Where to check list of updated transmitter? I m staying in quite a new neighbour hood.
And if quite far from Singapore and still wish to get Singapore DTV signal, better get a good one?
*
The best is definitely get an outdoor antenna lo... You stay at which part of Johor?
If its not too far from Singapore (line-to-sight distance, and no high mountains blocking in between), indoor antenna may be sufficient.

MYTV need to apply to SKMM to decide the frequencies they are going to use. "Reasonable quality" set by MYTV (4Mbps VBR HD) is definitely not so reasonable.
I think that they will leave it as it is, by using 4 multiplexes,  with Channel U (SD) to be shut down in the future unless there are major changes/future developments on DTT, like 4K UHDTV. If you want reasonable quality (using MPEG4) then you can only place 2 channels max on a 16QAM multiplex. It is possible to carry 3 to 4 HD channels (using MPEG4, can carry even more on HEVC) on a 16QAM mux but the picture quality would be bad. It is unlikely for Mediacorp to switch to UHD soon.

When they originally do DTT allocation (Ch21-54/474-738MHz), the channels allocated for Singapore is Channel 27 to 38 (522-610MHz) While Malaysia and Indonesia gets 8 (5 after considering 700MHZ clearance) exclusive frequencies (which Malaysia gets odd numbers and Indonesia gets even numbers. and 6 shared frequencies (Ch21-26 /474-514MHz) Note that Singapore has more population than Southern Johor and Batam.

Woah... This MYTV set-top-box seems to support DVB-S2+T2, as well as 4K UHD and HEVC video codec.
I wonder, is this the free MYTV set-top-boxes being distributed to the eligible BSH (Bantuan Sara Hidup) participants, or the one that is purchased online such as on Shopee?

So....about that new MYTV decoder, what is the price? Is the decoder 'unlocked" as in I can scan for every DVB-S2 satellites or DVB-T2 channels or installing android apps?
Does the decoder has support for China AVS+ codec too?
brows.gif
*
AVS+, definitely no...
If you want satellite receiver that supports AVS+, then you can just get a China satellite receiver that supports AVS+...
Or look for the one that supports both H.264 and AVS+ over DVB-T2 and S2...

Could you explain further on how Malaysia and Indonesia will be sharing the frequency between 474-514MHz? if it's not by odd and even ordering, then how? Flexible use, or what? hmm.gif

Both different specs..
wifi, dvb-s2, 4k hevc..

The one I uploaded one, is distributed by MYTV for free, as it is for the BSH (formerly known as as BR1M). So, as you can see, the specs are very basic... Although CA smart card slot is available (Irdeto encryption), but it seems like useless la for now...

What indoor antenna is that?
Have you tried using outdoor antenna? If you're using outdoor antenna, make sure signal boosters are not used.

MYTV boxes no need to be activate or whatsoever. Just plug and play, perform Auto Scan and start watching. That's it.

Cannot use the indoor antenna..maybe broken already..

Find a new antenna..for the diy..can change to others thing..with same or equivalent price..

For indoor antenna, it is recommended to get an active antenna (requires external power like via USB or power outlet) instead of passive antenna (cheap ones and does not require external power source) as the signal reception would be better.

I agree with you that CJ Wow Shop should start broadcasting 2 channels on the second Mux and let one channel be in Chinese and the other in Malay. That should introduce quality programming with new and old Chinese/Korean/Japanese And English shows into NTV7 and 8TV.
*

The thing is, Media Prima aware that viewers don't depend on TV channels for primary source of entertainment anymore, let alone FTA TV channels.
They know that, viewers would rather watch it on Njoi or subscribe to Astro for better quality programmes. It is the reality, whether you like it or not.
What Media Prima do know, is for their branding and service to survive in the market. Even for NTV7, they rather broadcast CJ Wow Shop from 6AM to 5PM! That's 11 hours of non-stop shopping!
user posted image
Media Prima got to change their way of doing business and earn profits/revenue. They also know that no matter how best quality, variety, attractive programmes they air on their channels, the viewership won't be going anywhere because people nowadays don't even want to watch TV anymore. Do youngsters watch TV often nowadays, or the elderly people spend more time on TV? For most people nowadays, as long there is internet connection, I can watch whatever, whenever I want on my phone, tablet or computer, so why I need TV for entertainment? This is not just happening in Malaysia, but this trend is happening around the world, and you have to accept it no matter how much you hate this undeniable fact. For a FTA TV company, they really really depend on viewership ratings and to attract advertisers to pay them money. That's a source of income for them. If TV platform has low viewership, and if you are a client that want to reach your brand to the audience as big as you want, will you still choose to advertise on TV platform, or online platform like social media Facebook, YouTube cuz people nowadays spend more time on the platform nowadays compared to TV?

