before

my casual camera terms means its small and light,
dslr is not.
and dslr usually made for professional, because generally dslr lenses has a lot of choices to let them choose,
and pick up different perspective in terms of output.

The lens with heavy distortion that he mentioned is m4/3 pancake lens lol...not ur 16mm nex lens.

i dunno but i only know a lot of zoom lens choices for dslr...which i never bother to look at....
look at other systems like rangefinder, medium format and large format, there is no zoom lenses for them...literally no...
That's the difference between dslr and other cameras.

Dslr is more for people who need optical zoom and big guns.

i do hope sony release most of the "pro" lens,my dream lens in nex line up would be a 24-70 F2.8
why ppl nowadays has the impression mirrorless must be associate or can only sensibly be use with pancake lens, for me pancake lens is for girl, just my opinion,no offense though
but the good reception of the relatively large 24mm zeiss lens is indication that not everybody who elected to go mirrorless is pancake lens fans, there are ppl opting for quality, small dimension of pancake lens would be limiting factor of this.
in my opinion if you opt for pancake lens, you better off looking for m4/3 system, their sensor format is better suit to this kind of lens, where the larger sensor format of nex is better optimize for quality

What is the point of Sony making small cameras then? LOL...go get Sony DSLR if you want those pro big guns zoom zoom lenses doh.gif
Plus 24-70 focal length is optimized for Full frame not aps-c ...that would be the dumbest move to have such FL lens for SONY NEX doh.gif doh.gif

i plan buy Nex5n this week too, but click-click-click and overheating issue make me have to delay buying it. i think we all should not buy Nex-5N first, we see how Sony solve this issue first.

while waiting for new e-mount lenses, I have opt to get those legacy MF lenses, which is more affordable for quite good fast lenses.

Now already have the classic Schneider Krueznach 50mmF2.8. It's bit tough using MF in the beginning. But after a while it is ok with help of Peak Focusing and MF assist.

Here the test shot wide open at 2.8, low light no flash, toy effect.
