Henderson first caught my attention when he came off the bench to play against us last 2 seasons. First impression was that his work rate and energy shows very encouraging sign especially we all know that one of the midfielder's trait shud be tracking back and helping out the team. I haven't watch him in the U21 but I do see him as a potentially good player, if not world class.
We did pay 16m for Glenny who isn't world class but good player. So why not for Henderson who has at least 10-13 years in front of him? |

QUOTE(farisq @ Jun 20 2011, 01:54 PM) I thought Glenno was already an England international when we signed him. Maybe that explained his ridiculous price. Being England international doesnt mean you are world class players. To me, Glenny is still an above average but not the best player out there. At times, I think Kelly is as good as he is, if not better. With time, Kelly will only get better and it's only a matter of time that Kelly outshines Johnson in RWB.I see Henderson more like Carrick when MU signed him. Although maybe the latter was a bit better in term of technical ability but I don't think they are really far off in term of talent. And Henderson has age on his side. As for Henderson, we are buying his potential. So, it's one with risk. But if we succeed, we can definitely sell him off for more in future, considering how expensive English players are nowadays. |

I was reading news that we stopped the bidding of Adam and instead focus on the korean playmaker in celtic. Dubbed the korean Steven Gerrard *wow*

QUOTE(bojek @ Jun 21 2011, 09:18 PM) suddenly I have lost hope in the team getting real talent. seems like at the end of the day we'll stuck with the likes of downing, dann, cahill etc. n not mata, sanchez, honda, hazard. damn it. if seriously cannot get the good one, i hope they promote wingers from the reserve like thomas ince, n Sterling, even pacheco. more game time for them wouldn't hurt right. Mind tell me what's wrong with players like Downing, Cahill and Dann? I actually see them as great addition to the squad. This post has been edited by solstice818: Jun 21 2011, 09:24 PM |

QUOTE(leaF @ Jun 22 2011, 11:03 AM) This guy can play on right wings as well, have a decent pace and comfortable with his right foot.I believe Carroll will be very happy if we sign this guy . Added on June 22, 2011, 1:14 pm QUOTE(Rotuham @ Jun 22 2011, 01:30 AM) http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news...ack-with-a-bang Believe in what? Believe in his words that he is extremely fit? Age catches up with everyone. He is getting more and more injury prone. That's what happen in the previous 3 seasons. From 05- 08, he used to be getting 50 odds game under his belt. 08/09 season and 09/10 season, he is only getting 40+ and we know that out of those 40+, some are actually coming off the bench and he had been in and out of the treatment room with torres so frequent that it affects the result of the team. We were called two-men team whenever we lose matches because he was dating nurses in treatment room. Last season, he only managed 24 games. As statistics show, he is getting lesser and lesser game.U heard it from me earlier, you didnt want to believe. Now hear it from the captain himself QUOTE(normeck @ Jun 22 2011, 08:57 AM) What word is there to eat?I would still sell him if someone comes up with 30m or so. QUOTE(weichieh007 @ Jun 22 2011, 02:25 PM) Sols, i didn't know that you have such different views of our captain from most Reds fans. Interesting.. Of course, we would look stupid to turn down a huge bid for our captain.. No player is bigger than the club.. Not that I dont appreciate what Gerrard did for the club. What i wanna emphasize on is that he is not irreplaceable. However, IMO, he may not be playing every match for us, he may not had a good 2010/11 (I blame the groin). But when he hit the right form, it's not his skills or killer passes that impresses, it's his determination and influence among his teammates. It's going to be difficult to find a better captain.. And his groin is feeling better than ever! QUOTE(kewellrulez @ Jun 22 2011, 02:34 PM) well said, stevie is great for his determination, hardwork and great will to move the team. another player is always dirk kuyt who works hard for team. to me, signing which player doesnt matter at all, what matters the most is the DETERMINATION to improve and WORKHARD for the team, of course having the heart to do so for the CLUB AND FANS. If you ask me, I would actually prefer Carra to be the captain any day. I have seen too many times that Gerrard just walked away when his teammates were involved with on pitch argument with official. Normally, it was Alonso or Carra that helped them out. It was until last season, after Kenny took over that Gerrard starting to protect his teammates. Seen that when he stood up and screw a Portuguese player crying for barbie doll when that Portuguese player tried to get Carra sent off. And it's not surprising he was trying to protect Carra because they came thru the rank together but will he do the same for others? That, I wonder.QUOTE(visionary1993 @ Jun 22 2011, 04:29 PM) I agree with Sols. Taking high wage, sitting in treatment room for long time certainly wont do us any good. Let's see what it takes this coming season. Will he be spending his time in treatment room or on the pitch?Gerrard has been out of form lately. Enough with that BS form is temporary class is yadayadayada. If a club offers the right amount, then its best we consider. QUOTE(Rotuham @ Jun 22 2011, 04:30 PM) Its a shame when evertonians can recognise what our own fans cant recognise No one is denying he is one of the best. I actually think that most of us see him as one of the best footballers around. All I m pointing out is that he is not irreplaceable and I questioned his role as a captain. QUOTE(Rotuham @ Jun 22 2011, 10:34 PM) I really dont know whats up with u sols No. As much as I like Torres, he isn't Mr Liverpool. Someone like Gerrard, Carra and maybe to certain extent Reina, yes, they can be called Mr Liverpool but not Torres. No doubt Torres is the best seller of jersey in the team but that alone cant make him the man of the team. Suarez sold much more kit than Gerrard is but does that make him Mr Liverpool? Obviously not. Gerrard is still the man.U dont mind selling gerrard but you are against maxi leaving It doesnt make sense to me and i am regretting come back here earlier than i am supposed to. To answer your question,YES.he was the heartthrob of millions around the world and his shirt sales contributed to our coffers. Of Maxi and Gerrard issue, I was actually stating that I would prefer them to stay but every player has a price. That includes Gerrard. I m not against Maxi leaving. I m just stating that it's hard to find a replacement of his quality willingly sit on the bench week in and week out. That was what I mentioned few pages back. |

