I tend to disagree. Reason being, iconia has 2 built in USB port, 1 full USB and 1 microusb. Iconia has a dedicated orientation lock hard button. Iconia has a protection cover for the microsd slot. Iconia has led flash for the camera. Transformer do not have all these. So in terms of hardware, Asus has less.

But personally I prefer my gadgets to be nwked coz I enjoy the original design and feel of my stuffs. So what I usually do is laminate them at my usual lamination shop and use a sleeve or leather pouch. Having said that, the original Acer case that came with it is just perfect

how come urs don come with case? in their brochure, they stated free case for a500 also.. how much did u top up for extra one yr warranty??

transformer don have protection cover for the microsd slot?? but all wat u said is true.. the extra feature really make iconia look better only the ips screen and dock which are less compare to transformer.. and i dono why some ppl stated iconia is lagging.. i played with it and found its a bit smoother than xoom even.. duno how they define lag too.. but of cos not as smooth as it should be and 3.1 heard that improve a lot .. so its not hardware problem but 3.0..

I agree on all your points so don't understand why there's so much fascination with the Asus pad. It's as if the iconia isn't even a contender ...

Btw have you laminated your iconia?

read that early june for both iconia and transformer.. fb game is still lagging even barn buddy..so don put too much hope yet..

Here's how the original Acer case looks like(not the one that came free with Iconia). What I dislile about this case is the amount of dust that gets trapped in between the screen and the case so if you have OBD like me, this case is a no no. Very similar to the original ipad case which i have, for those who has it knows what i mean. OTOH, this case is really form fitting thus minimising the footprint when you carry it.

nice case! how much do u buy it? i like it covers the side as well and leave the button and charger's or usb's hole uncovered only..prevent scratches more effectively.. issit a rubber case?

U post your point @asus thread . See how many will not disagree with u. My point is simple, dont compare with others tablet. Buy if u feel comfortable with that.

Again, I'll have to disagree one more time. If we don't compare to other tablets, how would we know which would be the best bang for the buck for the one that's gonna be suitable for us? It is by comparing then we would be able to choose the right one that suits us in terms of usage, budget and etc. Maybe the Asus users do not need a USB port, thats why they choose it. Maybe the Acer users need a flash when taking pictures as most of the time they work in dark places. So by comparing, we choose the one that suits us most.

Yes of course u need to compare for ur own purpose, but no need to say others tablet is not good bcoz dont suit ur budget or ur purpose-.

Now that the transformer's price has been announced, i've gone ahead and purchased the iconia instead. Both cost the same price ($1499 , without keyboard) Here's my reasoning.

Firstly, i ask myself what's the point of getting a keyboard and turn the transformer into a laptop if i already own a proper laptop ? If i'm going to travel out with a transformer laptop, i might as well travel with my proper laptop. I am pretty sure all potential tablet owners here already own laptops. With the novelty of the not needing the keyboard justified, i turn my attention to the tablet itself. Clearly, the transformer lacks all the extra ports the iconia has. This alone is enough to give the iconia the win. For the same price, the transformer has a better screen, but the iconia has very useful microsd & usb ports built onto the tab AND it also comes with 32gig storage versus transformer's 16gig. In the end, the above reasons is why i choose the iconia over the transformer.

Good that you've realised that indeed we need to compare in order to choose. And I hope you do realize too that none of us here said the Transformers is no good. I've only laid down the facts and figures for the benefit of other forumers to compare and choose whichever tablet that suits them. One man's poison may be another man's meat. Anyway no point arguing over who has the last laugh on this insignifant 'Tak mau kalah' attitude. Waste of time, not to mention even makes this forum more boring to read on instead of posting more constructive and beneficial info to other forumers.

Anyway let's get back to the main topic, the Iconia tablet. Rubik' yes you're absolutely right that mostbpeople miss out on one of the most important difference 16gb versus 32gb. personally I've got about ten thousand pictures shot with my DSLR and that alone is almost 13gb, not to mention the amount of work related PDF files I have amounting to 4gb. So the rest are for apps, downloaded youtubes HD contents, mp3s'. I've now left with only 2 gb. Gonna get a 32gb microsd this weekend too.
