I have been chosen by matriculation but i do not know whether i should go for it or not. One of my friend told me that if a CHINESE go to matrix, he/she have to get the pointer up to 3.8 and have to maintain it. If not he/she do not have the chance to go for local university. Is that true?

she is one of my senior, she is a fresh graduated student from USM.
The problem is i'm a chinese, i do not have the confidence to get 3.8 and above:(

P/S: i have registered for UTAR and have paid to it RM3000++. But the tuition fees is refundable.

it is easy to get 4 flat in matric. in fact u'll find that most non-bumis are top scorer, >3.7.

Matriculation is good. And there's allowance for you also. (if you need to consider from financial aspect to further your study.) IMO, if you're a chinese and picked for matriculation, you're definitely good enough to secure good result. Syllabi and tests are piece of cake and most importantly, you are in a good study environment with less distractions for you.

Good Luck!

as u have said,if u are chi,u are encouraged to get at least 3.8 or even 4.00..if not hardly to get ur desired course..
but matric is much more better than stpm, higher chance to enter uni, from my peers' experience..
if ur spm result is good, enter private uni is a good choice also, there are many colleges/uni which are offering scholarship rite now..

the only bad thing about matriks is they are not very widely recognized overseas.. especially in countries like UK. But if you are set to go local, matriculation is your best bet.

Incorrect, I have not seen an IPTS that doesn't accept the Malaysian Matriculation yet. So you can go to any IPTS or IPTA with matric.
To a certain extent even unis in the UK and Aussie accepts the Malaysian Matriculation now.

TS, you can go to matriks first, and try out 1 year.
matriks is kinda like foundation in utar, so they are almost similiar except matriks is free.
If you get good result in matriks, then continue on in IPTA, if your result not so well and couldnt secure a good course, you can still continue in utar.

here is a link for a common subject in utar, and Matriculation Certificate, Ministry of Education is part of the requirement

depend on IPTS, but so far i seen IPTS take in matrix students, as long as you pay and pass matriks.

Depends which Foundation you are looking at, there so many out there and depends as well learn lesser of what. Foundation programmes tend to be specific to a field.

Go for it. I just completed my matriculation programme in the previous month, in kedah.

Well it's easy to score 4.00 if you really put a lot of effort in it, or you are a real genius. But i guarantee it's fun because you will be study with lot of friends. It's an precious experience that SPTM students doesn't have. Life in there kind of restricted and hectic but i'm very sure that u will enjoy with it.

About the syllabus, it's worth if u look further. After you complete this programme you can choose whatever field of study that you desire BUT I CAN'T GUARANTEE YOU CAN GET IT because for those hot hot courses like medic, pharmacy and accounting are quite competitive. But with a 4.00 result u have a high chance to get what you want. Real high thumbup.gif and 1 more, even with cgpa 2.00 also got a chance to enter university. your friend just wanted to motivate you blush.gif

Chinese in matric really appreciate this opportunity. Some says this chance is harder than winning a jackpot brows.gif brows.gif Go for it ! It save you a lot of money since government is giving you allowance and the degree's fee is low smile.gif

No, don't go for it, take form 6 instead. You will be restricted to study locally after you go for matriculation. Although it seems that matriculation is an express way to the university, but take a look at a your options, it's either local public uni, or some not-so-prestigious private uni.

Now, the biggest question for you is, are you a good student who will score in whatever exam given to you?
If you are, congratulation, you should take on STPM and get 4.0, then you can look into almost every university in the world (except those which need SAT or those which doesn't recognize STPM).

Form 6 enables you to live in an out-campus lifestyle for 2 more years. You can go makan-makan or watch 3D movies at the cinemas and do whatever you want as long as you have the time. Do you think you will be able to do so in Matriculation??

Basically, there are 3 options

Matriculation -> Local public uni (cheaper but you only have the choice to apply for local public, if you are unlucky that you cannot get the course you want, then you don't have the chance to go private)

Private college courses -> private uni/overseas uni (pay money since pre-U time and you don't get the option to study in local public uni)

Form 6 -> Local public uni/private uni/overseas uni (more options, free, need not worry about not getting what you want (you still can opt for private after that))

Now, which one do you think is the best?

After form 6, if you want to go overseas, you can go to Singapore (NUS or NTU), they recognizes STPM. The tuition fees there are much much cheaper than what you can get by study here in private uni, not to mention that NUS ranked high in the world's university ranking, and you get to study in their campus.

The choice is yours, you will make the decision.
