Guys, i will be going to lowyat later to survey some laptops..would be great if i can get some suggestions from u guys before i go..i would prefer sumthing that is

+ below RM2k
+ 14-15" screen would be sufficient (
+ usage will be mainly on moderate MS office multi tasking (work) as well as watching movies, series etc

This will be my first laptop and kinda blur deciding what to get..any brands to avoid or 'better' brands out there?

So far ive googled and found the

Acer 4750 2412g50
ASUS X42DE-VX090
Dell vostro (cant remember the series)

Btw, for the processors, are the intel 'i' series necessarily better than the previous dual core?

Oh and a good sleek looking laptop would be a plus point tongue.gif

Constant web surfing is not considered as "load" to a laptop nowadays haha  smile.gif

Thanks for reminding bro  notworthy.gif
Anyway, are you asking or just suggesting? haha  laugh.gif

For your laptop, its either Asus U41sv or Acer TimelineX 4830Tg  nod.gif

Sorry about that man! haha! Anyway i took a look at the models you suggested, what if:
1. Brand - any
2. Budget - 1.5 - 2.5k
3. Specs - non-gaming, college use, long battery life
4. Size - 14 inch

Budget got tighter...>.< if 2k also ok...
One more thing, is i3 processor sufficient if it is not for gaming, only using it for college work, movies, and browsing?

If it's SB then it's a yes.
I'm on an i5 with internal graphics, runs everything pretty smoothly, same usage as you are

was just wondering, if i were to take the

Dell Vostro 3450 N34506

2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5-2410M processor 2.30 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz
14.0" HD WLED Anti-Glare (1366x768)
4GB 1 DIMM (4GB x1) DDR3 1333Mhz
500GB Hard Drive, 7200 RPM
Intel® HD Graphic

will the absence of a graphic card affect my internet surfing or watching HD movies etc?or is there a better laptop with similar price..

Hi. I'm planning to buy my friend a laptop(with no issues of course), Brand i'd prefer asus or acer(maybe acer coz support better back in kuching?). My budget is up to rm 3,000.

Purpose of the laptop is for surfing, facebooking, watching movies! Not really into gaming.

I wanted to choose acer 4830 but it has throttling issue. I don't want sony, lenovo or dell though!(maybe sony would be ok).

Should i stay with the core i series or opt for intel sandbridge or amd llano?

Battery life moderate enough dy!

TQ.

Not sure if this is a stupid question but for the Asus U41SV, is it possible to upgrade the chipset to an i7? Also, for anyone who owns this, just wondering if the battery life claims of 10 hours is anywhere accurate.

Still looking for "the one" for me:

1. Brand - Any (beside Dell, Hp, Toshiba)
2. Budget - <2.5k
3. Specs - non gaming, college use, light weight
4. Size - 14"

If can, tell me why do you suggest these models~ biggrin.gif

With the stuffs you doing on your laptop, you won't experience throttling issue haha laugh.gif
Hence, the 4830Tg would still be a great choice since it offers extended battery life compared to its counterparts nod.gif
Asus N43Sl would be a good choice as well...
