The latest official firmware for our region is group already, Dxjpe. I suggest connect to kies and update. Then you can root the phone. There's no problem with rooted stock rom.

GingerReal Rom has those Samsung sync apps but I have removed them. Battery life is okay I think. I've only been using it for less than a day.

Go to settings > about phone > battery use. Take a screenshot and show us.

Then click on the graph at the top, take that screenshot and show that to us as well.

I'm not satisfied with gingerreal. Being used to insanity rom, it has got too many bloat and unnecessary apps in the /system/app folder. Had to remove using Nitrality app.

there were also occasional jerkiness and lags which is very apparent after being used to having CM7 for weeks.

Also, the kernel doesn't have voodoo sound infused!

default Gallery 3D? It has always been slow for me. Even quickpic has slight delay when displaying the thumbnails.

which gallery issue are you referring to? if battery drain, try clear thumbnails and rebuild it.

quad core exynos? or 6-core That'd be worthy upgrade to our sgs!

I agree. Samsung is great at hardware department but not software. I returned from CM7 to touchwiz. Jerkiness and lags are very noticeable. I can't wait for the next nightlies.

TW icons design are not exact copy of iOS but they are very similar. What similar is using horizontal scrolling and the apps sorted by last installed. Vertical scrolling and alphabetical sorting makes more sense and easier to navigate!

htc ceo, Peter Chou confirmed future phones will have unlocked bootloader. But previous htc phones bootloader have all been cracked anyway.

Suddenly, htc sensation becomes a very desirable phone next to sgs II.

- try clear cache and data for the gallery or use sgstools
- to rebuild thumbnails, use quickpic. it has better algorithm that gallery3d

did you use odin to flash to stock gingerbread before ramad's deodexed xxjvo? because you need to have gingerbread bootloader,

for south east asia, DXJPE (2.2). If you don't need to send in for warranty, just flash the latest one, either europe of asia. They are way much better.

I doubt the iphone and the ipas uses gps inside a building. I'm pretty sure they were using cell tower for location.

AFAIK, apple uses "Skyhook" that has much better algorithm for detecting phone's location by cell tower triangulation. They tried to use that tech for motorola phones but google stepped in and block it. For now, all android phones uses google's poorer cell tower triangulation algorithm. There's an ongoing legal battle between google and skyhook.

The most promising from right now is the cyanogenmod. It has great gps performance and virtually lagless and no jerkiness. Battery life can still be improved - although I read pre-nightlies #15 has a much improved battery life.

For you, I suggest to ditch darkyy. I do not wish to offend any darkyy fans but I never believed in his character and his rom. Try the latest leaked stock gingerbread. GB custom seems to be not as stable as I wished.

CM will fix it eventually. Got no problem with swype. I downloaded swype installer from its website and it installed fine. Also, for all sammy goodies, there are better alternative in the market. See first post for cm7 for alternative apps.

Apple product is like that. I used my sister's macbook for a while and I was suffocated with its limited freedom, namely itunes and ipod. MBP may work for people who don't know how to change screen brightness, keyboard shortcuts, etc.


As stated above. Try stock gb rom. Take a look at this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011901 Choose xxjvo with bootloader. It has a nice guide to upgrade as well.

Try all and then try stock gb. See if I'm right about custom rom not stable yet. If I'm wrong, we may see the first stable gb custom rom!

Short answer: Different people has different needs.

This is why there are a variety of cars, blenders, washing machines and spectacles to name a few.

Kies doesn't show any update because there isn't any. Latest official firmware is Dxjpe 2.2 for asean region.

Leaked gingerbread rom, however are available. There are a number of them. These are unofficial.

ddjv6 is official gingerbread for India and is available through kies.

Don't know about that. I think one forumer here has tested (almost) all gb custom rom. He can give a better answer. I am on gingerreal but has removed bloats in the /system/app which I think may have contributed to excellent battery life.

Maybe try stock gingerbread first. There are 3 new leaked roms. But I know DDjv6 is official gb for India.
