If your UHF antenna is still in good condition, then I don't see the need to buy a new antenna.

1) Do make sure your TV supports built-in DVB-T2 standard for digital TV.
If your TV doesn't support digital TV or only supports DVB-T standard, you got to buy a digital TV set-top-box which you can get one from MYTV, or buy to a brand new TV that supports DVB-T2.

2) Try power off your masthead amplifier (the white box, near your TV), and see if you can receive digital TV signals.

3) Do you have this thing in between the connection from TV to your rooftop antenna? If you don't have this, then just ignore.

Perak DTT (digital terrestrial television) frequency is either 666MHz or 698MHz. To make it faster, just perform manual scan on this frequency. Make sure the bandwidth is set as 8MHz.

May I know you stay at which part of Perak? Can your nearby neighbours able to get DTT signals? I just got the info that not entire Perak can get DTT reception (coverage may not be complete in entire Perak).

Okay. Once you receive your antenna and finish laying the cable, you do a manual search on 666MHz (Channel 45), and then monitor the signal strength reading while you align the antenna. Once you get signal, continue align until you get the highest Signal Strength % reading possible, then tighten the screws to complete the installation. Also, do make sure the "BER" reading is zero, and it is not fluctuating. You can check those signal parameters at "Diagnostics" menu on your MYTV box.

Based on this Apparatus Assignments list, looks like MCMC only allow MYTV Broadcasting to transmit in 2 mux now, rather than 3 mux during the initial testing period. Well, except TM KUALA ROMPIN_MUX C (Eastern region).

And, all digital TV towers are operated by TM? I thought RTM and Media Prima has their own transmitter towers, and fully owned by them? Also, it appears that MYTV themselves don't build new transmitters from the ground up nor own any digital TV towers, but instead they seems to "lease" from TM.

To be honest, the reason you felt exciting and happy as digital TV quality is so clear and look so real, is most likely because you never experience digital quality TV channel before. (Which explains why MYTV advertises their digital TV ads as "Macam betul-betul~")

For those who have subscribed to pay TV service like Astro since decades ago, or free satellite TV service from Astro called Njoi, many of us (including myself) already been enjoyed digital quality since then. Or, by watching online content, that is already in digital, and HD quality.
So honestly speaking, we (including myself) aren't surprised on MYTV's digital quality TV channels because we already seen how it looks like long ago.

One of the problem is, digital terrestrial TV technology already been existed many many years ago, but Malaysia implements this very late and lack of awareness on digital TV among the mass Malaysians, compared to some other developing countries like Singapore and Thailand. Which is why there are some Malaysians still did not get the chance to enjoy digital quality TV channel, as they thought that digital quality is still a premium, and analogue is "free".

No hard feelings, bro. This is just my personal opinion, and I have no intention to insult or teasing or whatsoever. Hope you don't misunderstand what I'm trying to say.
Anyway, it's good to hear that you enjoyed watching digital TV.

So is it like, last time some towers are not initially owned by TM, like some towers belongs to MYTV, RTM and Media Prima, but now all towers becomes owned by TM to operate DTT?

32 inch is too small to see a greater difference. Go for 42 inch and above, or 60 inch for 4K TV, if you have the budget la.

USB port is useless for now, and MYTV said it is "Reserved for future use". Some people use that port to charge their phones, although it wasn't meant for that purpose, since the USB port does output very low power, so the charging time to fully charge your phone may takes 4+ hours.

Based on your packaging box, it seems that your MYTV box can support 4K UHD and HEVC H.265 video codec. Lucky you, cuz not everyone gets a digital TV box from MYTV that supports 4K UHD video resolution.
Basically means, if MYTV transmits 4K UHD channel in the future, your digital TV box will be able to support and you can watch it on your 4K TV.

