For safety issue an change in 3 years a once.
Either 50~60k KMs.

Due to rubber wear & tear and getting hard & won't be eating on road surface.
Some experience maybe adsive change on 3 years.

Thanks for the information smile.gif

Treadwear rating for XM2 is 420. While XM1 is 320. I last used XM1 and found out that it lasted quite long. So XM2 really last longer than XM1? Can we trust the rating?

Hi all sifus,

Generally how long a tyre should last? Do we measure by years, or by mileage?

My Dunlop 175/70R13 have been in use for 3 yrs and about 50k KM, and looks like it's about time to change - is it reasonable?

A tyre shop told me if we rajin do alignment after every 10k, some tyres can last even up to 80k or above - is he bluffing?

thx.....

both years and mileage (and TWI), whichever come first.
between 3-5 years, or until TWI (tread wear indicator) or mileage (depends on tires wear rate and driving style)

4pcs of 205/65/R15 Dunlop D01 made in 08, seldom drive and always park under shed, tread still very new and deep, surface has no visible cracking mark, still can feel the elasticity of tyre (rubber feeling) when driving.

So now almost 5 years, what shall i do? Continue to use or what? Mostly drive 5K of mileage per year.

Its almost 6 years biggrin.gif . Use as usual but do not drive at very high speed for long hours. Other option is trade them for new tyres.

normally they charge rm20 for wira (per car) - it seems car model/size affects the $. if you read some more here or in here http://forum.autoworld.com.my/index.php?showforum=61, there are shops that charge more but people still go because reportedly the quality is really good - i have no clue, never tried.

30k without doing alignment might be bad for the lifespan...

My budget is rm400+- per tire. Might as well change my bent rim while at it. Is kedai papan klang good as i heard people say?

Need recommendation on tyre for 185/60R15..currently using B. Potenza re080(Jap)..
Prefer better grip on dry and wet and better comfort or lower noise level compare to potenza...

sorry not used one before. but the Azenis is the premium tyre for Falken. I am currently using Falken Ziex 912s. but I saw a few high end beemers with the Azenis and it suits the car well!

Nexen N8000 or Toyo T1R. Bear in mind, since you're currently using PS3 which has a good dry and wet grip, you may need to lower your expectation when buying cheaper tyres.
I am currently trashing the cheap ATR Sports tyres. Damn noisy which is expected from directional tread with hard rubber but due to the deep tread, its aquaplaning resistance is better than PS3 .
2 pcs of PS3 can buy 4 pcs of same size ATR Sports. A sensible low budget performance tyres but not advisable to be used for a long period.
Off topic...aren't you in golf thread too? biggrin.gif

As above, NexenN8000, T1R and maybe Hankook V12. If you can stretch your budget for PS3 or Azenis series, go ahead.
Nowadays, Rawang is quite an emerging market. So, you have the option of going to whichever is nearer to your place.

XM2 or Conti Premium Contact 2. Both should be marginally better than the OEM fitted RE080.
