what is SDR?

Something that one can record SD content on other platform (STB/VCR/DVD etc.). I think.

What Digital TV stations can be received in Penang island?

SDR = Software Defined Radio.

It is a software based RADIO, and we can tune to ANY, yes ANY frequency within the hardware's limit.

Using certain software or tools,we can decode weather satelite data link, commercial aeroplane's ADS-B broadcast data which contains coordinates, speed, altitude, flight nubmer ...... we can hear ..... err cannot say here .... With correct setup, antenna, and location, SDR can be our BIG ears in sea of radio signal.

Yeah, if I am bored with DVB-T, I can use the dongle to do other thing.

Actually, TV3 VHF is not mono audio. At least in Klang Valley. My TV has been picking up NICAM stereo signal from TV3 VHF as of late. Also, They also launch NTV7 on VHF channel 7 - how they're allowed that is a mystery, it's right next to channel 8 used by TV2.

I recall one frequency on VHF has been allocated for DMB-T radio. Previously they have TV on DMB-T as well, but as of late they stopped transmitting TV channels on DMB-T. Have to take out my old Pontus and scan again. The Pontus calls the frequency range "Band III" - the old name for VHF.

Most likely nothing at the moment. I don't expect Thailand to be testing their DVB-T2 signal close to the border.

Singapore plan to finish all the digital signal on Dec 2015 .....after completed will stop provide A / signal ...

At JB area if dont have build in T2 tuner , much have the set top box ...mine TV only have DVT-T just can get 576i channel 8 from singapore , after the set top box , i able to get 1080i channel 8 ....

Afaik, not really. Media Prima afaik currently has no DVB-T signal. Last I checked 5 years ago TV3 was available on Media Prima's DMB-T signal. Yes, they're testing TV on DMB-T, a system different from RTM's DVB-T and the same system RTM is using for digital radio. But not sure if they're still transmitting, but even if it is, it's very low power and only in the Damansara Utama and Bandar Damansara area. Even Klang cannot receive.

Where did you buy the set box and how much? Is it DVB-T2?

I bough last 2 week , with installation rm250.

Checked the price is the most cheaper one in my area . Some installer wil charge almost
Rm500

Which antenna you using terestrial antenna or Tiny dvb-t2 antenna?
Althoug my place is muar so not sure to get a terestial antenna or tiny antenna.

just the normal antenna , the T2 set top box only help to receive the T2 signal .......I hear the guy say muar segamat can get it for HD singapore channel ...
