QUOTE(Aishinka @ Jul 9 2011, 06:48 PM) reversed my car into a hidden water pipe (hidden from the side mirror). scratched my rear bumper a bit. strange thing is after the knock then only came the BEEEEEEEEEEP sound from the reverse sensor. =.= The Reverse Sensors hv its own operating conditions eg object 2b detected must b at least of a certain width; it also needs "time" to detect & respond with its "beep". I'd banged in2 my still closed autogate w/o any beep fr the Reverse Sensor that was installed in my ole ride!! No warning beep at all!! ps. BLM/FL's RS's buzzer kinda "soft"...being behind carpet-like cover in rear of boot? Not easy 2hear esp with music playing... |

QUOTE(sam9557 @ Jul 9 2011, 08:22 PM) Hello Let's see wat this "latest" viscosity rec by Proton can accomplish... Just done 1st service at 1054km. I'm using Petronas Syntium 800 SAE 5W30 , can feel better acceleration. will upadate FC later. During running period just manage 30L/289km, 30L/260km daily city driving (wife + 4 kid/ 12~5years old). Hopefully not much undue wear & tear in long run... However, that only time will tell...BLM/FLs still too young to show any such effects since new rec only recently in 2011!! |

QUOTE(ericmaxman @ Jul 9 2011, 11:53 PM) Yup, but feel it's a compromise for a comfort ride. My previous 2 sets of Monroes were harder but better in absorbing all kinds of road conditions but cld feel the "thuds" of every bump! Very lasting tho! BTW Good Morning, Malaysia!! Looks & feels like a good day ahead!! :hyperz: |

Planning 2fit auto-brake lock soon c/w press-button switch to unlock. Nuisance atm 4other half to unlock fr passenger side. Previous ride had central locking feature allowing ctrl @ BOTH front doors!! A backward step in technology... Btw will fitting such auto-brake lock void warranty? Seems it's OEM P&P module. |

To those who hv yet 2discover the location of our BLM/FL's ECU module/unit, I'd juz found it! In 1 of my "Get 2kno yr car" poke-arnds!
Yup, 2clarify a previous doubt of whether it's by Continental or Siemens...it's a Continental!! And "Made In Msia" somemore!!! Wow! Location of unit in car? Yup, in the car cabin...juz @back of Centre Console! Or shld I say @its FRONT end! Look towards the empty space in front of the centre console fr base @driver's door side. See a rect flat metal box? That's it!! |

QUOTE(xshiro @ Jul 12 2011, 09:19 AM) ok, added you and zeone to the list. sorry i might have missed your pm or post. Ok...tks a meg, bro! Added on July 12, 2011, 9:24 am yes, its continental but its same ecu, same programming (i think so), because continental bought siemens vdo last time.. some of the first blm might use the ecu with siemens label Re ECU maker, tks 4clarification (again? Was it yu that time2? Haha! I did try 2find Model # on its label but kinda need 2b a contortionist 2do dat... Added on July 12, 2011, 12:03 pm@vostro : Most SCs use 10W40 Semi Syn oil. If yr area SC allows it, then yu can select/bring yr own choice of oil. However, do ensure it's Proton Approved ones or else yr warranty may b void! QUOTE(LizStephenie @ Jul 12 2011, 02:03 PM) Do allow me to explain why that question of yrs invokes a certain feeling in car forums...It's simply becoz such info is provided for in EVERY Car Owner's User Manual supplied on delivery of the vehicle!!! Very Basic knowledge...for EVERY New car owner. Frankly, anything outside of the recommendations & info provided for in the User Manual is @the User's discretion, decision AND RESPONSIBILITY!! Sincerely hope yu can understand... Pls do spend enuf time to read thru every page of yr User's Manual. TQ. Added on July 12, 2011, 2:31 pmps. Many forummers wld juz simply IGNORE such kind of questions; like they were NVR asked! BUT here yu did get a few responses! Not bad, rite? This post has been edited by zeone: Jul 12 2011, 02:31 PM |

QUOTE(LizStephenie @ Jul 12 2011, 02:35 PM) thanks for the clarification... Hi! Feel yu've misunderstood good intentions 2b hurting...very short answers usually cause that...FYI, i've been driving my car for about 2-years already (55,000km)... never bother to see wat type of oil being used... jz take it to SC every 5k to service... stumble upon this thread not long ago and was surprised that my FC was always this terrible... so i figured, wouldnt hurt to ask a question right? but i've been proven wrong. it can hurt for ppl to actually answer the question instead of replying "read the manual, do you know how to read a manual, etc" if everything can be understand from the manual and anything outside of the recommendations & info provided for in the User Manual is @the User's discretion, decision AND RESPONSIBILITY!!, what is the point of having this forum? peace... An analogy: There are 2 kinds of Docs. One tells a terminal Big C patient that he has only so many mths to live and he can only provide palliative care. The other Doc says he can help by doing this & that procedure. The patient puts all trust in Doc #2. Undergoes all the suffering associated with the treatments, spends alot of $$$ AND still DIES AS FIRST DIAGNOSED BY DOC #1!!! So which kind of advice wld yu prefer? Yr choice... As in ALL decisions, Risks & Responsibilities are YOURS! ps. As 4FC improvements, pls dun believe all yu hear or read...allow common sense & natural instincts to prevail, ok? Hope above managed to remove yr "hurt" a little... |

@ericmaxman : Quote..."it is the same case as people who has new gadget but don't know a shit about it,.... applying the same theory, it is advisable to read up on the owner's manual"
Yup, true...true... That's wat I always tell my frens. Their response? "Wah! So much to read ah! Ask yu easier la..." Haha! That's the Truth! |

QUOTE(azam_halim @ Jul 12 2011, 04:51 PM) my insurance + road tax is expiring..last time i renew through phone for etiqa takaful..i am planning to renew online via motortakaful.com. my saga is 2009 model. after keying in the info, the valuation come out saying that the range of permitted sum insurred is between 28k to 34k, and it proposed to take 31k..my question is how much actually you guys insured your saga? the lowest market value? highest market value? or in the middle? if i insured for 28k, i will have to pay 590+ (after -30% ncd + 10% motortakaful discount). if insured 31k, have to pay 640+, if insured max 34k, have to pay almost 700. what do you guys think? First find out wat is the "market value" of yr vehicle. - saga 1.3a silver WSY Normal advice is NOT to OVERinsure yr vehicle cos in claims the "market value" is the main reference. How much below that "market value" rests upon yr budget...and yr probability of claim?? Dun go too low tho or yu might hv to make up for the amount NOT covered! |

QUOTE(xshiro @ Jul 12 2011, 04:54 PM) Re above, BELIEVE... As is...Chk-ing back some pages, Proton, in pre-2011 Manuals, rec 20W50 BUT acc2 pics posted later of amendments in 2011 Manuals, it shld now be 10W30. Most Proton SCs use 10W40. Finally the choice & decision rest upon Owner/User's shoulders... |

Juz to share...what I've discovered in another of my "Know Your BLM/FL Better" Adventures....
For those whose BLM/FL hv the "Immobilizer Chip" in their car keys but hv no idea what the chip looks like inside their keys...Here is a Close-Up pic of the inside of my FL key : Note : 1. The "Immobilizer Chip" is the kinda pentagonal(?) black thing(?) which I've labelled as "I" in the right half (top right) of the opened-up key. 2. The Alarm Unit is in the left half in the pic. There are 2 batteries used...CR 2016...one on top of the other. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « No more a mystery...when one knows, right?
