No, don't go for it, take form 6 instead. You will be restricted to study locally after you go for matriculation. Although it seems that matriculation is an express way to the university, but take a look at a your options, it's either local public uni, or some not-so-prestigious private uni.
Now, the biggest question for you is, are you a good student who will score in whatever exam given to you?
If you are, congratulation, you should take on STPM and get 4.0, then you can look into almost every university in the world (except those which need SAT or those which doesn't recognize STPM).
Form 6 enables you to live in an out-campus lifestyle for 2 more years. You can go makan-makan or watch 3D movies at the cinemas and do whatever you want as long as you have the time. Do you think you will be able to do so in Matriculation??
Basically, there are 3 options
Matriculation -> Local public uni (cheaper but you only have the choice to apply for local public, if you are unlucky that you cannot get the course you want, then you don't have the chance to go private)
Private college courses -> private uni/overseas uni (pay money since pre-U time and you don't get the option to study in local public uni)
Form 6 -> Local public uni/private uni/overseas uni (more options, free, need not worry about not getting what you want (you still can opt for private after that))
Now, which one do you think is the best?
After form 6, if you want to go overseas, you can go to Singapore (NUS or NTU), they recognizes STPM. The tuition fees there are much much cheaper than what you can get by study here in private uni, not to mention that NUS ranked high in the world's university ranking, and you get to study in their campus.
The choice is yours, you will make the decision.
