Oh... then the "shine" can be cleaned? Since it is like oily spots....  hmm.gif

It cant be cleaned. I was describing what the shiny spot look similar to.
Shiny keys are only natural as it's normal wear and tear due to usage.
Unless you are willing to invest in custom-made metal keycaps. Titanium spacebar starts from USD$100.

Yup. Titanium keys can also be found on Taobao.

What does linear switch means? Removable cable?

It seems Razer going to get all the switches. hmm.

Incoming more "blue vs brown" bombardments.  icon_idea.gif
*
Linear switches means the switch goes smoothly up and down without the feel of any bump.

Removable cable means the cable can be removed to prevent damage from transporting the keyboard or storing the keyboard. The cable is connected to the keyboard via mini-USB.

Your new toy... is it the Leopold Otaku?  hmm.gif
You mean your keyboard's keys are scratched by the ring keypuller or it is already damaged aesthetically when you open it out-of-the-box?  hmm.gif
*
That is Ducky 9008 white edition. Ducky is infamous for poor QC...
Here's the proper way to remove/change keycaps

Never use a ring puller such as this unless you plan to have scratches

I strongly recommend this type of pullers.

Oh... Actually i was also suspecting it to be a Ducky (it looks so similar to the Ducky Rabbit Edition that i saw some time ago, but with white engraved lettering), but since i saw the stabilizers (i think that is the same used by the Leopold that you reviewed not long ago), so i thought it to be a leo....  sweat.gif
So meaning Ducky and Leopold are using the "cherry stabilizers", the ones with proximity switches on the larger keys rather than the wire-type used by Filco? hmm.gif
Wo.... ring + wire!!!!
how you make that??? thumbup.gif
*
An easy way to spot the difference between a Leopold and Ducky is the LED keycaps. Leopold have none while the Ducky 9008 have 5-LED keycaps

Red switch version:

Cooler Master Quickfire gaming mechanical keyboar starting from SGD$105 to SGD$120(for Red switches) from here.
From review pictures from various chinese websites, it looks like it's OEM from Costar whio is the manufacturer of Filco. Quality is pretty much ensured.

Quick specs and information:
- 6-KRO via USB and Full-NKRO via PS/2
- Costar stabilizers
- Detachable USB cables
- Good cable-management inspired from Leopold
- Led keys inspired from Leopold

EDIT:
Personally, I'm not a fan of the fonts and over-branding. It's ugly as hell but hey, at least they cheap.

own some of CM's mouse, their rubber became sticky after a year's usage

*
There are no rubber coated keys for mechanical keyboards.
The only keys you should be worrying about is backlit mechanical keyboard keys as they use coated key which might end like this.

as according to the information provided at AG, they said these Quickfire keyboards are coated, leather? I assume it is rubber coat...
*
Translators are not perfect but I assume that "keyboard body with leather paint coating" = Satin painted finish on the casing. But I may be wrong...

Considering that the quickfire is most likely an OEM from Costar, they will mostly like have the same type of "coated" keycaps which Filco have.
If you have notice, Filco keycaps are said to be coated as well.

I believe it should cost about the same as the normal Filco, at most RM$50 more.
That's how the distributor in Singapore charge...

EDIT:
I dislike the multimedia keys because they replaced the LWIN which is important for productivity/normal use.

The LED keys is inspired from Leopold????? I thought that one is from Ducky??? I thought leopold dont have keycaps (NumLock, Capslock, ScrollLock) with a little clear parts???  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

The cable channel design is very similar to Leopold design. Other keyboards with cable channels look very different.

Leopold have a older model called FC200R which is a tenkeyless keyboard which have keycaps with little clear parts only for Caplocks and ScrollLock.

Oh.... i see i see....

So squarebox, other than the "Almighty Filco", the other competitive contender that you would recommend is the Leopold?

Was thinking of waiting for the Filco Ninja 104 keys with Cherry MX Blue US ANSI layout, but it was a tad expensive.......

Saw the Leopold FC500R sold by Cyclone and think the price would be decent for such a quality board (after read through your review  laugh.gif )
*
Personally, I'm picky about the type of stabilizer used for bigger keys.
Both stabilizer works well but they each have their pros and cons.

Filco - Costar stabilizer retains the feel of the switch but changing keycaps is more troublesome.
Leopold - Cherry stabilizer make changing keycaps a breeze but it makes the switch feel different.

