Yea, the extra protusion means that there's no need to tilt your laptop up anymore when you're on battery...
As for cooling, you'd probably need a cooler pad when you're running intensive stuffs anyway, in which you'd probably be connecting the A/C (and the battery removed), so its still better to use a cooler  laugh.gif

aiyak... like this mah very trouble-some to switch between 9cell batt and cooling pad? shakehead.gif

btw, is it a standard pratice to remove the 9cell batt when connected to A/C?

Some laptop has the function to switch off Battery Charging with just the press of 1 icon. If not better remove the battery when it's charged around 70% full.

Haha, most users don't bring along their cooler pads one what laugh.gif
And so far most of the mobile hotspots I've been to have air-con, hence eliminating the need of a cooler nod.gif

Its good to remove the battery as heat from the laptop will kill it

Practise bringing coolers out? Or practise removing batteries when on A/C? laugh.gif
My old Toshiba Satellite M100's battery only lasted for 30 minutes after 2 years because I din't know it must be removed, especially during gaming sad.gif
Learnt my lesson already haha, but then the battery in my M14x is integrated one laugh.gif

Ya, that's the point hehe, even I don't bring my CM U2 out, I just bring a file so that I could tilt the back portion of the laptop up for better ventilation, that's all laugh.gif

In summary:
- The battery will wear faster if you expose it to high temps (according to the chart: constant exposure to a temperature of 60C (at 100% battery) will degrade the battery down to 0 in 1 year time)

- The battery will wear faster if you leave it at 100% charge