I dont see why everyone is making a fuss out of it. It's all for the sake of discussion. It had been too quiet of lately. No news , no new signing.
QUOTE(Yuka Yuka @ Jun 22 2011, 11:20 PM) you guys need to slow down and read sols very first post on selling gerrard again. it was more towards a joke rather than a suggestion, and sols was saying if, IF somebody offered us another 50m for gerrard he would happily let him go. I thought no one noticed that. Thanks for clarifying. People do take things too seriously these days. all clear now? This post has been edited by solstice818: Jun 22 2011, 11:34 PM |

I din know a joke can turn out to be a heated discussion. To make things worse, I dont know that people take things so seriously.
Alright, my bad. Anyway, forget the Gerrard issue. Since u guys are not up for discussion, let's just focus on transfer rumours... Meireles is heading the exit. Newspaper today reported so! This post has been edited by solstice818: Jun 24 2011, 04:00 AM |

Juventus is really pissing me off.
First they wanted to buy Aqua then forcing us to drop the price. After the deadline, we agreed dropping the price, then they hired a new coach and decided against buying Aqua. Then now, they came in for Meireles and offer us Melo + cash. What do you think we are? Some mid table club accepting anyone into our squad? Stop throwing us ur reject player and if you want Meireles, pay the price the board ask for! Damn it! |

QUOTE(Sifha238 @ Jun 24 2011, 08:17 PM) It's not the issue, Man Utd manage to get A.Young (better than Downing if not twice as good) for 16 million but Downing valued 19 million ?? I'm not going to go about Carroll again, but Ashley might accept 25 million if negotiated better LOL. Mate, you have to look at the length of contract between Young and Downing. Young has 12 months left and Downing has 3 years. As for Carrol, the owner set up the margin that we must have a difference of 15m between Torres and Carrol. If Carrol cost us 50m, RA will have to pay us 65m for Torres. That's the plan of the owner as disclosed by Henry himself. |

QUOTE(SquaLL_JB @ Jun 26 2011, 10:19 AM) i can see with adam coming and aquilani also returning, we will have a packed midfield.. I think Shelvey will go on loan next season as it was reported that if we buy adam, we must include loaning Shelvey to them. So i guess, it's one in and one out. Either way, it's still too packed in the middle and I m preparing for the worst that Meireles gonna leave.1.gerrard 2.meireles 3.lucas 4.poulsen 5.henderson 6.adam 7.aquilani 8.spearing 9.shelvey Anyway, in King Kenny we trust! QUOTE(rhoyo @ Jun 26 2011, 11:31 AM) Mata was great. Watched the U21 Tournament. He scored two goals against Ukraine. Good movement. Would be nice to see him in red shirt next season. On another note, another player linked with us, Bojan Krkic also played in that match, coming off bench. Very good movement at the box as well. Almost assisted teammate with a goal within the first five minutes he entered the field with his crossing from the left. Would be good if we managed to sign them up.A bit surprising though that we din link with Javi martinez. Good player as well. When RB was around, we was touted to sign him. Now, not anymore. |

Good read on the prospect of Meireles leaving.
QUOTE For Liverpool fans it all seems painfully familiar. In 2008 the popular, likeable and classy Xabi Alonso was informed by manager Rafa Benitez that he was surplus to requirements. The Spanish manager made a not-very-secret bid to sign Gareth Barry as Alonso's replacement but the two clubs failed to agree a price for the England man. It was the footballing equivalent of wanting to trade in your Lexus for a Volvo. The seeds of Alonso's departure were sown that summer and the terrace-favourite left for Real Madrid the following year, hastening Liverpool's slide out of the top four. Meireles may not be in Alonso's league - but he's not far off. Liverpool fans have gone into this summer salivating at the prospect of new signings to excite, much like the acquisition of Luis Suarez did in January. But expecting the likes of Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson to take Liverpool to that 'next level' and help break the Premier League curse requires a leap of faith from supporters. QUOTE(uNeVErwaLkaloNe @ Jun 28 2011, 06:29 PM) This is the info I got from various news, there is some problem with Meireles contract extension. If it was true, then I would be very disappointed with the way Liverpool treat Meireles. Apparently, he took a pay cut to join us. His performance alone means that he deserved a new deal and an improved one. Anyway, the promised made was by previous board before arrival of FSG so cant really blame FSG for not fulfilling something they didnt promise, aye? |