Nope. It seems that the problem comes from your side, not digital TV problem. Double check the F connector port of your cable connection between antenna to MYTV box is properly and correctly connected. Here's a reference:


If the cable has no issue, then try realign the antenna again.
You monitor the BER reading, make sure it's "0" (e.g. 0.000) and not showing any numbers and fluctuating.
I don't have MYTV box myself, but I used it before, and I can't exactly remember which menus to press. You try navigate and look for option like these "Settings>Installation>Diagnostics"

Oh, this antenna is Thailand brand one. I saw this before.
It appears that your antenna is pointing towards your rooftop. The long long part that points towards your rooftop, suppose to point towards a clear line-of-sight towards the nearest TV transmitter. Do relocate your antenna to the higher part of your rooftop, and make sure there's no obstruction along the way.

I didn't say it's not good... I'm just highlighting that this is Thailand brand only... Lol. Not made in Malaysia or China or whatsoever. This antenna model is pretty much readily available to purchase in Malaysia, particularly online, although it is from Thailand. Like if you want to buy new antenna for digital TV, usually those sellers and installers would recommend you this model. That's all.

If relocate the antenna is not possible, how about replace your antenna pole into longer pole, so that you can place your antenna higher than now? High until your antenna can get perfect or near clear line-of-sight view towards your TV transmitter, or nearby surroundings.

No need to wait till analogue can't watch only switch one. When you have digital, why still watch on analogue? (Unless you tell me you love watching the analogue static, to make it feel like you enjoy using old technology)

Very good. That proves that your 3C2V cable has either degraded or does not provide great cable performance until you need booster to make reception, or your antenna is no longer in good condition, compared to the new antenna and cable you have now.

Oh that's good to hear. When you do antenna alignment, do monitor your signal reading on your MYTV box, keep adjusting until you get highest % reading possible.

Last time when people align antenna for analogue TV, they will align while tell someone to watch the TV screen whether the reception is clear or not. Like, tell the other person watching the TV screen to "shout" to the person who align the antenna.
But that's not the case for digital TV. You have to monitor signal % readings while align, not by determine whether you can watch that digital TV channel or not.

546MHz: Malaysia - myFreeview Channels
554MHz: Singapore - Channel 8 and Vasantham

Cable not long enough? How to extend a RG6 cable to make it longer?
Of course, don't literally cut the cable, and then join 2 cables by making sure the copper core touches to each other and tape it. This is not electrical wiring yea. Doing this will loss a lot of signal (until very very low) and potentially might get short circuit.

Don't worry. Use this joiner, and you won't get signal loss.

Get another RG6 cable, connect F connector port, and use this joiner and connect it to each other. Once done, remember to tape the joiner with a black PVC electrical insulation tape as tight as possible to prevent rain water from getting in.
Since you are at least, able to receive intermittent digital TV signals, and the signal reading is very high when you can receive it, that's a good sign that digital TV coverage is available in your area. Perhaps, don't try relocate first, do try out some other alternative solutions first.

Not to say "cannot" la. Usual outdoor antenna are supposed to be pointing towards the direction of a nearby TV transmitter, and without obstruction whenever possible.
I know it may be not possible, but can you try to adjust your antenna point slightly upwards to the sky to see if signal improves. If it impoves, do take a photo and show us.

Ohhh, didn't notice the small "green box" on your antenna at first. My bad. Glad that you solve the issue. For me, that's probably because the signal is very strong in your area, so your antenna position may not necessary must be very direction-oriented. Not to say it will be definitely works like this, cuz it really depend on your location, like surrounding factors and geographical.

Btw why there's another antenna right next to your new antenna? Is it for your another room or something?

Well practically speaking, Gunung Ulu Kali is a one of the main transmitter and is located around 1 kilometre away from Genting Highlands.
It should able to cover very large areas till hundred of kilometres away due to high elevation.

I kinda expected that, since gov are being so quiet about ASO, until now. Yes, there is lots of dispute in internal, business stuff, that's why they're so quiet about it. Hope they'll really shut analogue TV signals off by mid 2019.

MYTV collaborates with TM, especially dealing with TV transmitters, and stuff.

But MYTV is still a private company.
