Hi guys,how you all can know whether you get a faulty satellite or not :S My Edifier S530D satellite still sounds like piercing my ear I thought because just bought it,but after one week keep playing song,the sound still like that or maybe the problem is I don't own any sound card =[ now using on board sound card

p/s I don't know whether is my ear problem or the satellite Not complaining here,just seeking for opinion After hear music from the satellite for few hours,I did feel a bit headache which my previous speaker doesn't make me feel like that

If Piercing Trebles = Faulty then Edifier product all faulty *jk*
Anyway... I think it's only faulty if the sound is extremely distorted/pecah(破音)/noised. Paging Power911 to answer you.

Solution:
1. Low down the the treble setting
2. Use Cat5e as speaker cable
3. Run in using pink noise then use frequency sweep

could be both LOL

but wait... is your S530D still new?
if yes then you need some time for it to run before it get's smooth. My S530D is harsh at the beginning until I got them well flexed and exercised via burn in for 100 hours more then it gets well.

But if your ears are used to dark sounding speakers that don't really like treble then you might find S530D harsh, so lower down your trebles.

issit laptop onboard soundcard?
meh,whatever it is I'd recommend you to get one decent soundcard to get the S530D run smoothly.
The piercing sound might come from your soundcard.

do experiment with different sources like letting your S530D play via mp3 player or phone to see if the headache is still there

1.I think not the treble problem,i tried to lower to -6,but the sound just don't know how to describe it,sorry I'm bad on describe thing =[

Yea,my S530D still new,and I not switching it on often because will headache.I didn't use any software to burn-in due to worry will harm the speaker as well

I'm using desktop GIGABYTE P67a-UD3-B3 onboard soundcard. Will buy a soundcard soon

I tried using Ipod Touch to play music but I think the effect still same =[

Anyway,how much do I need to put on to have a better sound quality yet?

I know that feeling, long time listen you will fatigue or irritating.
If treble -6 also had that feeling, you can try out burn in the mid range driver first, require moderate to moderate loud volume.
Cat5e is also known as computer network cable or LAN cable, find a good quality one and give it a try.

yea... probably it's new and come back complaining next time if you find it annoying still.

but if you said it sounded the same even with ipod then I dunno man... maybe it is because your S530D faulty.

soundcard is not important I guess since your problem doesn't come from soundcard
plan on that asus soundcard next time...

do some simple burn in process like pink noise for slightly above average listening for 3 hours per day for one month (lols... that's a lot of 'for' in a sentence)
and if you want you can go burn in your woofer by playing 40hz sine wave also for 3 hours per day for one month, make sure the woofer flex(move vigorously)

yes, burn in gets noisy and worsens your headache process but it does nourish your speakers a little with digital conditioner~
just get permissions or do burn in only when you're not around.
average music listening is also a process of burn in so you can use music too...


just a few questions, how does that irritating sound sounds like?
just like an old CRT TV beep whine hiss sound? or some buzzing electric sound? or some 10000Hz mosquito sine wave sound?

Setting for eq is pretty subjective among individuals.

any reference that i can refer?
i quite noob at this

let it be flat...
if you want then play play by doing V or U shaped curve.
other tips would be...

equalizers go by low to high sound.

tuning the ones on the left will result in the boom boom section which is bass
tuning the ones on the right will result in changing the high pitched sounds.

it's best that you don't play with them and let it go flat cuz that's the best settings.

haha when i got s730 in my doorstep last time,,,i had 2 carry the 3 separate boxes all by myself...took me 15 minutes 2 carry all 3 of them from outside 2 my upstairs room
