should be able to. I remember switching on hsdpa using that secret code is very confusing. i tried several times before I got it right. check your speed using speedtest app to see if you have enabled it. https://market.android.com/details?id=org.z...droid.speedtest

Guys i got fast question .

i help my fren root his sgs . Then install clockworkmode . but found out it has 3e recovery . What should i do?

his build number is froyo.dxjpe and baseband I9000DXJPB .
*
What do you want to do? If you want to root and have cwm, then there's a nice diagram at the first page that can guide you.

Flashing speedmod kernel will give both root and cwm. Link and guide to the kernel is at front page.

*
If possible, try to unroot the phone. Else, just install that froyo speedmod. It should overwrite the changes (like SuperOneclick) that you made anyway.

Andriod need to install Anitvirus AntiMalwares?  This is starting to look like Windows!
*
No single operating system are virus & malware free. Although linux & BSD have the best security out of box, they can still be attacked. OSX is even more vulnerable than windows 7 (gasp!)

The best security layer is the user itself. Not installing pirate/warez apps is a good step.

*
Yes, the latest cm7 is really blazing fast.

random people got that email because the only official 2.3.4 rom is available to nexus s only. cm7 is 2.3.4. google thought you've got a nexus s

If you don't need 24hrs data on, then I suggest using green battery. I find it to work better than batteryfu. It'll extend your battery life past 24hrs.

QUOTE(c010 @ Jun 2 2011, 02:06 PM)
if you flashed stock rom and CF kernel, why is Darky CWM there?
*
leftover from darkyy. I know darkyy's rom has a history of stubborn leftover files when flashing to another rom. But I still feel odd that even stock jvh doesn't remove that.

Try ezbase 4.0 (JVH) instead for a clean start. http://insanity-dl.nfye.com/list.php?dir=b...e=EZBase-4.0.7z

True...but that prob indicates I've either screwed up the flashing or that it's not very optimized. Thinking about giving CM7 a try. Does it drastically change the touchwiz look?
*
Nothing changes because there's NO touchwiz component at all! no more samsung lagginess

I am thinking of going this route to flash Juwe's rom.

Gingerbread Starter

Is it safe? Or should I just go to stock gingerbread and then to juwe?

Btw, is all recovery mode like Dark Core or CWM the same?
*
If both darkyy and Juwe's rom are jvh based then technically you can flash Juwe's zip through recovery straightaway. However, it could leave some files or scripts from the previous rom.

It is always a good thing to start clean. which is why I suggest using ezbase 4.0 - since this version is JVH based.

Don't worry about recovery mode. All those are modified from the original CWM. They all should work the same albeit slight differences in functions.

Addon: I forgot that you were using froyo. Thus straight flash from recovery won't work. Flash whole rom like ezbase 4.0

how to know whether we're on ext4 or rfs?

Use terminal emulator application. Then type:
su
mount

You need to be rooted. Another way is to go into recovery. Check the lagfix options whether it is enabled or not.
Enabled: most probably ext4
Diaabled: rfs

Use usb jig. I suggest use that to go to download mode. Flash stock Dxjpe. Then send service for button repair.

Quoting first page troubleshoot page. If you could give more information, we could help you better.

What is your current rom?

What is your previous ROM?

Is your phone rooted or not?

Did you install custom kernel? If yes, which one?

Did you install custom rom? If yes, which one?

Describe the steps that you did leading to the problem.

What did you expected it to be?

Give any additional information that might be useful

Can I use ODIN for stock rom?

Thanks...really very informative.

Not sure I want to stay on GB.  See absolutely no advantage over Froyo.  I thought it might fix my GPS but it did not.  Battery on GB use up a lot even on standby Airplane mode.

Anyone can recommend a good custom rom base on froyo?  Is stock froyo with speed fix ok?
*
less is more. If you want froyo, use the latest stock froyo. If you want custom froyo rom, use doc's or insanity.

QUOTE(lightning69 @ Jun 4 2011, 10:34 AM)
Antenna gate problem happens in low signal area and is easily solve with a case which almost everyone use one anyway.

Apple only release one phone a year and so far their strategy works well.  With just 1 phone in the market, they manage to capture the largest market share beating out all the rest of the manufacturers that have dozens of models line up at any one time.

There is a reason for everything and apple did not achieve all that success due to luck or product hype.  Most Andriod fans hate the iphone because of certain limitations apple put on the iphone, but the truth is that iphone is still the most simple phone to operate and has the best collections of apps in any phone, and that is just what most users need.

Enough about this iphone comparison.  For me I just want my SGS work work well for me and I am still searching for that firmware.
*
- I don't want to use a case. I'd like a thin phone. Having a case defeats the purpose
- different people has different needs. I do not want a simple phone. I want a powerful one.
- App collection and quality will improve over time
- What most users need are very simple. I need advanced features - widgets, pull-down notification bar, custom roms and tweaks
- I like cheese cake, my gf likes carrot cake.

hey lightning69

you remind me of my old self when I first got my phone. i'm so angry with Samsung. come to think of it, I sounded a bit childish and immature. but now, I love Samsung so much. can't live without it.

I honestly think that you just need more experience. then, you'll be happy.

for now, stop comparing Apple to Samsung, iphone to SGS, etc. we don't really want to hear that. seriously.

cheers

IMO, he pointed out several well made fair arguments. It's just that his knowledge in android ecosystem is not deep enough. If you go to appleinsider forum or macnn, you'll go rclxub.gif over their kool-aid support of apple and steve jobs.

We don't treat our android phone like an electrical appliance (e.g. television, blender, refrigerator, microwaves). We use it like a miniature computer. That's what an android phone is.

Most people do not want to think much when using a phone. They treat it as an electrical appliance.
