Nice tank with nice soil brows.gif in fact the tank looks simple and nice with marimos only, maybe get some shrimp will look cool too brows.gif

QUOTE(buhsanz @ Dec 23 2011, 12:22 AM)
i think the water condition is ok...i use RO water, cuz if i use pipe water, bubble is formed on the aquarium surface. the aquarium size can fill up until 6.4litre..but i only use about 4litre...the average temperature is about 28-30C..i use JEBO 501 mini filer..
the marimo still in round shape...but the line of pacman getting bigger in the middle of marimo..
*
Try to change other water rather than RO water because RO water is too pure for marimo as it do not contain any minerals that needed by the marimos

other than that, all is fine

that's why wanted to know the CO2 matter, may need to separate them out if gets really bad sad.gif

If you already read through this thread, you actually found that we discussed the crayfish (lobster) with marimo issue, you need to feed the crayfish more rapid or else your marimo will become its burger biggrin.gif

alamak didn't read that part lor, so long ah the thread hehe
anyway thx for the info
im imagining now that the crayfish run amok at the marimo tearing them bit by bit cos of not getting fed properly

btw, how do you differentiate a genuine marimo from an imitation? I read somewhere that some seller rolled up into round figures in a polysterin and sell them as normal marimo

any tips & info to beware of this?

thx

my marimos are getting boring, can i put some ocean monkeys to join in? i think ocean monkey will not eat them guaa. my 2nd worry is the monkey's water solution may harm te marimo or not
*
Not recommend due to sea-monkey live in salt water only

QUOTE(ljlim5081 @ Jan 6 2012, 12:35 PM)
just wonder what is "ocean monkeys"/"sea monkeys" ? does it refer to "丰年虾" ?
tks.
*
Yupe, sea-monkey = 丰年虾 or 丰年虫, those people use to feed fry one, some genetically modified sea-monkey is treated as pet bu with very short life-span

add me to the list! juz bought 2 nano marimo at ikano power center! btw... i think i saw tiny white worm near the marimo... is it normal.... :S thanks!
*
Nope, that is not normal, you should filter it as it will harm ur marimo, the white worm is those almost like hair thickness type rite and their movements are fast n will actually dig into ur marimo and destroy it. Should double check next time if you purchase.

The best way if you wish to put marimo with crayfish, put some ghost shrimp, the crayfish will box the shrimp instead of marimo brows.gif

Glad that you received them in short period smile.gif No worries with the sand, it was actually a part of sands and stone from my tank, my tank full of them so that the marimos have sufficient nutrition all the while, no worries, just wash them in water, squeeze them several time and roll them on your hand, you will notice the sand will drop off biggrin.gif Nice tank! many guppies brows.gif

Hello everyone, I've tried searching but to no avail did I find an answer. I am currently trying to prepare an aquarium for my guppies which are living in an aquarium filled with moss and its pretty dark I barely see them.

I already prepared a second aquarium with the filter, water placed, simple decorations + a marimo. I am thinking that a UV light may replace the use of anti-chlorine for my guppies but afraid that the light may affect my marimo.

My question here is (1) will the UV light affect my marimo and (2) will it prevent the use of anti-chlorine?

I have yet to purchase the UV light, and I saw that the power is 9 watt at the fish shop. Kindly advice please!
*
Haha, as replied in your PM smile.gif

No experiences on african cichlids, therefore I am not sure about that

after i took one of them and start rolling them on my hand, put it back into water and it stopped floating.why is tht so  rclxub.gif

Hey bro, no worries, floating or sinking depends on the marimos condition, first post FAQ do mentioned about that smile.gif Do have a read on there, and do let me know if you still have any doubt smile.gif

QUOTE(chanyyee @ Feb 26 2012, 03:55 PM)
Hi everyone!

Has anyone had any success in treating marimos with brown spots? Do they lose the brown and grow back to green? My healthy green ones recently had brownish spots, and I've read about putting salt and doing fridge spa.. but I need to hear stories of successful treatment for comfort. sad.gif
*
Yes, here are some example and another example

QUOTE(Nekochan @ Feb 27 2012, 09:56 AM)
I heard they say all fake marimo floats...

and is it ok to put marimo in the refrigerator.
*
This is a wrong statement, fake marimos not necessary to be float smile.gif can be sink as well, it happen that there is a fake marimo made up from a drain moss and roll in round form. This type of marimo will sink all the time and one thing very easy to differentiate with the genuine marimo is that, their growth rate superb fast (u can see significant grow in a week)

QUOTE(cute_miao @ Feb 27 2012, 01:23 PM)
hi there,

i also noticed that my marimo in my tank become brown. I wonder is it bcz of the T-5 Lights.

please advise..
*
Hey bro, how are you? long time no c u here ler, btw ur T5 is UV one or not? that is the possibility for UV T5 causing the brownish issue.

QUOTE(z8net @ Feb 29 2012, 08:53 AM)
be extra carefull when keeping marimo in planted tank especially if u use liquid additive to the tank such as flourish excel cos they might be harmful for algae and moss... dont forget marimo is also a moss...
*
Yes, correct bro, this one most of the mistake where user put the treatment liquid that reduce the algae problem in the tank, but they forgot actually marimo is type of algae biggrin.gif
