Blood Red: David Ngog can leave Liverpool FC with his head held high

THE great Anfield fire sale looks set to happen this summer, with a number of squad players set to be offloaded.

David Ngog, it seems, is to be the first victim. The Frenchman has been allowed to speak with Sunderland, and should complete his move once he returns from holiday.

And whilst few Reds will be distraught at the young strikers exit, it is worth considering that Ngog performed an admirable role during what will be remembered as a largely turbulent era in Liverpoo'ls history.

His record of 19 goals in 94 games looks, ostensibly, decidedly modest. Yet it should be noted that of those 94 games, only 41 were starts.

Add to that the fact that, more often than not, his job was to step into the boots vacated by the often-fantastic but often-fragile Fernando Torres, and to lead the line alone, and his record is placed into far sharper perspective.

If Ngog leaves, and it appears that he will, he should be remembered for what he is. Not a flop, just a £1.5m striker who worked his socks off for Liverpool, and improved his value enough for the club to make a good profit on his sale.

Those idiots fans from our rivals who laughed at Suarez for not getting a medal when Ajax won the league

But the 24-year-old earned a championship medal having scored seven goals in his 13 appearances for the Dutch giants.

But he added: 'I did get a medal but I’d be the first person to say that the league title was down to the rest of the team and Frank de Boer, the manager.

Inter line up bid for Liverpool midfield ace

Inter Milan are considering a move for Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles, according to reports in Italy.

Inter president Massimo Moratti reckons the Portugal international would fit in well at the San Siro and is keen to press ahead with an enquiry.

The 28-year-old moved to Anfield from Porto in a £13m deal last summer and enjoyed a promising first season in the Premier League, scoring five goals in 33 appearances.

But Meireles will face fierce competition for places at Liverpool following the arrival of Jordan Henderson and the return to fitness of Steven Gerrard over the summer.

And, should Liverpool complete their rumoured move for Blackpool's Charlie Adam, there could be another central midfielder for Meireles to compete with.

He is under contract until 2014 but reports suggested a bid of around £14m might be enought to test Liverpool's resolve to hold on to him.

I dont mind we dont get PJ , the most expensive defender we have is Glen Johnson which I rate him in A.Cole , Maicon , D.Alves class.

About Giggs , it is better we dont comment before they start the "punch the DJ " story again.

Damn, dont you know punching the DJ for not playing your song(and him getting away must be money power) is freaking big offense compared to bedding your own sis in law?

yep. Gerrard best position i think just behind striker. Season we got number 2 behind Man Utd. after that we were call two-mens-team. Gerrard-Torres combo. But at the back supported by alonso and macherano.

Since we have so many midfielder now, we can let Gerrard playing behind Suarez and Caroll. But we have to sacrifice Lucas or Spearing in order to let our player play at right and left wing.
*
It doesnt mean we have to play wingers in every god damn game. Times like this , we can play diamond formation.

maybe something like this?

Reina

Kelly -- Carra -- Agger -- Johnson

--- Lucas ---

Meireles---Adam

----Gerrard----

Suarez----Carrol

Torres had talent but attitude was poor, kuyt has a fantastic attitude but limited on the talent front.

But i m not worried now.Suarez has both.I trust kenny like i have always said and i wont question the king.
*
Torres had a bad attitude? He was easily our best player on and off pitch. Just because he didnt handle his transfer well doesnt mean his attitude was worth a trash.

He always carry the team alone and the burden on him was so big that he always get targeted by defender and get bullied. He did a mistake by leaving when his team leave him most but let's not forget what he had contributed to the club. sad.gif

For Maxi's Haters, here's good news for you.

Maxi hints at Reds exit

Liverpool winger Maxi Rodriguez has revealed he would be open to a move back to Argentina with Newell's Old Boys.

The 30-year-old started his career at Newell's before leaving for Espanyol in 2002.

Maxi, who joined Liverpool in January 2010 from Atletico Madrid, claims he has held talks with Newell's president Guillermo Lorente about a possible return.

"When I left here, I knew I was coming back," Rodriguez told Argentinian newspaper La Capital.

"The president (William Lorenzo) called me and I said yes. Now it depends on the contract I have in Liverpool, maybe that can be loosened a little."

Maxi's future at Liverpool could be in doubt with Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish actively looking at bringing in the likes of Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing this summer.

Maxi is past his prime but he was a very good player and was awesome for Argentina. Looks like our 'love story' with Argentina may be coming to an end.

