Alex sold me his only unit he got from HK. Takes 240V and comes in two charger, the one for Wii U and the other for GamePad. Maybe you can ask him to bring in another one?

Too tired to read. If how I skimmed through string's argument was right, instead of giving him free WiiU give me free WiiU. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Dec 23 2012, 12:53 PM)
Explain to me how a local warranty works, in case of Nintendo devices. Have anyone dealt with warranty cases from MaxSoft/MMSoft/EverythingthatisSoft and got away with a satisfactory experience?

The Xbox case is because Gamer's Hideout has good rapport with Microsoft Singapore and they travel monthly to Singapore to get stock. Hence why they can do RMA exchange and repairs with that return trips to Singapore. What about Nintendo side? Anybody?

Reason why I mention warranty within the Nintendo circle is an illusion and hilarious is because I have yet to see or hear a good case of RMA returns and repairs from whoever the entity that represent Nintendo in Malaysia. In the end, like during the Wii days, even with machines purchased with local warranty, I see lots of the owners turn to shops that do repairs by themselves, that are not affiliated with Nintendo whatsoever. Shops that does modchip installations, that does modifications to play pirated discs. Don't be fooled, these shops have the expertise and know-how to even fix bricked consoles by themselves. I know, because I used to hang out at these stores and see these things happen infront of my eyes.

When I ask why these Wii owners turn to these shops for repairs and troubleshooting instead of Nintendo themselves for repairs and RMA, they dont know who covers that for Malaysia, the shop in which they purchased their Wii from points them to do their RMA process themselves, or the shops accepts the consoles for RMA but does not promise when and if the RMA will be completed and if it is free because the repairs are not done in Malaysia. So, that is definition of "local warranty" when buying Nintendo product in Malaysia.

With that in mind, you still want local warranty? If "local warranty" here means, one-to-one exchange, or a known dedicated Malaysian service centre, sign me up. Your Microsoft XB360 case was unique because Gamer's Hideout has a foothold with Microsoft Singapore when doing RMA returns and repairs. A lot of XB360 owners, after knowing the procedures necessary for RMA for their Xbox, turn to these third party repair shops instead because of the long turn-around time. There are some cases where RMA repairs do get fixed for XB360 sent back to Microsoft , and their numbers are improving, but the fact to take here is, there are no physical presence of Microsoft in terms of Xbox division, here in Malaysia. Hell, Xbox 360 isn't even launched officially in Malaysia! Your Xbox 360 warranty is based on Singaporean warranty, for God's sake!

Now tell me, Nintendo's case. Is the warranty support the same as the XB360 case or otherwise?

It's not about me laughing at folks who waited for local warranty Wii U, it's about me laughing at the state of THAT local warranty when it comes to RMA returns and repairs should anything bad happens. Coz if the due process and procedures that entails for your supposed "local warranty" is the same as how the XB360 is dealt with, that is not "local warranty" at all. That is "warranty to a country close enough to our country that the shop you buy from can process with the repairs on your behalf and hope it gets accepted for repairs and returned to you without incuring much charges".

Capische?
