Hi, I'm new here and is taking care of marimo for about a week now.

I just found out that 3 of my marimo has a big hole to the middle. I'm worried that it will die.

What should I do?

Hi, I have two marimos a couple of months ago, and I think they are a bit unhealthy and need some advice:
First marimo I have place it in living room with low light, it grows some dark brown patches and after I trimmed them off, it seems to become dark green.

The second one I placed it directly under a desk lamp (12w), and it grows some white patches as I believe it had been exposed to light and heat excessively. I then placed it in my aquarium (2x 24w lamps, 1 feet height from substrates) and it has some brown patches again. The average temperature of my tank is 28c. Salt is minimal.

Is there a optimum condition or method to care for marimo and who had success with them for more than a year? I even found contradicting information regarding lighting and salt.

Hi expert, would like to ask why is my giant Marino having lots of white/transparent crystal on its body? They stick on it on kutu stick on dog fur -__-"

Those 'white kutu' are actually from bits of coral or stones that got stuck when those marimo were in leeyung's aquarium(if from the seller that you got your marimo from),as you can see from the picture below how some of the bits of white stone/coral was on the marimo....if it mind you; you can gently remove it with a tweezer... smile.gif

Hi, I have same issue with white fur on marimo, particulary the junoir and giant size. May I know what the white fur is? What cause it to appear and how to make it back to dark green and healthy condition.

Thank you.

That is what I dont understand, my marimo has a lot of brown spots if I leave it on just table or put in fridge. Seems like dying.

Hi LeeYung and all LeeYung Marimo members,
My 2nd batch got from Lee Yung past 11 days. Doing good and in comfortably settle condition. My 1st batch had brown patch but managed to cured in 4 months time but now all gone due to my carelessness and it has nothing to do with weather, lightning and water condition. Hope this 2nd batch to be kept for good. Thank you Lee Yung.

Wanna share pic. Enjoy.
