There's also an AE version of the miniaturised MS called Silhouette F91, which has a similar setup but less sleek design.

To be fair, it's just a fancy concept for the designers to let their creativity go wild. The Zeta is supposed to have the movable armour as well yet it doesn't have many exposed parts.

When a single beam shot can destroy you, there's no point adding on armour which only reduces manoeuvrability.

Not adding more weight (as in space everything's weightless) yet the thrusters will need to move more mass though. Small and nimble is easier to move around rather than big bulky suits. See why mobile armours can't do 180 turns as quickly as a small MS could?

And the Delta Plus is also designed for Earth use, so weight now comes into play.

Phase Shift = anti beam weaponry. It was never shown to withstand solid weaponry that well, although the entire premise of seed and its technology is inconsistent one can still argue that it may offer some solid weaponry protection. Still dont understand how the hell strike could withstand a positron canon that is designed to destroy an entire ship. I blame that on Fukuda.

Regular armor = anti solid weaponry. No explanation needed, plenty of real life examples.
