QUOTE(lordskarn @ Oct 4 2011, 11:55 AM) is it true n9 stock browser comes with no flash support? are they purposely crippling the device like apple does? Yes it's true but more for browser speed than to cripple the device. Anyway, Firefox for Meego will have flash support.

Apple are such control freaks. Wasn't it Apple who pioneered the micro-SIM to stop users changing operators? Other elements of control are:
Tied to itunes for file transfer Tied to itunes for apps No bluetooth file transfer Opaque directory structure No micro-SD card No user replaceable battery No flash No FM radio Use of torx screws
WP7 has also adopted many of Apple's control strategies to its detriment. Come to think of it, even N9 has many of the above.

QUOTE(Similan @ Oct 4 2011, 07:25 PM) Suggest all of you don't put any more hopes on this phone. save ur money especially now economy recession is coming. surely it will fail. the actual nokia phone to look fwd is searay. WP7 is a loser here. It has a teeny weeny market share and you can't even buy WP7 apps in bolehland.

iphone 4S is not much difference from iphone 4 except more powerful dual core processor, 1080p video, better camera and better voice recognition. Nothing innovative or cutting edge. This may be the beginning of the decline of iphone. Steve Jobs is gone and Apple's fortune goes down.

QUOTE(Similan @ Oct 5 2011, 09:58 AM) its farnee that new iphone release gets discussed in n9 and sgs2 discussion threads. so kiasu meh? can we consider n9 to be feature phone? Well, it's good to know what's going on around you as savvy consumers. Why do you call N9 a feature phone? It has an os and app market like other smartphones. Or are you worried about apps?

N9 is not for the ios, Android crowd, it is for those who dare to be different...and those who dare to take the risk with their hard earned money! Only for the brave....or the foolish?

Do you think N9 will become a collector's item? The first and last of its kind and produced in limited quantities only.
After looking at the N9 ovi store I must say it is very encouraging, not much of a risk at all where apps are concerned except for the absence of an ebook reader. There are some ebook readers in Maemo5, hopefully they get ported over.

QUOTE(rkg38 @ Oct 5 2011, 04:36 PM) i totally turn off all the 3G, data roaming n etc, only using WIFI.... Same with me, I don't have 3G subscription and don't intend to as I'm on wi-fi most of the time. When I need 3G for special occasion I purchase it from Digi prepaid at RM3 a day.

Can video call be made over wi-fi instead of 3G? I think iphone 4 can do this.

QUOTE(lordskarn @ Oct 5 2011, 08:28 PM) I'm not sure I'm following here.. are we saying N9 has no 3G Video Calls support at all, or no 3G Video Calls support without data plan, or what? If there's no 3G Video Call / MMS out of the box, I will probably cancel my intention to buy N9.. dont want to end up like N900 and rely on 3rd party software to do something any basic phone should be able to handle.. In fact I was willing to buy the phone on the spot as soon as it came out, but now I'm having doubts.. maybe I'll wait for a while for more user reviews to come out.. I need a full-featured phone that can handle everything on a day to day basis, and so far I'm hearing N9 doesnt support this doesnt support that doesnt have this doesnt have that.. not too encouraging! Then again, maybe I'll buy the phone on a whim just to piss Elop off and help the Meego team prove their point.. that Meego aint dead and is a viable platform.. We'll see on Friday when its officially available! Calm down. If there is a front camera it must be possible to make video calls. Otherwise what's the front camera for, right? But them again, N9 has FM radio and FM transmitter but no software to use them. So.... This post has been edited by KennyKB: Oct 5 2011, 08:37 PM

QUOTE(Upsilon @ Oct 6 2011, 05:50 PM) it's a nokia shop, and I can find them from the official Nokia website. Probably it is up to the dealer like other forumer said (regarding the free gift). Call Nokia Malaysia and ask them whether free BH505 is official Nokia policy. If they say yes, ask them what they can do about your dealer. If they say it's up to the dealer you're out of luck.

The N9 camera will not be able to compare with N8. Here's 2 comparison shots I found online. http://shootspeak.com/2011/10/06/2-camera-...n9-vs-nokia-n8/However this is low light condition. In good light the difference may not be so noticeable.
