much like how we need to set up a router b4 we get to go online and not like a blender when its on it blends and does what it does best.

I suppose thats what u mean? XD

Wonderful little thing android phones are...  rclxm9.gif
*
Not quite that. I know setting up a router is easy but I know people who can still make screw ups.

Besides cosmetic difference, on what sense android is harder to use? We got useful widgets and pull down notification bars, among others. That's easier than iOS.

Is more options = harder to use?

i was using the stock 2.2 all the while since i bought the phone..
now the official GB has out..and i back up my files using the kies only..will all my others files will lost after i upgraded my rom to official GB with kies?
*
All of your apps will be backed up and restored during the upgrading process in kies. Data in internal sdcard will be left intact. But it doesn't hurt to make a manual backup.

guess so since people tend to like stuffs straightforward, or in a meaner way of saying it mayb they are lazy to learn?

No time to learn. They want straightforward things.

I like many of apple's software design. It's just that they do not give/want an option to do it differently, easily. Quoting John Locke from the Lost, "Don't tell me what I can't do!"

HI everyone i have been reading up on all your pose. I just recently upgraded to 2.3.3 official ginger rom. wanna ask can i root my phone?

1) I wanna delete some preinstall apps.
2) If possible how do i do it?

THX =)
*
Possible once you are rooted.

From http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011901 Use ctrl+F and finf "How to root and install busybox:"

1. Flash fuguroot
2. Next flash the original stock rom. In your case, download and flash DXJV9.

Currently downloading it, was wondering if I'd need the bootloader?

From the nomenclature, yes. I also believe it needs the gb bootloader.

As long as you can go into download mode by 3 button combo, you are safe. Which rom are you flashing into.

hi TS...

What is your current rom?*
Simply Galaxy 2.6 SweetHoney

What is your previous ROM?
Simply Galaxy 2.5 SweetHoney

Is your phone rooted or not?*
Yes

Did you install custom kernel? If yes, which one?*
damiangto@gmail_com #201

What did you expected it to be?*
Wanna flash a stable Gingerbread firmware..heard that CM7 is good..can i flash with CWM only..im not good using odin..what is the easiest way to flash CM7?

Added on June 5, 2011, 10:40 pm- First time flashing CM 7 to your Galaxy S (or coming from another ROM)?

1. Make sure you're running a Eclair/Froyo Firmware (2.1 or 2.2) and Eclair/Froyo Bootloaders! >> How do i know my current Froyo 2.2.1 with the bootloaders or not?
2. Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery.
3. Do a Nandroid backup!
4. WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)
5. Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
6. Optionally install the Google Addon
*
For CM7:
simply galaxy 2.6 is froyo right? if you have never flashed to any gb rom, then you still have froyo bootloader.
- preferably flash ezbase 2.0 first
- if you don't want, clear cache and dalvik cache
- flash latest #18 nightly from CWM and reboot
- flash gapps
- done. enjoy!
- i nvr done nandroid backup. if i screw up, ezbase is there.

for stock gingerbread:
- follow the link that has been posted here to ramad's post.

Hi everyone,

I'm new here, but I've read some of the post. I've upgraded mine to stock DXJV9 and I'm quite happy with it. But then, I saw this post on Fugumod kernal. So what's been bothering me is that... If i root my phone with this fugumod kernal, will my phone become faster?

thanks ^^  smile.gif
*
Rooting means getting administrator access only. Won't make your phone faster. It's just that when you have administrator access, you can do many cool stuffs smile.gif

I'm not familiar with fugumod kernel but if you enable lagfix (ext4) then read/write will become faster. Installing apparently will be faster.

QUOTE(kikikatkat @ Jun 5 2011, 09:33 PM)
so what was the issue?
*
Probably superoneclick doesn't work with DXJV9.

To install a custom kernel, one must make sure that it is compatible with the rom version you're using.

Hmm, from what i have read, since stock samsung rom used rfs (which was the reason for lags) and fugumod used ext4 so it should be faster rit? pls correct me if i'm wrong..

Thanks ^^ biggrin.gif
*

[/quote]
if fugumod switches the rfs to ext4 automatically then your read/write data will indeed become faster.

gmhafiz.....do i need to flash EZbase 2.0 first before i flash the MIUI rom?

- Preferably yes. It's good to start clean.
- Miui is based of cm7 but with cosmetic change close to iOS and several different stock apps I guess.

I was on Airplane mode so its not running 2g/3g, no wifi etc.

I flash to Darky V10.1 and last night before I go to bed it was 18% left on Airplane mode.  This morning I wake up the phone is off with no bat left.  That is disappointing.

On Darky V9.5, i left my phone on Airplane mode for 2 days and it only consume 3% of the battery.  I guess froya is still better.

Added on June 6, 2011, 8:56 am

Mine having the same problem.  Its the SGS problem with GPS.
*
You remind me of a user here, holypredator who keeps complaining about how bad his phone's gps is. Try all the GPS fix available including the double sided tape gps fix. If still not satisfied, flash back to dxjpe and pay a little to service centre.

to all sifus and gurus, have some questions here regarding CM7:

1. does CM7 support other launcher (exp LauncherPro) than ADW?
2. can we install custom theme (not ROM!) on CM7?
3. can install other custom thing like crt on off, glowing scroll, 7 lockscreen etc.?
4. is video recording still have choppy effect on 720p? is it ok on other resolution?
5. is the FM radio app cannot be used at all?

hope someone can help me.. very tempted to flash to CM7  drool.gif
*
1. Absolutely.
2. There's an application called theme chooser. Switching theme is just a click away.
3. All those that are made for samsung photoshop rom won't work with CM7. None exists for cm7 AFAIK.
4. still choppy. Maybe youtube hd is better.
5. Can use now, but can't change volume.

QUOTE(c010 @ Jun 6 2011, 09:21 AM)
to run CM7, you have to make sure that your bootloader is froyo because gingerbread bootloader doesn't work well with CM7. there are few ways to load froyo bootloader, since you are new to this, i suggest you download ezbase rom that comes with ezbase version of "Odin" to flash froyo

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991792

in odin, do not tick "repartition", the rest leave it default. once you have flashed froyo, flash speedmod k13e

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756

copy whatever version of CM7 and efsbackup (http://mr-creative59.com/files/android/MIUI/galaxys-efsbackup.zip) into your phone sdcard, then go to recovery, flash efsbackup, then flash CM7

my explanation may not be very detail, but i hope you do read up all the instructions first before flashing.
*
No need to flash speedmod because ezbase comes pre rooted and has cwm built in.

I would like to see in Android, OK, to be honest there is only 1 thing I want - better power management. And Apple's iOS implementing stuff that Android has been having for ages speaks well of Google's vision for mobile. smile.gif

Imagine push notifications natively built into the OS! Everything real-time pushed via Google gateways, email, facebook, twitter, chat instead of having each of our apps make their own connections or poll the internet endlessly..  hmm.gif
*
Better power management can be achieved by full os hardware acceleration. That is built into IOS. the problem here is google has to make one and each manufacture has to follow google. Combined that with different cpu, gpu, and chipset, this made it hard.

Google is rich like? My bbm fanboi wondered why they don't have a server like bbm.

Odd, my #15 CM7 nightly has better battery life than yours. there must be some rogue apps causing battery drain.