He was a good player to have on the bench (and of course he can sometimes delight us all with his hattricks!) but his contribution will probably be limited if we are to challenge for the PL next season.

Well, he may or may not leave. Nothing is confirmed yet.

First it was paletta leaving. Then Masch? Maxi now and Insua next. laugh.gif

QUOTE(leaF @ Jun 16 2011, 12:43 AM)
who you reckon will replace Maxi on bench if Maxi is going back to Argentina? How many wingers we have apart from Jovanovic and Joe Cole?Kuyt is not even a winger to start with.A world class player to play in starting 11 is easier to find than a good player that are willing to warm the bench and ready when we need them.Eg; Maxi and Soto. Not only as a role models to reserve teams but players like Maxi and Soto know what to do when we need a goal in last 20 or 10 minutes.Remember his flick pass for Torres to score a beauty?

I dont think Jovanovic and Joe Cole will be in LFC for next season and we only left 3 options to play in winger roles
-striker Dirk Kuyt(31 years old)
-Henderson(20 years old , new to the club)

-Raheem Sterling (promising star,17 years old)

We suffered of slow start at the beginning of new season , partly because the team is still blending. This is also the reason why we miss the league champion few seasons ago.
*
Let's not get the wrong idea. Kuyt and Henderson's primary position are not on the wings to begin with.Technically, we have zero wingers in our squad. laugh.gif Not counting those makeshift one and those heading the exit.

Why not?

Judging by the price of English players right now....

English player= 15m+ (based on any english player)
Captain of team= 10m (according to Blackpool)
Proven in league = 10m (as we can see in transfer of Torres, hiked up to 50m although previous season at 40m)
Proven partnership with Torres = 15m (Just figure it out of nowhere)

Give us 50m and off Gerrard goes. tongue.gif

With that kind of money, I can buy 2 Henderson and 2 Adam. tongue.gif

Then I get to play midfield like this

Adam-Adam-Henderson-Henderson

WIN WIN tongue.gif

Transfer Talk 16 June:

QUOTE

Liverpool leading the chase for £15m Real Madrid misfit Gago

Liverpool are favourites to land Fernando Gago after Jose Mourinho told the midfielder he is no longer needed at Real Madrid.

The Reds are looking to overhaul their midfield in order to make a challenge on the top four again next season, and have already signed  Jordan Henderson for £16million.

Argentina international Gago, 25, is rated at around £15m, but Liverpool are weighing up a bid of around £10m.

The defensive midfielder's agent, Marcelo Lombilla, is reported to have begun talks with Anfield director of football Damien Comolli over a move.

Lombilla said: 'Gago needs to play and Liverpool would be a perfect club for him, Fernando wants to get back on the pitch and return to the top level and at the moment that is not possible in Madrid.'

A source at Madrid told the Daily Star that Gago would leave the Spanish giants this summer and that the Reds were leading the chase for his signature, saying: 'Fernando knows that he has no future at the club.

'There has been interest in the past from some Italian clubs and Aston Villa, but Liverpool have shown the most interest.'

Man United to hijack Liverpool move for Blackpool Star

Sir Alex Ferguson is plotting to hijack Liverpools move for Charlie Adam with a sensational 12m bid.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is presently holding talks with the Blackpool midfielder, but will face another battle with the Seasiders over their valuation of the player.

The Scotland international has long been a target of the Anfield club, who had a 7m bid rejected in the January transfer window.

Now Manchester United boss Ferguson is set to go head-to-head with old rival Dalglish and join the race to land Adam, according to Starsport.

Adam scored against United at Old Trafford this season and impressed Ferguson with a string of stand-out displays for Ian Holloways relegated team.

But Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston will only let his prized-asset go for the right price.

Ferguson has already beaten Dalglish to the signing of Blackburns Phil Jones, and is now ready to offer Adam higher wages than Liverpool.

Ferguson had made Inter Milans Wesley Sneijder his No.1 target choice to replace the retired Paul Scholes and is keen on making the Holland midfielder his big-name summer signing.

But Chelsea can match Uniteds 30m bid and are also willing to meet Sneijders 200,000-a-week waged demands.

laugh.gif Let's get Harry Kewell back and see if Fergu wanna hijack the deal laugh.gif

U must be crazy or not a liverpool supporter!
Gerrard is the hearbeat and captain marvel of the team, selling him is like selling our soul! Although he's aged a bit now, he's still got the talent to give us another season or 2 of top notch service. Most importantly we need his determination, craft, heart and leadership as a beacon of light to serve as inspiration for the other liverpool players(since we have way too many foreigners in the team now). Gerrard bleeds the red of Liverpool through and through!

