need quick answer : best mech keyboard RM 300-400 is... ?
*
Leopold will be the best/highest quality you can get with that $$$.

My opinion:
Filco = Highest quality
Leopold = Best value for money

Why no gaming brands? You may ask
Gaming brands are often overpriced and cheapen version of actual mechanical keyboard brands.

Oh... me also think KBC good for their keycaps, using PBTs....
Squarebox, what other mech keyboards are by Costar (differentiated by their wire-type stabilizers on larger keys right?) other than the Filcos?
*
Using the wire-type stabilizer doesn't mean that it's made by Costar

Filco - Costar
DAS - Costar
Mionix - Costar
Thermaltake Meka G1 - Costar
WASDkeyboard - Costar

Razer - Unknown
Noppoo - Unknown

Inspired by O2Jam notes's color.
*
I believe you can order the few keys from WASD keyboard directly.

I found pics that show the blue backplate to be more of a powder/sky blue than the electric blue that the promotional picture is showing

EDIT: Ducky PBT keycaps for sale in SG for......SGD75  sweat.gif

That pic with the awesome face is taken by me and not a promotional picture.
Here's another one to show the actual color comparison.

The pics on Kbdmania are overposed and given a hazy filter/look.

QUOTE(kEazYc @ Sep 13 2011, 01:12 PM)
You're paying every single cents well worth for a mechanical keyboard, instead of the pricey "gaming" keyboard which uses membranes that's super super low cost, you pay RM300+ for the bling bling "gaming" keyboard, they earn like 90% profits from it.

While you pay RM300+ for a mechanical keyboard, they earn like 20-30% from it.

So you get the mathematics?

Well before you jump into conclusion that mechanical keyboard is overpriced, read first post before going deep into it.

And to reply to your "cheapest mech keyboard availability", look for Cyclone, he has Leopold which is one of the best quality available for mechanical keyboard, its around RM350-ish, or you may just check out his sales thread.

P/S: All the bolded words are the important words that you need to know when you're choosing a mechanical keyboard.
*
If you are comparing cost against retail, the figure are far more than you imagine...

Mechanical keyboard, they earn 50% or more.
Rubberdome keyboard, they earn up to 1000%. 900% probably goes to the CEO

Dont ask me how I know =X

Well those kind of stuff, don't really have to say out, as the chinese says "self know ok already"
*
Well, I tend to be the type of consumer that research and buy things that are actually worth their price.
For example, RM599 for a rubber dome G19 or RM259 for G510 are they really worth that much when a Microsoft X4 out performs them at RM150.

QUOTE(Sky.Live @ Sep 13 2011, 06:40 PM)
Well we cant push aside there's good quality membrane keyboard as well.. Although the trend now is the more bling, the keyboard can sell more. Even if the keyboard is so much more expensive
*
There's only one that is close to mechanical keyboard performance. It's the Microsoft X4.
Red backlight, 18-KRO over USB like the Leopold.

Cherry G80 are great for modding but sadly only G80-3494 has NKRO. Unless you are talking about the KBD/KBC version.

Corsair keyboard looks cool but...

But it leaves the switch totally exposed which is more prone to damage.
This may be a very common problem then...

More broken keyboards = more sales. Company is happy, users continue to be none the wiser.

Squarebox, what you mean it is more prone to damage? I thought like that is somehow easier to clean? I mean, there is no frames surrounding the key, which makes dusting off or some cyber clean cleaning would be most effective?  hmm.gif
*
Imagine if you place pressure on the corner a keys near the edge of the keyboard, chances of ppl breaking the stem will be easier compare to keyboard with a side wall.
It will definitely be easier to clean though.

Zibal 60 is definitely better because it's from Costar but with a custom PCB (to support backlighting which Costar OEM keyboard doesn't have).
It has 6KRO over USB and does not work with PS/2 adapters.
It has 2x USB2.0 ports which I love.

3 level of brightness (low, med, high)
2 type of lighting (WASD or all keys)
2x USB2.0 ports

Yes, it's ABS.
Only KBC makes PBT.

I don't understand why people keep saying PBT is better when ABS are used to make Lego.
Even my childhood Lego have no problems lasting so long.

Wasn't pointing out at you but rather the general public.
PBT have more slippery with a sandy feel. Some call it powdery feel.