Meanwhile, they find that CJ Wow Shop is proven to be profiting them a lot since they firstly introduced, that's why they decided to sacrificed TV programmings into TV shopping. http://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/enou...v-home-shopping

If a FTA TV station that airs high quality programming (Chinese/Korean/Japanese And English shows), but has low viewership, what's the point? It's obviously money losing business. They rather replace their existing channels, into a home shopping channel for their company to continue survive. So, I can really say is, stop giving too much hope on Media Prima or any FTA TV stations to provide high quality programming as you want. If you want better TV programming without paying monthly subscription, consider Njoi, or wait for more digital TV channels to be launched on MYTV / myFreeview in the future. Or else, you can consume content online. This is the real world today.

Should be correct, just that "grey up" frequencies is reserved for future use in Singapore.

What you mean "future use in Singapore"? It is to clear for mobile services, isn't it? 700MHz 4G/5G...
Singapore plan to utilise that frequency for something else, other than for 4G/5G?

So it's Asiasat 9, 122E, kU band (diameter <0.66m). I should add one more LNB to my NJOI satellite dish.
*

You mean use your existing Njoi dish to receive both Njoi and MYTV?
Technically you can't.

Astro/Njoi is on Measat 3/3a/3b 91.5 °E, while myFreeview is on Asiasat 9 122 °E
One dish is West, another is East. You can't combine both into one cuz both are totally opposite direction.

You need separate dishes, for both Njoi/Astro and MYTV.

I think there would be at least 2-3, however based on SKMM information, transmitters located in Sabah and Sarawak only has one MUX listed.
*

Do you mean, if they want to install another MUX, they'll have to install another, big big "transponder" to the tower?
So it is hardware based, rather than just software, to transmit another new mux/frequency? hmm.gif

Yeah, you are right, both are quite different in directions, too bad. Any chance MYTV is broadcasted in C band?
*

It is on ABS 2 75 °E. MYTV uses C band as their satellite backhaul for their TV channels. It downlink from satellite to the main digital TV transmitters site's big satellite dish, so that viewers will be able to receive the channels via DTT platform. So you can say that, the myFreeview channels you're watching on DTT myFreeview now, is actually being "relayed" from satellite. MYTV have to use reliable satellite backhaul like C band instead of Ku band, as there's no rain fade problems.

Don't get excited yet. The satellite signal reception is very very weak till the point where the usual 6 feet dish won't be able to detect the channels. You need a satellite dish as big as 12 feet (3.65 metres) to receive it. MYTV tries to keep this info as confidential as possible, meaning they don't really want the public to know la.. And even if you have 12 feet dish and you can receive the signal, don't expect it will be free-to-air (FTA)...

This is what my reliable source tells me, but I can't 100% confirm it, but do tell me if you have more accurate info about it.

So how about the Asiasat 9 one? Well, MYTV just uplink the channels to Asiasat 9 satellite, and then downlink again to viewers who wish to receive MYTV channels via satellite (Ku band). The Ku band signal from Asiasat 9 is pretty strong to receive on a 65cm dish, but it is encrypted, so you need MYTV box to watch it.

This can't be done in Malaysia due to geographical location, especially in Peninsular Malaysia.
Receiving Measat 3/3a/3b satellite and Asiasat 9 satellite in Peninsular Malaysia are totally in opposite direction (West and East respectively) due to the satellite's orbital position.

The picture you attached, that can be done especially in Indonesia as it is very very close to the equator line. Sabah and Sarawak, hmm maybe can try.
