QUOTE(andrewL @ Jun 22 2011, 06:53 PM) Dear all, i'm very extremely interested in the galaxy S2. I tested the unit in the maxis launching event earlier today and it was slightly laggy and not at all fluid compared to an iphone 4 which has oni a single core processor. It's not the hardware. Even with gigabytes of ram or thousands gigahertz proc, android will always lag n will never be as smooth as iOS. That is the magic of apple. Right from the 1st gen iPhone, the web browser and overall system is smooth, even though hardware is not so advanced. Is SGS2 really not as smooth compared to the iphone? Or could the unit at the event be defected due to a little too overused for the day? Furthermore, by using less hardware resources, iPhone and iPad battery life is always much much better compared to android devices. What android wins is it's customize ability bcos of open source. It also has a large community of customized ROMs programmers. This is extremely sexy and appealing to geeks and nerds. Instead of juz being a communication device, the smartphone is treated as a device to get high benchmark scores, different themes, increase battery life by bits, etc. While other normal users are simply enjoying the simplicity, smoothness and beauty of iPhone. Not to mention it's huge library of quality apps that android nerds can only envy jealously. This is not meant to antagonize android fans but a statement of the plain truth. |

QUOTE(cjxs @ Jun 22 2011, 09:59 PM) Understand the coverage is important but below is my $$ analysis. very nice analysis there. hopefully it helps the guys who are still undecidedMaxis RM88-RM10 (rebate) + RM30 =RM108 x 24 = RM2,592 + RM799 (if u r lucky) =RM3,391 Got iDigi88 and sell off the fruit iDigi RM88 x 24 = RM2,112 + RM2,099 =RM4,211 Let re-calculate. iDigi offers 3g data so does Maxis (but digi unlimited)..... iDigi offers 450 min + 400 sms + 50 mms to Maxis none. Assume we make the same amount of call minutes, sms and mms on Maxis plan. Maxis RM88-RM10+RM81(450 min x RM0.18)+RM40(400smsxRM0.10)+RM12.5(50xRM0.25) - RM30(pay for call under maxis plan) = RM181.50 x 24 mth = RM4,356 + RM799 (or whatever promo price for 24 mth) = RM5,155 (call&sms&mms charges is within maxis network) or RM5,555 (promo price RM1,199) or RM5,755 (aftr promo price). Digi remained at RMRM4,211 for same amt of call+sms+mms. Bear in mind that Digi data is unlimited while maxis charges when over 3g. Even i purchase the phone at RM2,099, I might gt free gifts like sd card, car charger and bluetooth which worth couple of hundred RM at least. If we did not make any call, sms & mms under maxis plan then Maxis is cheaper. Maxis RM3,391 (phone RM799) vs IDigi RM4,211 ..........Digi more x by RM820 provided we don make extra call, sms, mms If under Maxis we made same amt of call, sms&mms as IDigi offers then Maxis RM5,155 (phone RM799) vs iDigi RM4,211..........Maxis more x by RM944 Maxis RM5,555 (phone RM1,199) vs iDigi RM4,211..........Maxis more x by RM1,344 Maxis RM5,755 (phone RM1,399) vs iDIgi RM4,211..........Maxis more x by RM1,544 Hope my analysis is accurate and useful for you guys that still undecided what to get. kudos bro! |