Both are great keyboard regardless.
In Singapore, Filco and Leopold are the same price of SGD$179. Without a doubt, I would pick the Filco.
In Malaysia, Filco are RM4XX and Leopold are RM345. Leopold are definitely a great buy.

If money is not a problem, just go with the Filco.

how about the Ducky? However it once gave you bad experience on quality issue
you should had give them another chance too smile.gif
*
The problem is Ducky 9000 cost SGD$165 while Filco and Leopold cost SGD$179.
Why would anyone bother with Ducky when it's $14 away from the cream of the crop?

1. I dislike Cherry stabilizers.
2. People everywhere are facing problems with Ducky. Some of the problems : keycaps that shattered, keys failing, faulty pcb lines.

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
I will never be fooled twice by Ducky.

Unless Ducky is willing to send me one at least for review, my opinion will not change. They can even have the keyboard back once I reviewed it.

So far, i do own filco, ducky and one old IBM kb. i don't sense much different in stabilizers issue on spacebar or enter. erm, well this might be personal flavor?

There's no doubt overall quality is better for Filco over Ducky. But you can't make a statement that looks like only Ducky fails. I just google with some keywords "filco keyboard failed" and what? Tadaa~ there are cases too! smile.gif

You must be very unlucky for that Ducky unit. feel sorry for your case(s).  rclxub.gif But you're in Singapore, i cant do much help here.

anyhow, here is Malaysia, not Singapore... Local Filco selling not cheap here. but yes Leopold is cheaper which offered by Bro Cyclonechua (good job lads biggrin.gif)
*
Yes, Filco indeed do have some cases too but most are not due to QC.
The Filco failures are mostly due to user error(spillage) and recently "Ping of Death"

Note that Filco have been around of a long time and don't have as many failure as Ducky who is new.

I currently facing the squeezy sounds on my backspace key, but it doesn't matter much tho. :S
btw, mind to elaborate what's "ping of death" ?
*
It matter alot especially when you are paying so much for a keyboard.
Some grease should solve your squeaky sound.
user posted image

This is the "Ping of Death" which can happen to all mechanical keyboards. Some people hear it, most people don't.

I have a Filco that have a key that pings but I can only hear the pinging if I put my ear 5cm away and typing on it unnaturally.
There's a "War On Ping" or "Ping Of War" going on at geekhack.

As for the pinging, i heard it, but what matter is, does it has any downside?
*
It doesn't affect the functionality of the keyboard. It's just noiser than usual.

QUOTE(zandara @ Sep 2 2011, 05:55 PM)
Is this only happen to most of the blue switch? I had this problem too for my Noppoo Choc Blue switch.
There are quite a lot of keys with this sound LOL.
And my Filco backspace had the squeeky sound sometime.
Where do we apply the grease?
*
It happens to all switches and all brands.
The pinging is caused by the "resonance of the spring which is amplified by the metal plate" when the user releases the key.

QUOTE(Human10 @ Sep 2 2011, 06:33 PM)
Let me guess, the ''ping'' issue is the hearing of a ''springy'' noise when key is pressed?

The issue of inconsistent/faulty/springy switch is always there on many's Razer BWU.
*
Nope, it's the sound after the user releases the switch.
The pinging is caused by the "resonance of the spring which is amplified by the metal plate" when the user releases the key.

I haven't heard of any really problems with Razer Blackwidow Ultimate.
Maybe because they might be manufactured by Costar...

if Razer has given order to build the product at slightly off grid quality, it won't matter who the OEM maker is, even COSTAR made will break down fast also.

Proof? Sales from local disti said RBW is one of the frequent hospital visitor.

Since year 2006 the mass change of Razer, i will always cross my finger on any Razer products.
*
I'm just guessing...
When talking about failure rates, it's the percentage of RMA to sales.

Example:
If RBW sold 5,000 but only 5 RMA which makes the percentage 0.1%
If Ducky sold 500 but 5 RMA, the percentage would be 1%

Razer is infamous for breakdown but I still love my Deathadder and Coppperhead.

That reminds me, Noppoo also use Costar-styled stabilizer but aren't OEM from Costar.

Hey all,

Does anyone know where can I get those Cherry Doubleshots keycaps?
*
Ebay but you have to know which are double shot. Donor keyboards with double shots are not label with "double shot"
An easy way to recognize one is by the model number. G80-XXXX HXXXX. H means it's double shot

Donor keyboards comes in many forms and more often you have to buy 2 donor boards to make one set of Cherry double-shots.
