The full synth i confirm you saw at Tesco @ RM148 is correct as it is on promotion now
*
Yup, and it's API SM. May get 1 bottle 4future 10k Km service. wink.gif

@rajivshm : My FL has stock exhaust. Tailpipe is straight but comes with sp tail end.

My FC now avg 11.5Km/L...mixed driving. Feel ok la. My ole 1.5L ride gave me LESS & on RON 97, too!!

@torresism & @MR_alien : For major xpensive parts replacements, feel safer to hv them done @Proton SCs cos such carry some period (mayb 3/6 mths?) warranty! Do outside wkshops hv such warranty?

like timing belt kit...not sure SC carry any warranty
but if u bought outside....bosch or gates brand...it carries 1 year warranty and it guarantees 100000KM
*
Fr wat I kno, Proton do hv warranties for parts replaced by them.
However, if like wat yu say, then changing Timing Belt outside=much BETTER!! 100k Km warranty is very good indeed! rclxms.gif thumbup.gif

@ericmaxman : Yup, driver's wt definitely factor coz part of load moved by engine!
For better FC, all unnecessary stuff shld be removed. Any additions, mods that hv weight eg heavier rims/tyres, wld add to burden/load on engine & therefore increases FC! wink.gif

Frankly, there's NO need for any confusion here re SAE grade of engine oil to be used for ANY car... wink.gif

Juz need to read that part of your Owner's Manual for the info.

Normally a no. of SAE grades (Multigrade) will be recommended, according to the ambient temperature of the country. The decision as to which one to use is YOURS!!

What is being stated most of the time is what the Proton SCs are using...and MOST ppl are assuming that is the "Official" oil recommended by Proton. rolleyes.gif

BUT is it really? icon_idea.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Most steering covers (w/o airbags) are attached by screws fr its underside. If no screws, then probably juz clipped on?

not just 1.6FL,my 1.3FL on the manual they recommend SAE10W-30 or equivalent "service sl" or higher
*
Dunno if Manuals are same but in copy given 2me for my FL (2011), in English on Pg 105, it shows in graphic form :

-10 -> 50+ dec C : 20W40 or 20W50
-15 -> 50+ deg C : 15W40 or 15W50
-25 -> 50+ deg C : 10W40 or 10W50

-25 -> 40 deg C : 10W30

Then in text, it states :
"2. Use engine oil conforming to the following API classification: SAE20W-50 or equivalent API "For services SJ" or higher.

Note: Using engine oil with a lower API classification will void the warranty."

Now what do yu think all that meant? whistling.gif:

Added on July 2, 2011, 4:03 pmps. Manual is printed on OCT 2010 (Stated on Back Cover).

Hi sam9557!
Feel I stand corrected...TQ 4latest update! notworthy.gif

In this aspect, feel Proton shld send such info to existing owners or at least via email/other means w/o incurring undue expenses eg thru their SCs! rolleyes.gif

Now which SAE viscosity shld we use?

Earlier info (Oct 2010) advises 20W50 in text; now (2011...no mth?) says 10W30 but SCs using 10W40...

If we look at all the recommendations, all those grades can be used AS LONG AS THE API RATING IS HIGHER THAN SL... Agreed? rclxms.gif thumbup.gif

IMHO, it now boils down to OUR choice & decision ie if SCs allow us to make that decision... wink.gif