(Although many people prefers Carra , but I am scare our team will play hoofing the ball to the striker all the time)

*
Sad case that not much people get the dry side of humour these days. Anyway, I m joking about Gerrard and the 50m price tag. Who in a sound mind would put that amount of money to buy a 31 year old? However, I m serious about selling Gerrard if the right offer comes. Every player has a price, that includes Stevie G. biggrin.gif

3-5-2 formation nex season?

btw about the 3rd kit it's actually pretty nice, but if somebody could change the blue stripes to red it would be reallllllly awesome

I think we lack that kind of tough tackling ball-winning DM like Masch. We need this kind of player in our squad. Sadly, our best ball winning tackler, Lucas Leiva wasn't a good tackler to begin with. Much of the ball he won, he won it through interception. We need someone good in sliding tacles like Masch and Gago , although not as good tackler as Masch is, is still a good DM.

If only he has the heart to return to the team, I m sure he is going to be a good signing to us. Like a new signing. We need his creativity and passing. smile.gif

On another note, we are linked with Sao Paolo attacking midfielder called Lucas.

An 18 year old with 3 caps in the senior side of brazil. According to wiki,

QUOTE
Lucas is in the list of FIFA's players to watch in 2011.[1] A frequent member of Brazil's Under-20 international side, Lucas has been described as the next Kaká and has already attracted the interest of Liverpool FC who have first choice on signing him. In February 2011, Lucas was involved for Brazil in the Under-20 South American Championships where he scored a hat-trick in a 6-0 victory over Uruguay. Recently, Lucas was called for the Brazilian team, in two friendlies against Netherlands and Romania.

Source is not too reliable but then it sounds delicious if we do sign an 18 year old like this for the future. Already 3 caps to his name and it's Brazil we are talking about. Surely he has some talent there. biggrin.gif

Just want to add that 5.3 mil is a bargain considering the Asian market this guy will create for us. He's a fine player as well.. 25 goals in 91 games for Monaco.

Will he be Liverpool's first Asian signing?
*
Would prefer signing people like him actually. His team relegated. He has not much choice in terms of picking team. Meaning, we get better chance of signing him. Definitely helps us in Asia market and satisfying SC desire of us signing asian player.

And maybe he wont mind warming the bench sometimes like Park Ji Sung too.

Anyway, judging the news I m reading lately, I guess we will soon the most hatred club by other club supporters in Premier League by keep raiding their club for players.

Newcastle fans already annoyed with us signing Carrol. Now, we are linked with Jonas and Enrique again.

Sunderland fans already upset with us signing their brightest prospect in the name of Henderson.

Imagine if we snatch Dann/Cahill away.... Birmingham and Bolton gonna hate us like the rest do tongue.gif

The thing with Adam is that he can play on left flank and he is left footer? So, like henderson, both can play in central and on flanks.

I think we are not expecting to sign him anyway since there are rumours of him not passing medical lar, not agreeing to personal terms lar. Bla bla bla.

Even last month, he himself admitted he would open to a move to Premier League but that not necessarily mean it would be Liverpool FC. So, no biggie. No question on NUFC thread there happy over the signing but it seems like they are having a dig on us on every god damn thing. Another reason why I said other premier league club gonna hate us for raiding their clubs. Better win something with all these raiding or else we gonna be hated for no reasons!

Liverpool keen on South Korean stars

Liverpool are preparing a swoop for Celtic star Ki Sung-Yeung in the event of a deal for Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam falling through.

The Reds have attempted to finalise a deal for the Scotland international this week, but with the transfer making slow progress and Tottenham reportedly ready to renew their interest, Kenny Dalglish is preparing to turn his attentions to the 22-year-old South Korean.

Despite his age Sung-Yeung has already represented his country 38 times and is central to Celtic boss Neil Lennon's plans making 34 appearances for the club last season.

Liverpool are also monitoring the situation of Sung-Yeung's countryman Ji Dong-Won and his proposed transfer to Sunderland.

The 20-year-old is close to signing for Steve Bruce's side subject to a work permit being granted, but Liverpool may attempt to take advantage of this situation with the club interested in bringing him in as back-up for first choice pairing Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez.
