This does not make sense.  rclxub.gif

If like that Liv has nothing to gain, not saving wages by ship out player, nor get any transfer fee out of it.

If letting him go on free and the remaining contract tenure is void and save wages, then still make sense.

Exactly what I thought of. Might as well keep him in the squad as backup player. sad.gif

Why Liverpool's Decision to Part with Raul Meireles Looks Misguided

Raul Meireles's time at Liverpool may almost be up - and his sale would be one of the worst possible decisions Liverpool could make.

According to the People, the Portuguese midfielder is set to open talks with both Inter Milan and Juventus about a potential £12 million move to Serie A and cap off a truly bizarre 12 months.

Meireles only arrived at Anfield last summer but the talk of a swift departure is surely bad news for Liverpool's supporters, who voted him the Fans' Player of the Year last season.

That underlines what a crucial and influential role he had in Liverpool's midfield during a season badly affected by an under-performing and regularly injured Steven Gerrard.

There is little doubt that Meireles took a while to settle in the Premier League following his move from Porto but by the time Christmas came around he had grabbed the bull by the horns and had become a huge part of Liverpool's squad.

Roy Hodgson's departure and the arrival of Kenny Dalglish helped Meireles express himself even further and not a single Liverpool fan crammed into Anfield would have either foreseen or wanted his departure when the season came to an end.

However, Meireles appears to have become surplus to requirements due to Dalglish's fixation with bringing midfielders to Liverpool this summer.

Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam have both arrived already while Aston Villa's Stewart Downing looks set to be the next name on the incoming list as he prepares to hand in a transfer request.

Arsenal may try and scupper that deal but it appears unlikely and that will mean there is no room at the inn for Meireles.

On top of already having Gerrard, Jay Spearing and Lucas in his thoughts, Dalglish has to think of a way of accommodating his new men and that means Meireles is going to be the fall guy.

That is extremely harsh as he barely put a foot wrong once he had become used to the Premier League's pace and physicality and he must be scratching his head and wondering why he was adored by the fans but is now being ignored by Liverpool's management.

The fact that club such as Inter and Juventus are interested in him speaks volumes for his skills and potential.

Two of Europe's biggest clubs do not chase players unless they are of the highest calibre and there is no doubt that Meireles is in that category.

It just appears that nobody at Anfield has realised that yet.

Crazy goal from beckham. Wonder if any of our player can score something like this. I know it's bouncing off the ground but still, despite the bit of luck, it's quite some goal tongue.gif

Dont get what you said in the bolded part.

Anyway, wondering how are we going to play all midfielders next season.

From Adam, Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Aquilani, Meireles, Poulsen, Spearing, Jonjo.

then, we have Kuyt, Maxi....

Let's hope Gerrard and Kuyt is droppable next season. biggrin.gif

There's no way Adam gonna be better than Alonso. The way Alonso reading the game is already way better than Adam.Period.

Liverpool have today finalised a deal to sell Paul Konchesky to Leicester City.

The 30-year-old, who played 18 games for the Reds, will now join the Championship outfit for pre-season.

Ngog was lucky to score with that kind of ball control and first touch. In Epl, defender would have swept the ball away. Anyway, still a good way of building up his confidence.

As for Cole and Poulsen, good for them. Hopefully, there will be someone in for them soon. Adam rocks and Carrol should really reduce his big belly.
