man, i would like to buy hp dv4 (i7 version) in garage sale but the seller didnt provide invoice because it internal staff purchase not for retail..
and he also said that this internal staff purchase did not require receipt for hp care pack

You better confirm with HP before purchase from the seller in garage sales.

bro, check your windows update.
i think that one would be better, because it scans your system.
if you take from the website, you have to pick the right one. smile.gif

QUOTE(dingding @ May 12 2011, 08:20 PM)
Hi guys. I'm looking to buy a new laptop.

I've sort of shortlisted these 2
Dell XPS15 and HP dv6 6001tx

They have similar specs. Both using the same processor.
But XPS15 uses a Nvidia GT 540M while DV6 uses AMD Radeon 6770M. 6770M is more powerful.
But Dell offers a 7200rpm hard disk.
Besides that as far as I know, Dell provides the best customer support.

Which one do you guys think is better?

XPS15 is rm3699 and dv6 is rm3699 as well.
But if i choose to not get the Beats headset, seems like I can shave off RM400-500.

I have some concern regarding the HP warranty. How is the warranty? What does it cover? Will I void the warranty if i upgrade the RAM myself?

And the most important being how to make warranty claims if anything is defective? Where do I send the laptop back for repair?
This is the biggest concern as I'll be moving to Batu Pahat in a few months' time. From the HP website, the nearest HP service centre is in Muar which is 1 hour's drive away. Is there any other options (any other places?) other than dropping them off at the HP service centre?
*
Personal advice for you, if you're more to gaming then DV6 is the choice while on the other hand, if you're more to multimedia then XPS15 would be the choice for you, as for the HP warranty, basically it covers almost every part of your laptop, only the drawback for HP warranty is, it doesn't provides the On-Site warranty which mean you have to send back the laptop to the HP service center by yourself. It doesn't voids your warranty if you change / upgrade your RAM as well as the HDD. Where do you plan to purchase your laptop? If in your nearest location, try to ask the seller whether they provide the deliver service for you or not, if they do then it should be okay, since many of the shop in lowyat provides this services for their customer, but now lowyat plaza has most of the services center like Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, and etc. So it's hassle free for the customer to send back their laptop.
