i seriously doubt anyone will pay for astro on an androidtv box.

with q5ii, u already get some of the channels astro offer, foc!

ok, not the most popular hd ones but the usual news, cartoons, sports channels available from various addons/sites.

moreover, so much to watch with just hitv and xbmc, u dun need more!! biggrin.gif

No no, astro on the go is free, if your parent house have astro which usually they do, you can register astro on the go using their account. So you can have channels they have on your device (iphone/android).

You can also register astro on the go without any astro account, you still can watch some free astro channels or can buy some channels too.

I just need confirmation if anyone has installed Astro-On-Go on Q5II and using other people account to watch Astro since it is an android device after all.

I need to know this before i buy Q5II

For non 3d , go for HD600F. (Rm200+-)
For 3d, go for HD900A. (Rm300+-)

Video & audio quality on android box not as good as realtek chipset.
My friend selling off his Q5 less than one week after he bought it.

could it be due to too much customization causing degradation?

I don't know Q5II, but Astro-On-the-go cannot be install in Q5. It seems that Astro only allows it to be install on specific android device. However, maybe you can explore changing the Q5II identity so that it will identify itself as another allowed device. I never have the time to try.

I would do that if i have Q5II.

Anyways i thought android apk can be installed anywhere without going through google store login etc.

Is it the apk itself auto detect the device?

Ok just note, not sure abt android but for apple store astro-on-the-go come in two version one is for iphone and another one ipad.

I heard the one for Ipad has higher resolution 720p while on the iphone only SD. This should applied to Android market too.

Bro, you can install Astro on The Go via APK file in Q5, but it will not stream because AOTG only support limited device as mentioned at AOTG web site :

Additional add-value services to pre-modified Q5II for that purpose may boost your sales?

Modify coding is not that easy bro, I do not have Himedia overlay source code.

As per my experience, majority still look at the price instead of service :-(

i just tried astroonthego on q5ii and ipadmini. i have astro beyond.

easy to install, just register at astro, go to app store, the app is there.

for both q5ii and ipad, all come out sd, incl supposedly hd channels. hd ones come out a bit better but is not hd. tablet small, so ok.

fairly smooth, not much lagging, no crashing.

not everything u subscribe is available for streaming, only selected ones.

good news is for some tv series, the old episodes are there for u to watch. same with some other shows.

this onthego is a fairly useful feature, but i won't be keeping astro for long.
