You can use any portable amp with iphone. Fiio E1, E3, E5, E7, Hippo Box, just to name a few. Yes, it does improve the SQ depends on the amp. Like E1 - E5 it doesn't improve much and most people will agree that you'll be better off with better amp.

IINM there is an LOD for Iphone. If you use the LOD it will bypass the internal amp and offer a cleaner signal for your external amp, and therefore increased sound quality. You'd need an amp with volume control though or else you'd be hearing your music at 100% volume. Oh, BTW they're pretty cheap too. As for mp3 players...you can get Sansa Fuze/Fuze+, Clip/Clip+. Also Cube C30(there are very few sellers around here though). I only know of Hippo Gumstick which is bundled with nice IEMs for well under RM500 that you are willing to pay for. Maybe you can just wait for it? (The mp3 recommendation question should be asked at the other thread). Besides Jaben there's SLCC at Kuching, that I'm aware of at least. Hey guys need opinions! I'm currently using Shure SRH440 but they're kinda big and not really portable to be used on the go. sooo...
- My Rig: iPod Nano 4gen - Type of usage: music listening - File format: FLAC, MP3 VBR - Music genre: Acoustic, Rock, Alternative (you can see from my sig i'm a Radiohead fan), Screamo, Electro, House, Dubstep, almost everything except those mainstream Bieber-ish songs? haha - Budget: < RM600? - Headphone/ earphone type: Over-ear Headphones - Other requirements: Has to be lightweight, portable. ,
Right now i'm considering Fischer Audio FA-004. It looks great, lightweight, and looks like got reviews. Might think of Denon AH-D1001 as well. But according to reviews it isn't that great, and it's twice the price as the FA. Any other to recommend?

Hi, Are there any major differences between Jays a-Jays One and Three/Four, especially the bass response?
Is there any place to try out the IEM before buying?
My Rig: Portable Sony MP3 Type of usage: music listening File format: MP3 320 kbps bitrate Music genre: Instrumental, Pop, R&b Budget: slightly lower or comparable to a klipsch s4 without mic (sry, not really sure about the market price in Msia) - Headphone/ earphone type: IEM What would you recommend?

Depends on the person your asking, you'll get different answers. But from what I searched around, cables should be the last thing in your upgrade list. I'm still waiting for my custom cable from bro i_djoel2000. Hopefully it is worth it.

You will definitely hear improvement on clarity with the E1. As for the E5 or E11, you will need the FiiO L3 LOD to hear the improved clarity with added bass boost.
